    Nooo my earssss.

I've only done Chapters 1 & 2 so far but the game is nothing but great fun, although the end bosses have been a bit - formulaic.

Those arn't proper bosses. They are more like Mid-Bosses.

Played a bit more of this, still cant say i'm feeling it that much despite the gameplay being solid overall.

Its actualy an indreadabley hard game to the point where its just frustrating. Ive bought a couple of heart items to boost my health bar as that was always the first thing to do with devil may cry but here the items add so little extra health its hard to even see the point in them unless you can afford to buy about 20, which I'm guessing most people wont do. It also dosnet help that some of the larger enemies can juggle you in the air and get rid of half your life guage in a single move, its ridiculous.

Obviously dodging and using witch time is an esential part of the game, if you dont use it you die, the only problem with this is that when theres multiple enemies you cant keep track of them all at once which makes it virtualy impossible to dodge every attack, nevermind get the timing right consistently so you can use witch time efficiantly. Yes Viewtiful Joe had a simular system, but that was on a 2D plane, you could usualy keep track of your enemies, in this game you cant so it can often lead to frustration. I dont think the game is fair in places, which automaticaly rules out the possiblity of me ever thinking it deserves a score of 10/10.

At the moment i'm thinking more like 7. Devil May Cry 4 was more fun.

          Jeez, the

          epilogue boss

          is annoying a hell.

I will complete it tomorrow (probably) but I have to say the second half of this game has been quite poor/underwhelming and just not fun at all. Personally I think EDGE must have smoked something before giving this a 10, it is a 8 at best for me.

            Well yeah, but still.

Gonna do 2 chapters a day.

It is an incredibly unforgiving game, no doubt about it, but I feel that only serves to heighten the sense of satisfaction and reward. I dunno, I'm usually rubbish at these sort of games but have yet to feel the need to buy any items to aid me in battle. Even when I do struggle, which I have with a number of sections, I'm more frustrated with myself than the game which I feel equips you with adequate tools to slay any foe. Saying that, I can't imagine how difficult the game is on the unlockable Hard and secret ????? difficulty settings alluded to in the achievements. Normal's hard enough.

Oh it is deffinitley rewarding, though I still dont feel its always for the right reasons, and ive already stated my reasons why. There is no need to buy health items and the like really becuase the checkpoints are so frequent (or at least they are early on).

I will no doubt complete the game but no way do I feel like I can be bothered with the harder difficulties really, as you say Normal is challenging enough.

I'm up to chapter 10 on hard and to be honest once you have the dodge down to a T you'll have no problems at all. You could also cheat I guess by using that accessory that enables fantastic combos from just hammering the punch or kick button. I can't see the game being much fun though if you do that.

I've not got that... is it something you get from playing through on easy? IMO there's a couple of nasty bits on hard but if you've got the basics down and have the right gear it (and the difficulty after it) really isn't that bad. For those attempting the top difficulty, my #1 tip is

                      Evil Harvest Rosary

could anyone tell me how you get the extra Accessory slot? cheers

the frame rate is just way to inconsistent for me, im on 360, if im fighting a bunch of enemies its a hell of a lot lower than when im doing one of those challenges, where it feels about 100% faster, and i can dodge for **** anymore , certainly feels like that anyhow

If i shoot out a few benches or plant pots too that drops the fps down to about 10 while the bits and pieces float back to the ground

dont get me wrong, as ive said the game is awesome, i just suck

I'm currently going through the game on hard now. I'm actually getting better medals than when I was playing through on Normal.

I'm currently playing through the whole game with Gaze of Despair equipped which puts all enemies in a constant state of taunt. They keep attacking you, and on hard it essentially just becomes a state of 'Dodge and you'll probably witch time anyway'.

I can't play it any other way. once you've nailed down dodging, everything falls into place from there.

I apologise for the double post but I'm on my phone and it won't let me edit my post.

A few good tips if you're struggling, if you want good range and power then spam the P-K-P wicked weave attack with Shuraba. Even if you don't hit the first two attacks, the wicked weave is ridiculously powerful and very long range.

Or if you just want raw power, equip Durga to the hands and Kilgore to the feet. Put the durga into lightning, then do PPPPK, button mashing K at the end. About 4 rockets will fly out followed by a wicked weave, which just entirely decimates everything.

If you're against an enemy group and one of the enemies has a long staff, torture attack it, grab the staff, and use K to plant it in the ground and spin on it. Instant obliteration.

"Finished" the game on Normal (with crap medals) yesterday and started playing it on Hard. Except for the Afterburner-alike levels (and they are pretty good too) I love it. I assume that even though I have begun a hard game I can go back to levels on Normal and replay them, right?

Yep and you can play any level on Hard, no need to do them in order.
