Can't say I did, I just kept looking at the rocks thinking that the Unreal Engine has it's own look.

When I say it's ugly , I mean that the enemies are gross and everything is dirty and broken, so it's not pretty.
I do think it's very gears of war though, although with a much more sci-fi feel.

As if by magic, Digital Foundrys view on it.

For those dick-tits that aren't man enough to read it all...
      TL: DR
      PC > 360 > PS3

Better visuals and more consistent performance give it the edge.

The scripting seems to have broken. Reloaded the level and everything
I had a similar problem. Trishka got stuck in a running animation on top of a bench. Fire at them until they take enough damage to play a hit reaction and it will shift them from where they've got stuck.

How is performance on the PC? I have an aging 4850 coupled with a socket 1366 i7 @ 2.93Ghz which can manage some games at 2560x1600 but usually lower, there's not been enough that's made an upgrade worthwhile. If the game runs fairly decently I may give it a shot now but if it's a performance hog will probably hold off.

LOL. I've had the same, "This looks like a first person Gears game" impression. Very similar art style, the characters could be moved across and you'd never know.

Wonder if anything from BS will be implemented in Gears 3 - can almost picture Gears with a spear gun, impaling an enemy and dragging them towards you for a chainsaw finish. Or even better, your teammate to chainsaw for a tag team combo.

this has the best sniper rifle ever

played a couple of echos whcih I found pretty enjoyabe.

something in this really clicks for me, I love the story, controls, graphics, dialogue, whole thing really. which is quite odd as I don't like FPS and don't go for score attack type games.

This is ace, there is some really funny dialog in this too . The argument he has with that girl about shooting each others dicks off had me laughing out loud, its epic too some fantastic set pieces and I'm loving how it tracks what kills you have done, it really dose appeal to the obsessive compulsive in me.

Had a go on the demo earlier.

It was canny. Graphics looked the part. I liked the special shizzles, and the targetting of the grapple thing provided a decent leeway for a clumsy oaf like me. It felt natural after Just Cause 2 to have grapple assigned to left bumper. Grappling, kicking, then shooting was enjoyable. So was booting people down the holes. Gun was a bit underpowered, but it didn't matter in the context of the other stuff you could use.

Not too sure though if a score attack game like this can hold my attention very long. That video explaining everything to start with got on my tits. Information overload. All my problems I suppose.

                    I'm using an HD5870 with an i7 930 @2.79GHz (6Gb ram). Running at 1920 x 1200.

Can play it on max for everything although for AA which I turn off anyway as I don't think it does much for the performance hit. FRAPS is showing 60 FPS but I'm finding it feels less for some reason.

Its not a score attack game, the demo is of the score attack mode.

The main part of the game is the campaign mode that was not even shown in the demo.

                      And its absolubtley fantastic.

Stupid thing to do, but hey-ho. So does it have a proper story which eases the player in?

Yeah, it does, in fact the story is actualy quite good and drives the game along nicley.

The demo was a poor representation of the game, the campaign is epic stuff full of stunning set peices, the demo didnt really show what this game was at all really.

That's a real shame. I'd have liked to have seen such goodness.

It is a shame, this deserved to be marketed better, Im playing both this and Killzone 3 at the moment and Im finding this the more impressive of the two by quite some distance in almost every way.

Considering Killzone 3 has been so hyped and this has basicaly come out of nowhere its deffinitley a pleasent suprise.

You have a funny definition of coming out of nowhere, seeing as Epic and Cliffy B have been hyping it to the skies and flooding every major gaming website with trailers, screenshots and interviews for it for months.

And if you think you can enjoy the campaign while ignoring the skillshotting, that's great - one more reason I'd buy it. (Haven't yet. Wasn't interested until I heard a lot of people saying yes, it's trashy pulp, but it's really well-done trashy pulp.) Still, every review I've read does say skillshotting to earn currency to buy weapons and ammo in the campaign is a important part of the gameplay.
