I've had it since yesterday and I'm loving it...I wasn't actually expecting it to be as good as it is and I've been moaning to my friends about how nintendo have ruined my favourite franchise...but i've come crawling back now.

I'm in two minds about the fact that you don't have lives anymore. Its makes the gp's pretty close but if you mess up on the last course you have to do the whole gp again. Still, it makes it harder then MK64 which I've always secretly believed to be inferior to the snes one, except multiplayer. Co-op is great fun though!

Well i`ve ended up buying the mario kart package just to play this game as i`ve only got a US cube. But for ?100 i got a black cube, mario kart, the ltd edition zelda disc (never got round to playing majoras mask so looking forward to that) and got them to chuck in a official rgb lead and memory card for free . Its a fantastic game though, i`m glad they`ve kept the left, right speed boost from the n64 version and the 2 characters per kart does add abit more vareity to the gameplay. The courses in general i`ve found quite good and look nice. Can`t wait to start unlocking more characters and it`s nice to see koopas back in there

what kind people chucked in all cool free gear?

I realise that i may be i minority of one, but i'm returning this game first thing tomorrow.

I think it's awful. The handling is certainly aquired, the graphics and sound are decidedly average but i will try multiplayer tonight, and hopefully this will improve matters.

I don't know whether it's me or Nintendo (i'm expecting a few posts saying that it is me), but their latest releases haven't been of the quality i'm used to. Zelda was pretty, but awfully boring. Mario Sunshine lacked any real sparkle, and Mario Kart DD is nowhere near as good as i'd been led to believe.

Is it a case of Miyamato being spread too thinly over too many projects. The last game I thoroughly enjoyed on gamecube (other than the mighty Animal Crossing) was SSBM.

I can quite easily envisage Nintendo going the route of Sega unless things make a miraculous turnaround with next years releases.

          Prove me wrong Nintendo, please

You guessed it - I think its you. But you are entitled to your opinion. I think you want to create controversy or a shock reaction with your silly "I'm taking this back first thing tomorrow!" followed by "Unless multiplay turns out good" comments. Well to be honest if you think the handling sucks then it will only be multiplayer suckiness so you may as well take it back now.

In fact, I think SSBM is one of the weaker titles published by Nintendo on Gamecube. So there you have it! Everyone has different tastes!

To be honest after a few hours playing I have to agree with you, the handling is a bit of an aquired taste, I just can't get on with the heavy carts at all, they just feel wrong. Whereas, the medium/light ones feel fine to me. I suppose if none of them feel right you are stuffed!

I thought the graphics were OK, nothing special, look shoddy close up but not a problem for me. As for the sound, well...it works, but the music is annoying (apart from the whistling stuff, and the sad whistling when you don't win is great).

Until late last night I would have agreed that there was no magic, but it has grown on me to the point where I can't stop playing. DK mountain is just 'fun' and the speed on 150cc is just right.

And I have to say that I thought SSBM was a bit poor IMHO. Personally I found that dull, but there you go. Don't like marmite either!

That would be game Can`t say i was a fan of the 2 free games on offer (star wars bounty hunter, clones wars) so i asked what sort of deal they do me with the items i asked for and said i could have the RGB lead (?20) and memory card (?15) instead of the 2 free games which was fine by me

To the people that have done Special Cup on 150cc what is the best combo / cart to use.

This is the only gold trophy I need apart from the ones unlocked from beating it.

Can't seem to do it at the moment.

Unlock the last 4 tracks for an even BETTER game. And people saying the graphics aren't that good-WHAT?
Get an RGB cable and play in 60hz! On my TV the graphics are stunning-very nice to look at, and especially on secret levels it's even better. Add surround sound and a big tv and the game gets even better. To appreciate it even more, go on time trial and explore the levels for loads of shortcuts and to see all the surroundings. Have a closer look at dino dino land, mushroom raceway (wrong name but the one with the bridge), luigi raceway. I've only been on them in time trial and found shortcuts in each.

The graphics/music are stunning-I bet the people who say otherwise, are huddled around a cheapo 14" tv with one speaker. I don't mean that literally-but the graphics/sound are great.

Is it me or do you think Nintendo are going a bit overboard on the colours? Every thing is just too darn bright and colourful. Wish the games had a bit of a darker look to be honest.
