I felt the demo was like Prince of Persia 08 too. Didn't feel like I was in much control. Just press the button and jump onto nearest bit of scenary, repeat, repeat, repeat. Not for me.
*Edit* It's got "£19.99 by Christmas" written all over it.Last edited by Skull Commander; 08-10-2010, 09:10.

Started this today, its absolubtley brilliant.
Having played through the somewhat dull Castlevania Lords of Shadows recently this is so much more fun and I wish I hadnt bothered with that other game at all.
Just great in every way, The first big proper blockbuster type game Ive played for a while, shame its sales probably wont be as spectacular as its set peices.

Played through the first chapter and a fair bit of the second last night. Quite enjoying it, although I have a few niggles:
- What are these red red orbs I'm collecting? I mean, I know what they are but the game has made no attempt to tell me yet.
- Why am I not more angry with Trip for enslaving me? After a few seconds of rage I now seem to have accepted it fully, despite being a character clearly not usually known for reason.
- The controls in tight spots (navigating the mine areas for example) are poor, there seems to be a little lag there which is making it difficult to judge at the moment.
The combat seems OK. You're swiftly punished if you miss a block or evade, but that's to be expected on Hard. Looking forward to playing some more. :-)

Heh the orbs was a strange one indeed! I too knew what they were for - what else could they before?! Yet the game makes you wait for longer than you think you should! Still by the time it 'tells' you, you should have a nice quantity built up for the 'what you know they are for'
I never quite got that one either - I guess it's to do with the old
If I die, you die
and other related issues!
I have to say I never found the controls too bad in the tight spots like that, but then I perhaps went a bit more cautious than some might!
Combat is great though isn't it - once you get the hang of the timing required to block and when to dodge etc, it all comes together nicely!

I haven't actually been killed via the mines, but those moments have been more tense than perhaps they would have been if I'd have had 100% confidence in the character doing what I tell him to do. Hopefully it's just a case of adjusting to it - it's perfectly fine for fast sweeping movements, but a little clumsy for the finer points of control.
Playing on hard teaches you very quickly to use the blocks and dodges well.

I'm a good way into this now (Chapter 11). I'm still enjoying it, but I can see at the moment why people are concerned about Ninja Theory taking on DMC.
Production values are fantastic (Although Trips VO seems a little laboured at times) and some of the settings are just stunning, but there are some places in the game that the performance drops below what I would consider acceptable levels (And I have a HIGH tolerance for frame issues).
The camera during combat is often atrocious, meaning I'll usually spend the first moments of a new encounter trying to evade into a position where I can see what's going on (Which leaves you open for attack against some of the faster, tougher enemies) and I find the timing for some of the mechanics hard to get used to - I can't reliably pull off the counters in this, whereas I almost lean on the parry mechanics in God of War, and since unlocking the Focus Attacks the only times I've been prompted to use them is AFTER I've taken down an enemy (And I've been trying to vary light/heavy attacks to see if it helps).
The Cloud is pathetically contrived, even for a game that respawns staff ammo automatically in areas where they didn't bother giving you a means of getting by without it. How come it works in some areas and not in others? I don't know, it just does! Priceless.
Since the inconsistent start to the relationship between Trip and Monkey (Why does nobody ask why this is his name? It seems obvious, but in the only real dialogue in the game about it he says that some traders call him Monkey - why would a trader be aware of his athletic climbing abilities?) it's developed really nicely, and I met
Pigsy
last night who has added a nice little comic relief, while also seeming like a genuine character (George Lucas could learn from this).
As always when I give prolonged impressions I find the negative points stick in my mind more, but I am really enjoying this anyway. Recommend anyone that hasn't started to play through on Hard first - it's a challenge without being frustrating, and I think playing through on an easier difficulty might make it a bit too much of a breeze.
Plus it should be nice and easy going through a second time to clean up any outstanding trophies. On that note - is the % scale in the chapter select the only tracker you have for the tech orb collection? Can imagine finding the last few of those might be a bit of a 'mare.
