I'm normally an assault rifle guy but I love sniping with the Intervention.Apart from a couple of hundred kills each with the M4 and FAMAS, I've been using it almost exclusively during my current Prestige (the 2nd one).
Got 2 of them set up. Main one has a normal scope and Sleight of Hand Pro and I use it pretty-much like a long-range assault rifle, albeit one that kills with one shot. The other is a Thermal scope / Cold-Blooded combo for the maps where you can do some proper sniping and have more time to aim (eg: Wasteland).

to get the weapon iron (and gold) crosses for your emblem, do you have to complete the 500 headshot challenge for them?

Stick on Marathon, helps immensly when chasing people across Derail.
I've got 2 builds for an 'anti sniper' class for maps like Derail/ Wasteland.
setup 1
UMP45 + silencer
USP + tactical knife
Marathon
Lightweight
Commando or Ninja
setup 2
UMP45 + silencer
USP + tactical knife
Marathon
Cold Blooded
Ninja
These setups are really for me to hunt down the swines, rather than counter-sniping.
It essentially means running the outskirts of the maps and just knowing their likely snipe points. Setup 2 is a little better for stealth as most snipers will have heartbeat sensors and thermal sights.

I've just Prestiged for the second time, and I've gone from being an average, mid-table, type of player to having my arse handed to me in nearly every game I play. God, I miss the Stinger and the Cold Blooded Pro perk. The kill streaks are a nightmare when you start again and don't have access to them, and nobody else seems to bother with equipping Stingers or Javelins. I'm now feeling pretty guilty for all the nOOb rape I did over Xmas, now I remember how painful it is to be on the receiving end of somebody's Chopper Gunner or AC30.
I did have one glorious moment on Afghan in a game of Ground War. I was having a particularly miserable time to begin with, because I was in the process of pimping up my beloved Intervention with the Acog scope to unlock the Thermal for it, and I was really struggling, but for once I benefited from the dodgy spawning and respawned directly behind a group of enemies, who were too preoccupied with my teammates to notice little old me creeping up on them. Mister Stabby went to work. I must have knifed about 6 or seven of them before finally being detected.
That's what I adore about this game. I play for those sweet little moments. You can be utterly awful, a detriment to your team, but then occasionally the stars shift into alignment and you have a dream game. I think that's what makes the multiplayer so damn addictive. Eventually every dog will have its day.Last edited by PrayforMojo; 31-12-2009, 15:19.

I prestiged last night for the first time. After the initial shock of losing my custom classes I soon got straight back into it and I am back up to level 10 in less than an hours playing time.
I honestly hear people complaining about the matchmaking balance between player levels in this but I personally think it's perfectly acceptable as it is... you may lose out on the higher killstreaks and perks but with some quick rounds you're soon back on your feet. I generally started off with the scout (UMP45) class to begin with but as soon as your back to level 5 I picked up my trusty M4A1 and went on a rampage.
The next couple of matches I had just running with sleight of hand and stopping power I was getting around 15-25 kills a match with a decent K/D ratio and that was just with the basic killstreak stuff. Now I've got my first killstreak unlock I've gone straight for the harriers so I have care package > predator missile > harrier...
Really I think people become too attached to certain perks and weapons as they progress up the XP levels but the truth is the earlier weapons as just as deadly. You just have to get to grips with losing the stealthier perks and back yourself from the outset.

I'm at my 62nd hour and I seem to be hitting the tipping point many have been mentioning on here where over the last couple of days I've seen a massive increase in the numbers of host quitters, affecting lag and Nuke Spammers. Definately the games current low point. I kinda think for some modes like Free For All they should cut out the Invite a Friend option to limit these peoples chances of ending games early, despite how fun it can be if you stumble across them and annoy them by picking em off

It seems a lot of people are using shotguns now as well which can be annoying at times. I've been relatively lucky in that I've had not had too many games where people have just been purposely getting the nuke but I've had one or two. It's still the only game I REALLY want to play, even though I've just got several new ones for Christmas and a hefty back-log anyway.

I'm fed up of discovering tossers using tactical insertion to boost for nukes. I've noticed it happening more and more frequently, lately. It's become like a game mode in itself, trying to prevent the cheaters from getting their nukes.
Still, for all the teeth grindingly frustrating things you encounter online, the game can still be great laugh. There's so many ways to keep things fresh, just by trying out different combinations of perks, killstreaks and weapons. Or you can just take out your frustration by goofing around with the riot shield or tactical knife. My current favourite thing is sticking people with semtex, then running off, giggling like a schoolgirl.
I'm 37 years of age.
