Playing this at the moment - and REALLY want to like it, but it's just not doing it for me yet. Just done the bit with the big scots bloke, but.. I dunno, it seems really bright and shiny for a game about a horseman of the apocalypse?
The weird thing is that this sort of game is usually right up my street - but it reminds me a lot of God of War meets Maximo meets Zelda. So I should be loving it?
Erk. I've just thought.. maybe I'm just bored of games? erk?!Last edited by k0pp0; 23-01-2010, 19:50.

I started this today and am enjoying it, but not to the point some others seem to have. I guess my biggest gripe is the combat being a bit mashy, and just the general borrowing of different gameplay elements making it a jack of all trades (but master of none). Also I am very very rarely a performance snob, but this does get quite choppy, and there is some really painful screen tear too. I can see why people are comparing this to Arkham Asylum but in terms of overall polish the two are miles apart.
Challenge-wise I'm finding Apocalyptic to be at the right sort of level but can appreciate it's not for everyone - generally speaking larger enemies can wreck you very quickly if they get a couple of hits in, and this can make some sections quite frustrating.

I found the first dungeon boss a little...well...I wasn't sure of the best way to do it, but that's because I really hadn't accepted that the game basically IS Zelda and you'll get a weapon mid-dungeon etc etc etc.
The second boss was just awesome to fight, I died once but then I realised I could own it very easily.
This is one of those games like Burnout Paradise for me, a game that is released very very early in the year and thus forgotten about come "Game of the Year" roundup time in favour of the big hitters with the big budgets.

In fact the same could be true for darksiders, I dont know though, havent tried changing it (if the game is even in 1080 anyway?).
