regarding the AI, am i playing a different game to everybody else?
i'm seeing the cpu try to overtake each other and myself quite a lot, and certainly not in a single file line constantly.(which of course is how most real life races are a lot of the time)
anyway, overall i'm loving it. but the G25 is knackering me.

It really is a case of some fancy visuals and improved handling. Ultimately it is still the same game. That isn't to say there is anything wrong with that of course, for some it is perfect but others wont see it like that.
After a day of playing I can say I love the handling and feeling of the cars, but the things surrounding it not so much. I think I came to the conclusion that its simply not 2004 anymore. I was addicted to GT4, even though it had no online play and rubbish AI. Its performance was at least consistent, no bs with different treatment of cars, tracks or anything.
So yeah enter GT5. Its actually better and more diverse than GT4 if you look into it, but I fail to get addicted to it... for now. The brain dead AI (in the career events it surely is) I didn't mind once is biting me in the ass now, and since online either doesn't work and when it does its underwhelming, I'm feeling a bit clueless. I don't know if I can still bring myself to grind this game for the most expensive cars. I really try to enjoy it, but might be in the same boat as teddy. I think its good that the scores aren't that high overall. Maybe it'll bring PD back to the drawing board.
I also have NFS around and well... I'm starting to think I prefer it. Its short burst approach suits me fairly good.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 24-11-2010, 20:12.

Anyone aiming for all golds in the licenses? In my youth i'd certainly would, but now that i'm older and have other things to do with my life i'm just moving on as soon as i clear them.Last edited by SuperBeatBoy; 24-11-2010, 20:35.

my 2 cents worth after 2 hours play with the official wheel
its.............gran turismo!
if you are expecting a huge swing towards something new,you might be disapointed. i cant see that much technical difference to GT5 prologue. Loads to do; looks massive. Infact alot of the early cars are more akin graphically to GT4 in 1080i mode; alot of the standard models of car even have that "2D flat wheel rim" look of GT3. Loads of bonus stuff; karts, nascar etc. Fun times ahead, but think the developer has been smoking the crack pipe for at least 4 years of the 6 in development.

I think PD either restarted a few times, got into a deadlock and ultimately had a desperate for killer app Sony at their throats. Or GT is another victim of the HD era + J-Dev, just like Final Fantasy XIII is. Long development cycle, but ultimately something that looks like a rushed package.
I don't want to believe this took 5 years (6 would be too far fetched I guess) of development. Just as I don't believe it in the case of FFXIII.
What puzzles me is that this game did cost Sony 60 million bucks to make?
But loving the WRC events, really. I wish PD would start with developing a full WRC game. Finally some 60fps goodness there.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 24-11-2010, 21:14.

Its there for peeps who don't want to play themselves. It was introduced in GT4.
I used it when I was too bored to do some certain events. Put it on B-spec with a good powered car, took a **** and came back to witness I had won. I think B-Spec is cool to have as an option.
I reckon that if this is your first GT, you might resort to B-spec at some point during career as some things will become repetitive eventually.Last edited by saturn-gamer; 24-11-2010, 22:34.

Having been a GT fan since the first game I have surprised myself for this game by not even pre-ordering. I am still in two minds regarding an order to get the game by the weekend.
I presume this game is region free? My UK PS3 died so I am using a US machine.
Having seen the full car list there are maybe a couple of dozen cars that interest me. The rest are almost "seen it all before".
Looks like getting all those cars in GT PSP was a little pointless if you are only allowed 50 of them.
How intrusive is the Penalty system?
Are there prize cars for the license tests? It always frustrates me that I miss out on cars due to an inability to get gold on all the tests.

I've just played for about an hour using the G27 and it really changes the feel of game, you get so much more control but it's much harder work. Seriously, I was using the Jeff Gordon NASCAR on a wet track and it took ages to learn to control it.
It was bloody hard work too as if you get something wrong you really have to fight the wheel to regain control which is really how it should be. I was knackered after a few laps although I did spend some of that doing donuts all over the place which of course I was doing on purpose.
I didn't adjust any of the settings or programme any of the buttons so a lot of the extra stuff in other cars like the wipers, lights & horn weren't able to be used.
I'll hopefully spend a bit of time this weekend configuring it properly and possibly getting some steroids to build up the muscles in my arms and legs.
