I'll keep Mong for now, as he should be alright in early races, but who should I go for next for when I wanna leave him racing overnight or whatever? Someone who is well balanced or a hot head?
    Kept you waiting, huh?

A hot head with an overpowered car I reckon. He will aggressively battle himself to the first place right away and will likely stay there.

You might consider connecting a turbo controller with a taped X button on the Increase or Maintain pace option if your going for the very long races. A TE stick works wonders.

Great, thanks. I'll get me a hot head then.

I shall use an FC3 with Auto-Fire on O (JPN version GT5) for increase pace in that case. Thanks again.

in a normal car you will have to buy a spoiler from the gt auto shop (the one with painting etc), rather than the tuning shop (where you get most upgrades)
the nascar will already have what you need though. just look at the settings option before starting the race, and you can fine tune all sorts of stuff.

tonight i've spent far too long trying to turn my A-8 license silver into gold, and still cant quite do it. incredibly tight time for such an early one.
got close thanks to some tips off youtube, but its quite suspicious just how many peoples 'gold' vids fade out just before they cross the line and you get to see their times

I finally managed to Gold the last bit of the first license. It was the Megane at the Nurburgring GP that took me ages to get. I gave up on the last three of the S license. I am not fan of the emphasis on overtaking because you get the stupid penalties. Bring back the old S license where you had to record a good lap on a selection of courses. Much more within my level of tolerance!

You learn how to overtake in the races and if you make a mistake you don't get penalized for it.

Done the NASCAR seasonal event now, so cheers for the various tips.

It was racing softs, an oil change, max downforce and a top speed of 217mph that did it for me in the end. Won with a margin of 4 seconds or so, but my race was far from smooth and I cocked up a couple of times (almost abandoned the run when I went off track on the second lap, good job I didn't!).

That final section coming off the straight where you go downhill/uphill and into the start/finish complex is just so much fun in this car. You can barrel into it at top speed and maintain the speed almost to the wall, the brakes are so good. If you just let off the accelerator you don't really need to touch the brake at all!

I left the track a few times on the run. As I was still facing in the right direction and hadn't lost too much speed I continued. Need to send my tuned NASCAR Camry to the ID that I am working through the Seasonals on. I still have the RX-7 event to do as well.

I did indulge myself in a little Customization to the Mustang GT I used in the Seasonal on that account. I fitted the Aero Parts, Unpainted Carbon Hood and the Black wheels with yellow nuts and rim stripe. The highlights on that wheels look a good match for the colour that I used on the body of the car. I do like the way it looks now. It has 399HP (with some running in to do) and Racing Hards.

Created another (permanent) account and managed to get the '65 Shelby GT350R as my Birthday Gift. With my investigation on Engine Overhauls I am less than impressed with what they actually achieve, so I wanted a new GT350R!

I also started up the game on my fiancees account. Got it to level 1 with a few license tests, then sent the Mini Cooper GT over from my main account. With only that car (and in about an hour), I was able to climb up to level 19 with 100 million credits in the bank, and a few seasonal events still waiting to do (hoping to level enough for the NASCAR after a couple more). Grinding schminding!

I bought all the cars I needed except the mini, as I only wanted to do this to save some money on my main account. No point in having useless cash kicking about, and it seems you can only send one car per day.

I also bought the Delorean and a couple of other nice used cars on that account which I will send over to my main to play with

Two things I noticed - when I sent the mini back, I got a new racing green paint chip - that makes 2 received from one car. Is this the trick to duplicating paint colours? If you repaint a car and send it to someone do they receive the paint chip for the new colour?

Secondly, I have 206 paint chips but only 55 cars. I assume this means the Japanese version DOES gift paint chips every day, it just doesn't tell us about them?

                  Comment

The US and Japanese version don't let you know about the Paint Chips they give every day.

If you Gift a car to someone you keep the original colour Paint Chip and the recipient of the car gets that Original Paint Chip as well. I presume the new colour Chip goes with the car. Not sure if you keep that as well.

You can Gift one car every day, which for me as far as GT5 is concerned runs from midnight to midnight. If I had not sent a car for a while I could send a car just before midnight and one just after midnight, but the next Gift would not be possible until just after midnight the next day.

I now seem to have a decent supply of Silver Chrome Paint Chips if anyone else is interested. You can Gift 5 Items (and Museum Cards) in every day. I have 5 on each of my alternate accounts that I can send every 24 hours (restoring the save after being naughty!).

I wouldn't mind, and I don't think you are actually on my friend list - will send you a request anyway, paint chip or not!

                      Comment

Darwock there are a couple of Chrome Paint Chips heading your way!

I seem to spend too much time doing things other than racing. Joys of multiple accounts I suppose. Have to make sure I save the Chip influx every day! Also made sure all the other accounts had 5 Chrome Chips. Also sent the GT350R to a couple of accounts (sent to one and then sent to another... keeping one on the account of course!!). I figure with the amount I am going to have to pay to buy all the cars in the game I have no objection to getting a few free cars along the way.

All I need now is some kind soul to give me an X2010 lol!

A few days ago I said on GTP I'd missed the NOMAD Diablo and someone sent me one! Needless to say it was in the UCD shortly after... twice!

Decided to make use of some of my money and bought the Citroen GT Concept (2 million credits). Decidedly rapid but no good in a long race I suspect, as the Extreme Euro Rome race took about a third of its battery. Total range is about 30 miles then... or thereabouts.

i too started on one of my foreign accounts the other day. after seeing Bassman talk about similar things for a while it only just twigged what a great idea it was.
gifted myself the ford gt i used for the new seasonals (level 15 doing just that one race!). then with that prize money bought/did all the others, and will send them back to my main account to do there over the next few days. i cant be bothered with save delete/restore stuff, but its still cool. loads of spare money left on the other account too

How have you got to level 19 with 100mil dude? I've been playing for an hour since I restarted and I'm at level 9 with 11mil. I have only done the beginner and amateur kart events, and license tests up to IB. I also bought the cheapest car I could find, which was about 800,000-odd.

Even if you didn't need to do the same race over and over I'd be surprised if it'd be much if any quicker, how much money and xp do you get?

I'm level 40 in B-spec now by the way, should finish the Nurburgring 24 later today...

On my PAL secondary account I have almost 5 million credits (PAL game) and still some events to do. I don't think I will quite make it to Lv 25 on the remaining ones as I am Lv 22 after the ones I did earlier. If I complete all the "normal" Special events as well I will maybe see Lv 25 and have all the events available having done nothing in A spec or B spec at all!

I will be gifting my most used (and hence most powerful NASCAR Camry after midnight to that account so I can get the big money and experience and inevitably some duplicate cars into the process). Actually seeing as the car will be doing the rounds of my accounts (eventually ending up where it started from, I think I have my work cut out). At least I will get very used to driving a NASCAR Camry round the 'Ring as rapidly as possible... and maybe even staying on the road for the majority of the time!
