    Sonic & SEGA Allstars Racing

I've had about 90 minutes with the 360 version and I really enjoyed myself

Firstly, the framerate is better than the 360 demo. Judge your purchase with the PS3 demo if you can. That said, it's still the games biggest flaw. It struggles to meet 30fps a lot of the time and there's some tearing too. The 60fps snobs who peruse this forum should stick to Forza Personally, it doesn't bother me much. On the flip side the game is very pretty in places and extremely colourful, which is refreshing these days.

The tracks are a decent length and usually spacious, designed with the drift boost in mind. I have to say however that no matter how much cool trackside detail and fan service the different themed courses bring to the table, the actual layout design is pretty average and often uninspired. Most of them have a very F-zero GX or Rainbow Road feel. This does give the action a lot of room however and corners are usually easy to see coming (as is crucial for split-screen).

Handling and controls are solid. Drifting feels a bit like Outrun would with a drift button and the boost works just like Mario Kart, as does pretty much everything including the weapons and this is another valid criticism - it's a clone with SEGA characters. Realistically though, what more would you want?

All in all I feel the game is to Mario Kart what Superstars Tennis was to Mario Tennis, and despite its flaws, I really enjoyed Superstars Tennis. If you can forgive a lack of originality and a less than smooth framerate, its a fun, well presented, colourful racer bursting with character and SEGA fan service. We'll see how balanced the whole experience is and if multiplayer holds up but so far its well worth ?30 of any SEGA fanboy's money.

agree pretty much...only gone thru the GPs on beginner so far so cant comment on the challenge but the tracks are motly very well designed.

frame rate and tearing are not really a prob, infact tearing is hardly noticable.

online it seems Banjo and Ryo are winning most of the races so might be worth learning them. plus someone add me as a friend so I can get the achievement

could be great fun with mates so will be telling everyone to buy this

Got to say as well nice to have a lobby where you can flip on/off private slots on the fly, and the net code seems really robust too.

Really enjoying this. Never had much of a problem with demo unlike many others however saying that, I can def tell this was surely the version they would of wanted you to try first. Loving the characters and some nice tracks to play on. Online works well and having a blast with that. The mission games will keep me busy for a while. Looks lush, nice tunes. The Sega Miles will keep you going to unlock plenty of goodies. A lot of Sega love has gone into this. I'm a big Sega fan so i'm happy. Also it's nice to play another decent kart game other then Mario Kart for a change. Def does not deserve the stick it's been getting.

Played a little bit of it and it's awesome. Just listening to samba music throughout the stage is awesome!

If anyone has it on the 360 add me: Elaniel

No one on my friends list got this game.

Assuming there's some kind of set of "grand prix"'s (ala mushroom cup, flower cup, star cup) - can you play through them 2 player split screen?

What modes does it have online? Racing obviously but does it have battle modes or any other game types?

I probably will buy this being a Sega fan but I'm very disappointed about the frame rate issues. On a console such as the 360 or PS3 there's no excuse for a racing game to run lower than 30fps and what's with the tearing? The demo didn't seem that graphic heavy to me. The biggest disappointment though is that Sumo Digital produced the amazing OutRun SP for the XBOX which was arcade perfect (or as close as you could get). Like I said, impressions are good from those who have it so I will buy it down the line.

I played about 45m last night and didn't notice frame issues which had bothered me on the demo.

really enjoyed it, its a zippier Mario Kart clone (sorry Sol but it is a clone, a huge amount does seem a straight 1:1).

I was playing in a dark room and its almost eye achingly bright and colourful.

seems like lots to do and not touched the online or missions yet. nice

I'll probabaly be getting this on the 360 but for the poeople with frame rate issues I'm just wondering what the Wii version is like?

Presumabley the graphics arent as good, so I'm wondering if the frame rate issues are better?

Not sure. Never saw the game do this in the arcade, but it happened plenty of times on my Xbox.

I had a go on the 360 version last night and it really brought a smile to my face. The music is great; tracks from HOTD, JSRF, sonic etc etc and there are loads of unlockables; music, extra race tracks (all themed from sega games), sega characters etc.

The frame rate is a big distraction. As previously said, it dips fairly low then in some places shoots up to around 60fps. Not sure why it wasnt just locked at 30fps? I suppose the age group and target audience its aimed at arent really going to be to bothered, but if it was smoother, it would dramatically improve the experience. I didnt get any tearing @1080p.

My main draw for this is that it's nostalgic related fun and it's only real competition is Mario Kart Wii... which is one of the weakest Mario Karts Ninty's ever made.
