also Sketcz you seem to be getting very excited about a medium that you consider next to worthless based on your comments in the FIFA12 @ ?55 thread.

you place next to no value on software but are willing to waste 20h of your own time on a worthless piece of software that you actually dislike so much you feel compelled to vent about it here.

    all seems a bit contradictory.

He's just on a mission to ruin another site, just like he has the once amazing hg101 with his needless bitching

It's a shame really as i used to really enjoy reading this guys opinions. But stuff like this is just bile, if you don't like the game fair enough but you're explanations are just a load of bollocks really.

Apologies, I think I intended to say "this year" as opposed to "this gen". Maybe not, I can't recall my frame of mind at the time. I'd have to read the topic again, but there's a small handful of PS3 games I put more time into (about 5 or 6). Anyway, regardless, having hit this 20h mark and having not enjoyed the game I've now stopped.

How is it snobbery? I feel disconnected from the majority of gamers, I find that depressing. It's like being at a party and you're the only one there. It's not snobbery, I want to enjoy what everyone else enjoys.

Also, you mentioned my point about the back of the box - I only did this in response to Mekanor who accused me of inventing a game in my mind. Much of my criticism for ME2 is based on what I'd heard others say, what I'd read in various places, what critics said and - simply to prove a point - what the back of the box said. I didn't even read the box until I got the game in the post, what it said had already been discussed extensively in forums and in magazines. Seemed like an easy way to prove it wasn't simply invented expectations.

It's a pity I don't have a 360, because I'm pretty sure that ME1 would be precisely what I'd enjoy (based on people's complaints about its obfuscated and complicated mechanics).

I fail to understand how you've connected these two things.

        1) I don't feel games are worth paying more than ?30 for tops (~?20 is a good zone). This does not equate to me thinking the medium is "worthless". Books are free to read from a library but that doesn't make them worthless (I'm not saying games need to be free like books, but I'm shocked that you concluded I think games as worthless - they are not worthless!).

        2) I like spending 20-30 hours on games I enjoy. And when I've put 20 hours into something, waiting for it to flourish as promised, and it doesn't, I feel annoyed.

Regardless, I love gaming in general, and am happy to spend time discussing a subject I feel needs discussion, regardless of how much I feel games are worth in terms of money.

Any way, I've said my views, and left a mark should another curious buyer view this topic. The majority love it, but there are a few who will not. I doubt any of us will change each other's minds on anything. It now stands as my own personal benchmark for just how disconnected I am from popular thought.

Picked this up for ?4 of ebay, best ?4 i spent. Never finished Mass effect one down to not being sure where to go half the time and the god aweful buggy driving on the offworld planets.

Luckily for 2 they have stream lined it, got rid of the buggy driving, made it easier to navigate around the universe and know where your objectives are. Also seems more polished than the first with screen tearing a thing of the past.

Clocked up 11 hours already and have just finished recruiting the assassin Krios. loving the recruiting missions along with helping each member out to help fix their past. Even the little sub missions with helping your crew members get there food list or stopping of to pick up parts to help your engineers out I`m finding a joy to do.

Bioware have really done a great job in creating a living breathing world with interesting characters and species, along with a decent story to boot.

            ?4 BARGAIN!

4 pounds? Not worth it if your name is Sketcz!

Nah, ?4 is an acceptable price for something even if you hate it. I've often spent up to a fiver on known crap games just for the giggles. I spent ?27 on ME2. Any way, I finished it in the end. I'm now convinced I'm a fan of the first game - people tell me it had an overly complex inventory.

Sketcz, its kinda upsetting how much hate you have for this game, over the last few pages. Surely there are other games out there more fitting for such glowing comments...

Im not 100% conviced by ME2 either, but to me the pro's far out weigh the con's.

Gotta say though, when you dislike a game you REALLY dislike it... You are clearly passionate about yah games dude!

You only say that because I don't rant in the theatre, book or film threads.

Whatever you do, don't get me started on Cormac McCarthy - my hatred for his work is like an atom bomb, making my comments on mass Effect appear as though the words of a Carebear. Were I an alien and handed his work as an example of what humans can do, McCarthy's inability to write in a cognisant manner would make me think the entire species were illiterate and probably in need of either a) total eradication, or b) genetic modification so as not to be so horrifyingly stupid.

In truth my views on games only become passionate if I find that the majority disagree with them, since there's a need to make the opposite view heard. When others agree with me I sometimes don't even bother posting.

How late the the party am I?! Never mind. Such a well-realized universe, characters, lore and backstory, I'm loving it. The moral choices are interesting and impactful as well (showing up Infamous 2 for the pish it was) and I've found myself doing some regrettable things "for the cause". Currently balanced in my paragon/renegade stats., which may not be ideal but feels 'real' as I responded to the situations in the moment as honestly as I could. Playing as predatory bi-sexual FemShep and trying to get my alien-lesbian-perv on but having no luck so far. (Has put me in mind of James Tiptree Jr.'s 'And I Awoke and Found Me Here on the Cold Hill's Side' [1971]; amazing short story about human-alien sexual relations.) Got so frustrated that I even went for some conventional c*** from Jacob but he turned me down, so now I'm acting the aloof spurned bitch and giving him hell around the ship - lol this feels like real role-play. Combat perhaps not as great as dedicated 3rd person squad shooters, but I don't see how it could/why it should be. Mining is not nearly as frustrating/pointless as everyone seems to have made out. It's quite quick, easy, provides a breather, and hitting the motherload on some element zero is cool. Back to adventure!

lol... GOLGO, your Shepard is such a bitch! Look forward to hearing more of your thoughts as you progress... Ive stopped playing this for the time being, even though I am pretty much ready for the final encounter, from what I've been told. Im waiting for ME3 to drop before rinsing this.

As for the mining, give it time, you'll come to feel teh hate soon enough

@ 112: yep he'll rue the day he turned down my Shep...will break his rank and have him cleaning the latrines lol!

Do you think it's worth investing in the mine tool upgrade thing to offset potential future frustrations? I've got enuf of whatever it is I need saved up...

                            Well,

seeing as she was two years dead

, my FemShep might be forgiven for roaming the ship craving attention like a bitch in heat. But still she's not getting any action from the frigid, uptight crew and feels she is starting to demean and cheapen herself. Crew members give her sarky comments when she comes to chat, and they're all laughing at her behind her back...she just knows it. What's worse, she's taken to endorsing product to get store discounts. Some way for the galaxy's saviour to conduct herself - an unprincipled, money-grabbing slut! A space-faring answer to Cheryl Cole. After wrapping herself up in her duvet in her cabin to watch a few weepies on holovid and gorge on cookie dough, chicken wings and a crate of Lambrini (obtained at extortionate cost from a sallarian trader with credits earmarked for new ship defences), FemShep emerged stronger. Renewed. Resolute. No more pandering to shopkeepers. No friendly, informal chats with the minions. Time to shout, extort and maim her way towards winning back the respect of her crew. Back to adventure!

/ Yep, you could say I've gotten into this a bit too much. The only thing that breaks the spell of immersion slightly is space travel. Feels really disconnecting to push that silly toy ship around the galaxy map. Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time did this better, and even that was pretty crap (space travel on a 2D plane?!). Any news if this is addressed in ME3?

LMAO Golgo, you should write short stories or something, that post had me in stitches... Slutty FemShepard FTW!

I do recommend you get that upgrade for mining though, it will make a difference...

As for gettin' some action on board the ship, there is plenty of opportunities to sew them wild oats
