I'm very much looking forward to replaying this in the new year and seeing how strong my feelings towards it are. On first playthrough I felt it was technically excellent, with incredible production values and a solidity that is easily admired. But I wasn't as taken with it as most people seem to have been, and I wonder if maybe playing it before/after twelve hour night shifts on-call didn't give the game the best chance to impress.

So, yeah, I'm excited to see how it feels with some time and distance passed since release.

On chapter 15 now and I see what you mean, I didn't half die on that train a lot though. Great game.

Don't worry, still some incredible bits to come!

Ok so twice I have got to the chapter 6 boss, and died. Upon reloading the game hangs at the spinny knife screen. It seems I have to have to start the entire chapter again to rectify the problem, and TBH I just cannot be bothered doing so a third time.

Quite a shame really considering I bought it at launch and I've had to endure god knows how long for customs to release it to me. Now I've finally got it it gives me nothing but problems. I didn't even get the gold guns code in the box either, which every JPN copy is supposed to come with. I'll just wash my hands of the whole affair methinks.

try rebuilding your database on the rescue menu or something.

deleting game update data and redownloading, or maybe you just have a dodgy mastered disc? take the savegame off your system and try it and the disc on someone elses machine.

                You can. Try

peeking up off the edge of a carriage then shooting the bad guys so they dodge the bullets and get taken out by a signal in the tunnel section

                .

Fixed it with a re-install of the install data.

Managed to get hold of this and a ps3 for a week

Not that far into it, the sneaking around the palace with the guards in white shirts bit. Really really annoying me in the area with 8 of them (the fountain bit?)
The other guy is an absolute idiot, at one point he ran past a guard and killed the one in front getting us caught, another time running past 2 guards to kill the 3rd... then if it wasnt bad enough, when i finally managed to get past the guards and started climbing upto the window he was behind me and caught up and jumped to were i was knocking me off and I died.

As well as his idiocracy, I once almost made it to the window but while climbing nate just let go (i wasnt touching any of the buttons) And a fair few times I pressed Square to knock a guard out but instead nate punched him alerting another guard nearby.

It's really making me not want to play this game, but I will anyway as I know the rest will be brilliant. I just don't think this section was done well at all

94% done now, amazing. I really like the extras were they talk about how they are utilizing the cell cpu. A great technical achievement and an amazing game to boot. The gunfire can get a bit tedious but I shall be sad when it is over. Its almost like a big kick in the face to other games developers, especially that theres no noticable loading and everythings just so seamless.

finished! 9/10 easily. what an amazing game. stunning basically from start to finish, a labour of love for sure.

I think it is a really good game, but the combat feels a bit weak. The whole cover system, general combat and weapons do not quite feel as refined or meaty Gears. But they kept it interesting and varied which is more than I can say for Gears 2. The game is also graphically breath taking in places (just wish the resolution was higher).

Some of the unlockables look fantastic. Looking forward to the tranquiliser gun and taking people by stealth.

I finally got to start playing this today. Stunning opening with the train but then almost lost me completely for two reasons -

                            1. Stealth section. MGS1 and Tenchu were the only games I think I didn't hate stealth sections and I'm only really realising that now. Pain in my hole.

                            2. Me and Sully ended up in a tight space and I floated in the air and died several seconds later. That's annoying and shouldn't happen.

But the game won me over quickly enough and I'm on the urban warfare section now and loving it. Finding controls twitchier than I remember in the first game but that's more likely to do with the fact that the only games I've been playing recently have been the PS1 Tomb Raiders and have become totally used to that system.

The good thing about moving from PS1 games to Uncharted 2 is that the graphics are totally blowing me away. This game looks absolutely beautiful.

What I'm loving so far is how they have perfectly integrated scripted bits into normal gameplay. Totally seamless so it feels like I'm in control.

Really looking forward to getting stuck into this.

I had what I'd call my first proper session with this online last night.

My goodness it's a bit good isn't it? I recall hearing about multiplayer being in the game and being upset at the fact, but it's a brilliant multiplayer.

Having played other multiplayer online modes recently from other games, this actually tops them in that the game feels fair. The horde stuff is great, the co-op objective stuff is damn hard but so satisfying and the competitive modes (whilst I steered clear of lesser favourites like capture the flag/zones and stuck to deathmatch) is just plain fun. I love the verticality of it, love that you aren't punished for trying to keep to the pistol and be accurate!

It was already my game of the year, but beforehand the multiplayer was..."just there" for me, but now...wow, will be on this a bit more I think!

My only complaint though is the comms...Sony just HAVE to sort this out, the two of us were both using the official headsets in the HQ mode and it's awful, just awful sounding. I can constantly hear noise from his TV, constantly crackling when we talk to one another, he says I'm echoing! On 360 it's just better, plain and simple.

Off topic but it's one of my major problems with the PS3 in general.
