I played Liverpool vs. Brazil in my first online game. I lost 5-0.

Then I played Burnley vs. Argentina and lost 2-1.

Pretty much all the goals were complete howlers... clearances bouncing off of shins/faces of inactive players and back into the net, etc.

Besides a few star players, many feel just plain wrong and some have stats that, at least personally, i dont agree with at all.

Apparently Micheal Owen is as good an all round player as Berbatov and Rafael controls like he is the worse player on my team, for instance he seems to move like a snail, despite the real life version of him being pretty quick.

I don't know why you cant score very easily, me and a mate had a few games on this in between Fifa last night as he wanted to try it, we were laughing at all the bizzare rocketed goals from miles out. The keepers are funny too, they just seem to fall over alot.
Definitely playing 2010, unless I've been done by the shop!

Having played a few more games last night, I concede it is ridiculously easy to get in powerful long shots on the regular difficulty settings - I was winning games by double figures, which was no fun at all really. Ramped up the difficulty though and that seemed to help, as defenders were closing down much quicker etc etc.

I didnt ever say i could'nt score easily though. I was specifcally talking about scoring long-rangers, which you had mentioned you felt was extremely frequent and far too easy. I still maintain that long range goals are hard to come by. Even on the regular settings last night, I had only one go straight in from long distance.

Maybe we just play it differently though. Lots of my play is down the wings, with short passes across the pitch and in to the box. I have a mate who shoots from all over the place though, so inevitably scores more long-rangers.

I seem to be blocked from unlocking trophies on the PS3. Is that because I'm using that downloaded option file?

Anyone got news on when the next Option File may be available?... with the Bundesliga teams, proper International kits etc...?

Dont quote me but it may be to do with using the savedata file not just the edited data if that makes any sense. You may have the original file creators full option file copied by mistake.

              ?

Not sure if you've got Ps3 version, but if you have, I would like to see you score these easy goals against me. For someone who doesn't like the game you sound like a seasoned pro who will give me a tonking.

Ive played alot of football games throughout my life so I'm pretty good at them, Pro Evo's basics havent changed in the last 10 years very much really, so if youre good at one version youre pretty much good at them all.

I have the 360 version, though probabaly will trade it in soon anyway.

DON`T COPY THE SAVEDATA FILE AS IT BLOCKS THE TROPHIES. Only copy over the kit files mate. Sony introduced this for GTAIV I heard it`s to stop trophy cheats.

I have to say... 2 days in and I'm just not feeling this one. Given it's PES and it does usually take time I am giving it a chance but at the same time a lot of things just arent working for me.

For starters, how the hell do you tackle in this besides sliding in? I've tried pressing the opposition (holding A or A+B for two players) but on regular difficulty they're just plain stupid and above that they are completely adept at shielding the ball and passing it off to a team-mate to an extent that they play possession football for 70% of the match.

I honestly just cannot seem to get a foot-in anywhere, literally. Any tips?

Other than that hindering my abilities the rest isnt bad but it feels so clunky and the player control just seems to be very heavy on anything but the close control. Again tips anyone?

I've 2 matches online, one lagged out to the point of being unplayable but the other one was glorious given it was a local derby (against a mate) and I can see the community mode online being an absolute blessing. I'm loving the power of the shots, the heavier more visceral sound effects compared to FIFA etc... like hitting the woodwork. It makes you feel closer to the action but admit the sound effect for actually kicking the ball needs to be revised/tweaked.

The commentary is as p1ss poor as ever and I've turned it right down. Whoever thought it would be wise to say "Thats it! It's almost over, he's going to blow at any moment!" needs to be shot.

                          And I'm spent.

What I'm saying is, do you think you could score "easy" goals against decent opposition? No disrespect to your friend. Personally, I wouldn't give you the space to do these "easy" long range shots. I really don't think you'd tonk everyone because you think it's easy to score. I hope you see what I mean. Granted it is easy to score if you're in the area, one on one with keeper. It's hard not to in real life. With defenders backing off you from 30-35 yards out inviting a shot, you've still got a lot of work to do. Keepers will save most of these.

Not sure if you joined us in the PES tourneys here, but Ezee was usually always the clear winner. Played him the other night in about 5 games. Not one goal was a long ranger. Without blowing my own trumpet too hard, I believe this was down to both of us being decent players.

In my opinion, you went in at a fuzzy angle to disresepct a game, that a lot of people are enjoying. I always said it's going to be a a marmite game and the feedback in this thread shows it. Some of the negative feedback seems a little off though. I agree on all things, animations, clunkiness and general presentation in terms of licenses and commentary, but your analysis of easy scoring, to me, has a twinge of twoddle tied in with it.

Hoolak you are losing all credibility for me. This game is miles behind in quality in what the series was on the PS2. We were hammering it last night, 2 hardened Winning Eleven fans and it was a chore to play. The animations sometime take ages to happen, pass and a second later after the stupid animation has started and finished you pass the ball. Shooting from distance is really easy from any angle if you are decent enough to create half a yard. The dribbling is a complete joke, it feels like you are running through treacle.
Sure you get used to it but you really shouldnt have to.

After playing this we put on J-League 2008 on PS2 and enjoyed every minute. Crisp intstant response, faster passing, plenty of sweet dribbling moves along with the ability to actually lose control of the ball unlike the stick nature of 2010. Amazing animation in comparision and great anyway, it links nicely and looks fairly realistic.

PES 2010 is a poor game that is shown up by its older versions. Its not a marmite game, its simply a poor one but fans will try to squeak some enjoyment out of it. At times its technically inept with the awful animation and unbelievable goal keepers. The lazy way the whole game us put together it just feels unfinished. Couple it with another smattering of half arsed licenses you have a virtually redundant product.
Come on its 2009 FFS! Why do we still have Man Blue????

I can see people enjoy it and good for them, after all I was enjoying Driving Emotion recently and thats a poor game.

not sure somebody loses credibility because their view differs to yours, seems a bit strong.

I have had a few days with this though and as a former PES fan it does sadden me how far in 2nd place it now is. After FIFA it feels sluggish, looks ropey (though player likenesses are great) and just feels so stiff and old.

I'm not sure how Konami, with their current team and engine, can change things now. This is stuck in its own space, some people like that and thats cool, but if it continues on its current trajectory like me, more and more will defect. After a strong first week of sales I expect this will tail heavily and not sell as well as previous years, word of mouth and reviews are just too weak.

It was said a few pages back that this felt like a budget release, I can see where that's coming from, it does feel a bit like comparing Ford Racing to Forza 3 in comparing this to FIFA.

                                If I were putting a score on a review I couldn't go above 6.5 out of 10.
