Bloody hell, that's a lot of halos. Pretty cool reward though. I love the fact the game is bristling with secrets but not so keen on the way unlocking everything requires (at least) 5 playthroughs and hour upon hour rinsing/repeating a couple of sections. Must be a cultural thing as most Japanese games I've played this gen have included unlockables/secrets/achievements that can only be had after ridiculous parameters have been met.

This is really starting to click now. Last few chapters I've been getting Gold awards overall and the only part of the rankings letting me down for Pure Platinums now is mostly damage taken. If I can clean up that aspect of my play I'd be incredibly confident of getting some Platinum trophies for the chapters.
The combat is such a joy. I become excited when the next wave of angels spawns and I can get to work at dealing out a beating. Not really strayed outside of Scarborough Fair and Suraba though. The sheer amount of options available when using these is enough right now.
Oh and that trailer for the guideis insane. There's stuff happening there that I just don't even recognise let alone know how to replicate. Using the After Burner Kick during a mid-air combo just doesn't happen like that for when I try it. XD
Ridiculous skills!Last edited by C'; 20-01-2010, 09:34.

Tah for the advice all.
To get the bracelet of time, by completing the game in under 3 hours, I just need to replay each stage on normal, and then update my ranking to the cumulative time is less than 3 hours?
Because on my first run through the timer on the save screen said 14 hours...Last edited by Sketcz; 20-01-2010, 13:52.

Cool, thanks.
Anyone been reading the metacritic user reviews for this? Kinda depressing.
There are so many complaints about the music, I'm wondering if they would have all instead preferred some generic metal soundtrack the yanks throw into every game - even the US version of Jet Set Radio had an inappropriate Rob Zombie track, didn't it?
The negative ones also all keep going on about it being generic - I guess you could say Battletoads did the giant hands and feet thing feet before Bayonetta, but geez, this game feels like the most non-generic game I've played in years.

I got this on Sunday, and I've been taking my time on it. Since the game is certainly not easy, I've taken it one chapter at a time. The game is growing on me with the combat system and it's getting better and better.
I love the music. I'm all for such cheese and it suits the over-the-top style of Bayonetta very well indeed.

And yet not appreciative for a game that has a good battle system, and tries to be a little leftfield with it's choice of soundtrack/ cutscenes/ main character.
I'm sure if the main character had white hair and a red trench coat, or a greek anti hero come demi-god slashing mythical beasts to hitherto accompanied by either industrial techrock or sweeping orchestrial scores, then no one would bat an eyelid.
It's just easier to hate on being different.

I ask as I've got destroyed in previous boss sections of DMC and Ninja Gaidens but I loved the demo of Bayonetta and I'm considering it.
Just spam the attack button, and the game with make you do smooth combos on the fly. You don't need to remember any combo strings.Last edited by jimtendo; 20-01-2010, 23:56.

The comments about the game being generic though... well i'm guessing they are from idiotic 12 year olds that dont even know what the word means, its anything but generic from a visual standpoint.
I suppose you could argue that it uses the same system for the fighting and upgrading of the characther that games like Devil May Cry and its imitators have been doing for years. This makes the gameplay somewhat generic to its genre, but it does feel refined in many respects, and enough to say that its still not that valid a complaint.Last edited by rmoxon; 21-01-2010, 00:47.

The music, if anything, is very eclectic. After the demo I was expecting a Castlevania IV-style soundtrack and was a little disappointed on discovering it wasn't. Regardless, there are some excellent tunes. And some truly awful ones.
Regarding the
platinum ticket
, I farmed 200,000 halos so I could afford it's
999,999
price tag only to discover
10,000,000
bloody halos are required for it to appear in the shop. Seriously, that's mental, and echoes what I was saying in an earlier post about Japanese games requiring you spend ten, twenty, thirty hours doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over in order reach some silly target. They definately have a different philosophy when it comes to grinding/farming and are much more accepting of it than Westerners. I know I can't be bothered spending all that time collecting halos anyway, time's too precious. Not that it detracts from Bayonetta brilliance, just wish some of the the secrets didn't require such a heavy sacrifice in time.
