    Come on now mate. There is opinion and there is bordering on the ridiculous. I mean this is nothing like a "put 50p in to play" experience.

    I know you're not a huge fan of console gaming and you're more of a PC gamer yourself (from what I see on these forums anyway) but to call this game an arcade experience and vastly different to the original MW is rather baffling. I feel like I am in the Resident Evil 5 first play thread all over again. I am actually really baffled by your comments

    This isn't aimed at you by the way, but do some people actually go looking for faults when they play a game? Isn't it all about trying to enjoy a game first rather than pick out faults? Before I get hounded by certain people, these are actually genuine questions. It seems like with most games (especially the popular ones) some people go out of their way to criticise, just for the sake of it sometimes too.

      good point ezee ryder. some definitely look for faults, especially in AAA-titles, it's a lot of fun and others are just more demanding than a majority of gamers - and rightly so. i am sure i will enjoy the campaign more on my second playthrough - means when i am more adjusted to the shortcomings and got over the disappointment.

      by the way, why can't i use a gun in combination with a riot shield while my team mates can? this makes the shield pretty much useless in single player

        Bit odd?, especially after uncharted 2 let you do this in multiplayer (which is fecking awesome by the way if you work in proper teams and use it properly) cant you use it with a gun in multiplayer either? sure i saw some vids where you can?

          I thought that was odd when I first got the shield but then I just had too much fun bashing the crap out of enemies with after I got over that. Proper exhilarating!

            i am very close to the end now and can say the campaign gets so much better in the second half. there are standout moments and also a few story surprises. it's like IW left the best for last. guess this is better than vice versa

            no, the score is done by Hans Zimmer and mostly fitting. it's just too dominat in some scenes - most likely to make up for the lack of tension - and unfourtunately there's no way to turn the music volume down.

              I for one don't look for faults, I am just not blind to them. See I can say things about how you played it with out knowing anything about how you played it too.
              I don't see why my view has made you so upset, does everyone hae to like what you like and experance games the way you did ?

                That's a very valid perspective. Many overlook all kinds of issues on the latest Big Title, I guess people like being part of something and a big release is an exciting, communal experience.

                I have to say, the twin guns thing does put me off. Sure, the game was never realistic, but it stayed just about on the right side of 24 Jack Bauer style plausibility, which I really enjoyed. The twin gun things make it sound like an Arnie film more than anything else.

                Again though, I'm sure it'll still be a kick arse game.

                      Slow. Deliberate. Calculated. Horrific.

                      Probably the best one word summaries for that section. I hadn't seen the leaked footage but had pieced together what it was from the very few spoilered snippets that I'd read on forums and peoples reactions.

                      I've had time to digest it a bit more now and I'm still coming to a variety of different conclusions.

                      On one hand

                      my first thoughts were that it was handled as well as something like that could ever be handled in a game. For one thing there's no achievement at the end of that section which would have been totally crass!



                      Then again my overriding feeling, the more I think about it,

                      is that it's just hamfisted.

                      You could choose to be passive in that opening section, but the fact that the game directs you to follow Makarov's lead (after which he opens fire) means you're under direct instruction from the game to slaughter civilians.

                      That's an aside though and more than that, I'm not sure that the context and reasoning behind the whole scenario works. They've tried to turn the end of the chapter into a morality tale because the guy you're playing is betrayed and you, as a killer of innocents, get a bullet put into your head and left to die.

                      But rather than being your `just desserts`, I think they've overly used that to try and justify it, but the reasoning is just wrong.

                      I know the world is a bad place, but I have a very hard time believing that a CIA agent would actually engage in this sort of thing. If something like this sort of atrocity was going to go down, even on foreign soil, then they'd alert the authorities and stop it before the first bullet was fired. For giving them that info and saving countless lives, the Russians would have given them Makarov right there and then.



                      I'm just glad there was some suspension of disbelief thanks to the game

                      having some janky moments with bodies folding into one another.

                      That drew me back from it quite a bit, reminding me this was just a game and that I hadn't lost a large part of my humanity from what I was doing.

                        As for *that* section, having now experienced it "in context" I still call bull****.

                        It's WAY over the top and in MY opinion it's unneccesary. They could have made the point in a different way, but again in MY opinion they've just gone for the controversy.

                        As for you not having to

                        DO anything, I'm not so sure. The bit where the armed guards come at you, the AI seemed to not be killing them so I was stuck there because they just weren't able to kill them! Then I get the "help" telling me to "press < to select grenade launcher" and I realise that I kinda *have* to take action

                        .

                        I'm all for my chosen medium being taken seriously, but I didn't like it at all.

                              The patch you update at start of game block trophies from unlocking and this will be patched again on launch? Or is it like a timer? I know it blocks them from unlocking though.
                              If you wanna earn them though you can delete the update just goto game, game data utility on the xmb\dashboard then delete, when you get prompt again goto cancel and you can start unlocking, dont know if you have to start again though as it may not retroactively unlock previous trophies from the save.

                              Im enjoying this, forgot how intense Modern Warfare gets and this one does the same from the word go, currently stuck though on the brazil level veteran tis a bitch, seems I also forgot veteran playthroughs are like this. I am tempted to play on hardened and come back for a veteran playthorugh second time. Will see how annoyed I get.
