Ooh, it's a bit good this, isn't it.
Borrowing it from work and I've ploughed 5 hours or so into it already
just on my way to the second dungeon, shooting angels with that weird Scottish giant
I really like how chunky it feels and how vicious some of Wars moves are. There are some nice graphical effects going on too but for the most part it's "solid".
I can see where the reviews have come at it from the "it does nothing original" angle but for me that's why it's so good. An old fashioned adventure game with plenty of violence and lite-puzzling to while away a few evenings.
I've certainly got less frustrated with this than I did with Bayonetta.

According to a mate I'm half an hour from the end.
This has got to be one of the greatest finds in ages, hardly any real press behind this but goodness me what a game. Truly chock full of "**** YEAH!!!" fistpump style moments.

Played a bit more last night - and yep, the patch has fixed the tear even if not the framerate. Good news. I played up until the point
just after you kill the Stygian
- more than a hint of SotC at points in that stage.
I am still enjoying this but I am finding some sections very un-necessary. I feel like in some ways they have tried to do too much with this. The gun sections for one, seem rather out of place.

Ugh, having some real frustration with some of these fights. Currently at the
Black Throne
on apocalyptic (first playthrough) and my strategy of going at it all minus items is backfiring somewhat. Given that a death in a fight brings you back to your last checkpoint at 50% life, and with enemies in some fights capable of taking off a good 2/3 bars in a short string of attacks, it's proving very easy to get stuck looping the same fight until you can manage to do it flawlessly. Appreciate this is my own fault, but still, 'tis testing my patience.

The fighting has a few awkward issues too. Dash and block on the same button doesn't work for one. There becomes instances where you're holding the button to block but you're not blocking and so get chinned. I'm not sure if there are any invincible frames on the dash either, I ended up using it to gain distance as opposed to dodging attacks as they come in.
I do have concerns about playing games on hard (just for the achievements) and getting frustrated with them. I'm finding myself drawn to playing on normal first, just so I know what's coming and where sticking points may be.

Interesting thing happened to me after the patch on the 360 version.. I just offed the
Stygian
and in it's death sequence, it reared up and.. disappeared. as did War. Then War reappeared sat on thin air and all I could do was pan the camera around. I saved to a new point, restarted and all was fine.. Weird though.
At
The Black Throne
and it's still not blown me away, just an alright hack 'n' slash for me.

Just picked this up again and got the patch to cure the tearing, to be honest I only noticed it in the lava areas so far so I am not really fussed about the patch if that is all it does :P
I stepped down to normal so I am going to see how that works out, I actually must say that War is so SLOW. I can see why they added the dash out of combat as well as in it.
