It's pretty regular in this one - certainly a lot more than the first where I remember doing umpteen missions, dying and being dumped back at the mission start in the Mako.

Has anyone else unlocked any alternative outfits for their team mates? I did the Zaeed loyalty mission last night (great side mission btw) and it said it had unlocked one for him but I couldn't see an option to select between them - is this what they meant by characters automatically selecting their own armour?

    edit: seems you can.

I've tried to avoid any spoilers for this but could someone tell me which planets (I'm assuming the galaxy map works similarly to me1) have party members on them? I like to pick up all party members as early as possible so they're with you for the rest of the game, ie I went to liaras planet first in me1, tatooine and then kashyyyk in kotor etc
Your first missions in the game are to collect some party members. This time the galaxy screen has all of your current mission objectives listed under the planet that they take place in, so they arent hard to find.

Got the PC version. It's the best.

Playing at native 2560x1600 and running 70fps. Awesome.

I spent over an hour reading all the Codecs last night. Most of which I'm pretty sure I'd already read in the first game.

                Oh dear

Miranda is based on the actress who does her voice (Sarah from Chuck)....

...and yes she does have bunny teeth

game is very good - kinda sad I picked Vanguard however, no where near as awesome as ME1 - should of gone for another class...

I can remember the minor points but anything minor is forgotton.
IIRC, the only info on there besides stuff like your class and level was whether or not you

                          saved Wrex

                          , who

out of Ashley and Kaidan died

, and whether or not you

                          saved the Council

. So you didn't miss much by not paying attention to it.

Mass Effect 2 has blown me away so far. I'm about seven hours in -

                          recruited the scientist and Archangel

and done some side quests - and it's a huge improvement in pretty much every way. It turned into quite a struggle for me to get through ME1 but this has been an absolute pleasure to play. Everything looks so much better and, as a result, feels more real, so that even the Citadel doesn't seem too sterile.

There's definitely that aspect to it - it's the same with the crew quarters on the ship. The background noise and the way it's actually populated with crew this time makes it feel more alive.

Same with the settings like The Citadel and Omega. It doesn't feel as sterile and empty any more which contributes to that sense of a big galaxy, teeming with life, just waiting for you to explore.

Only downside is that The Citadel Presidium is restricted to just one small area (at least, it is so far). It's cool that you can look over the rail and see people moving about, but I wanted to just go back to that area from the first game to see what had changed after the events of the first game and have a wander about.

Bit of a nitpick there though, since there's a tonne of new environments to visit rather than totally retreading old ground.

                              It's not just you.

I was considering restarting last night and choosing a different one because Vanguard feels so flat compared to the first. I think there's a few problems with how they've tinkered with it - Bioware themselves have sold it as a `high risk reward` style of play with the close quarter combat. The major problem being there is no reward to that CQC game style. And `Pull` isn't very effective after a while against the heavier opponents the game introduces or those with Kinetic Barriers.

I'm reading similar complaints about the Sentinel being a bit crappy to start with, and I hope that the classes are just a bit nerfed at the lower levels. Reading up on the abilities and stat boosts for each class, it seems they do open up at the higher levels.

Yeah, the audio's brilliant too; lots of ambient sound and very good use of the surrounds. It's a definite demo game for 5.1 systems.
