For all Darksiders' strengths, which are many, it was devoid of originality; and by taking numerous elements from several well known and much loved games but failing to simulate even a fraction of the charm that graced those same games I thought the final product a rather cold and bland affair.

I dont think it was cold and bland at all, I liked the story and War was a great protagonist, Ive never played as one of the horsemen of the apocalypse before so to call it devoid of originality is also not a true statement.
At the end of the day most games copy over games, Darksiders deffinitley copies other games, but it does it all relaly well and with its own twist.
Its a brilliant game.
I dont think it sold well though did it? Are they actualy making a sequel?

to me the blend Darksiders presents felt fresh enough to stick with the game until the very end despite its flaws.
but bland and cold - i don't think that's true. Charlie, may i ask how long did you play Darksiders?
As for Darksiders, I only played it for five, six hours, but also watched my friend sink several hours into the later levels. Maybe 'bland' was being too hard, but I didn't like the feel or 'vibe' of the game and, as I age, that's something I place greater and greater emphasis on.

yep, the game truly begins to shine later on when you've gained some more useful abilities like the harpoon or the portal gun. but that's also true for every Zelda game.
i forgot to add to the strenghts some very interesting designed Non Player Characters, which even add some humor to the dark story: Vulgrim and The Watcher.
i really hope THQ will continue the franchise and bring a sequel.

I picked this up last week too, and i'm also really enjoying it. Did a bit last night that was like Gears of War, followed by a short underwater section that was like Tomb Raider, then a bit that was like Metroid Prime. All broken up with Devil May Cry/Bayonetta/Ninja Gaiden style combat. Its made me laugh a few times, at how shameless the game is, in terms of thieving parts from other well known titles. Its thoroughly entertaining with it though, and for ?10 you really can't go wrong.

Fking tiamat was the reason I gave up on the ps3 version. Went out and bought myself a copy of the pc hellbook edition from a recent game sale just so I could use a cheat trainer to kill her. Talk about a difficulty spike! Wouldn't have been so bad if enemies respawned so I could stock up on healing items beforehand.

Probably had just as many problems with her first time through as anyone!
I'm not sure why you say that really but anyway...
The Boss, in line with the rest of the game, is very much a zelda type boss, in that it requires decent timing, but once youve figured out when to do things its not hard at all.
And BTW Daragon, I dont know how old you are exactly, but I personally dont have the mindset of a 12 year old boy, so i dont feel the need to go around telling people i have done things I havent... especially not anything as worthless as saying I beat a videogame boss in a few tries.
Reading how you talk on here somtimes, somthing tells me you really need to grow up.
My apologies if you actualy are 12 years old by the way...Last edited by rmoxon; 21-06-2011, 12:39.
