as an outsider in this debate i am finding it quite amusing.
I say that as an outsider as i have never played reach, but have toyed with the idea of picking it up. having said that this thread hasnt really helped other than to highlight my issues.
I loved halo, i put my first xbox in the kitchen at uni so we could all have a kick while knocking about the flat, and it was great. it was the sole reason a friend of mine brough an xbox.
With halo two i dived at it launch day and hammered it in coop and then gave the multiplayer a good bashing over the next few days and it was ok but not great.
halo three i got it cheap and pushed threw it and didnt really enjoy the multiplayer as much, it just didnt click.
having watched the halo franchise progress, playing each installment i seem to have enjoyed them less and less. wanting the joy of the first to come back and it just hasnt.
with the debate roughly sitting even, still not as good as the original, and others with the; best thing ever. i am still non the wiser and i have less and less patience with games that dont 'do it' for me i still cant bring myself to play this latest halo installment. The potential for me to be disapointed is just too great to commit to making the jump, unless it is really cheap.Last edited by concretesnail; 05-11-2010, 16:44.

I actually don't think that Reach is the best Campaign instalment, I actually really loved 3's campaign (flood n all).
I only remember about 3 of the levels from Halo 1, the nice big outdoor ones, but from what I remember of the rest they were all boring interiors with flood everywhere or just shiny grey rooms and coridoors full of covenant.
But I do think it has the most versatile, varied and robust multiplayer experiences of any of the game's

Weirdly enough, the campaign in Reach is the only one I've actually bothered to finish out of all the Halo games (though I got close in 3- may have to box that off soon). The campaign is very good, but that was never the main draw for me anyway. The multiplayer in this is absolutely top-notch. It's solid, impressively comprehensive, extremely slickly executed and, above all, just a ****load of fun. Totally addicted to the online at the moment. Marvellous.

I just did this on Legendary, dunno why really, I guess I just wanted to complete one of the Halos on Legendary and this seemed as good as any. It was obviously harder than Heroic (duh) but not as impossible as I thought it would be. The only bit that drove me insane was the last room before the big gun.
I think the trick to doing the harder settings is using the right gun to kill certain enemies.
What was Halo 3 like on Legendary? it must have been a damn sight harder than this with the dreaded flood :P

On legendary I found Halo 2 the hardest, followed by Halo 1, then ODST then Halo 3. The first level of Halo 2 might just be the hardest level in the whole series which is a rather tough introduction.
I think the flood are easy to be honest as like the Brustes they can be picked off or worn down by attrition. I think all the greatest difficulty spikes are sections with loads of Elites.
