Unless you have 20 games on your "to play" list then this should be top of your "must buy" list.

If you like Zelda games you MUST play this!

First hour is "good" but when you reach the first dungeon, just wow, great fun.

I am not sure I am sharing some of the enthusiasm, it looks really nice and overall it is polished but I get bored with it very quickly I am finding. I have just about worked out the best technique for beating some of the bigger enemies and now they introduced some new ones.

I thought i am getting somewhere finally, then I got placed in with one of these bigger enemies and a load of little minions. Then I got my arse handed to me a couple of times and finally managed to get past that bit. Did a bit more running and jumping and one more puzzle and thought right this is enough and turned it off.

I'm not sure I really understand those complaints mate? I mean, you are basically describing the progression of any game out there.

You start off against easy things, get that sorted then it gets harder with bigger better, harder enemies. That sums up a huge volume of games out there!

I think the difficulty curve or maybe I should say the tutorial level is a bit out of wack. It taught me all this stuff really quickly and some stuff it neglected to say and pushed you out there. On top of that the big enemies see much more intense than I was personally ready for that early into the game.

Especially as I didn't realise how useful the cinematic style lock on camera was. I thought that it wouldn't make much difference as you effectively move further and seemingly faster away when not locked in which is fine for all the little enemies it seems but poor for the larger ones.

You must understand I wasted hours on trying to kill the big guys and then wearing them down slowly, then finding that guy up on the bridge and getting my arse handed to me for 2+ hours before actually reading a guide explaining how the bloody fighting works. I am pretty sure it may have been in part of the tutorial but it wasn't made out to be very important early on.

Also clearly it was so important I had forgotten by the point it became useful.

Also I just found the various areas feel a little bland, I mean yeah it looks really nice and detailed but there isn't much going on apart from a few stomping enemies and the areas are surprising linear. I thought they would feel more open and allow you to explore more than I have felt I needed to.

I guess I also wanted to find extra character or subquests to break up the slash this monster, climb around move a block or find a key puzzles.

Hmmm, if this game is handing your arse to you I'd stop playing games in general, its quite easy really and the combat is pretty much simple button mashing, which is a shame becuase the move set you have by the end of the game is pretty big, youre just not required to do much to kill enemies.

To be fair the game dosent even really get going till youre a fair few hours in, and the charm of it comes from the exploring and the cool dungeon designs and other adventuring elements, not the combat. Or at least i think so, it rips off Zelda in many ways, but it does it with style.

Here are my stats so everyone can have a laugh:

                  Total Game Time 06:50:39
                  Time in Combat 1:44:03
                  Total Kills 901
                  Number of Deaths 70
                  Distance Travelled 73.45 Miles
                  Total Souls Collected 9025
                  Highest Combo 46
                  Demon Blood Spilled 1591.53 Gallons

I am still guessing that more than half those deaths are from annoying one hit kill crap of the bigger enemies and working out how the lock on attacks function. I am getting a bit kick on the bigger knight guys with the ice attack having minions who hit you when your focusing on the ice knight.

So many times have they popped me with their swords. I mean could then not have made only the bloody thing your focusing on have a go at you not all comers. I believe I am only about 1/2 way through dungeon one as well.

*sigh* maybe it is time to hang up my controller and go play the Wii or some Casual game.

What difficulty are you playing the game on? I'm on normal some 9 hours in (been sidetracked a bit by Bayonetta) and am on the 5th dungeon, so far Ive had 4 deaths in total.

My biggest tip for the combat would be forget the lock on becuase the game locks on to enemies on its own in a fashion anyway, all the lock on really does is centre your camera on a target. Learn to use the dash sufficiently. Blocking is diffcult but dashing is much easier, also unlock the move (Ive forgotten then name) that lets you dash and attack at the same time as you can dodge enemies and attack others in one move that way. As I stated in my previous post though I feel the game really is easy and the combat requires little more of you than to mash buttons, I cant really fathom why youd be having so much trouble.

Off topic, but: what a horrible, horrible thing to say. You do not have to be good at games to enjoy or appreciate them.

People who think that Bayonetta gets more attention and unfairly so: Darksiders is actually outselling that game by more than 2:1.

                        Bayonetta bombed.

Probably because Bayonetta is so wonderfully Japanese but Darksiders is a Western game. Both are brilliant but I can see Bayonetta having less worldwide appeal despite it's quality.

How is it a horrible thing to say? I didnt mean it in an offensive way.

When someone complains that they arent enjoying a game becuase they are rubbish at it, then, for them at least, surley they must have to be good at games for them to enjoy them?

I was just pointing the fact out that, in the action adventure genre at least, games dont get that much easier then this, its not actualy any harder than somthing like Okami really.

Doesn't surprise me. As nonny said, most players probably can't look beyond Bayonetta's Japaneseness and see what a wonderful game it is.
