OoT is a great game and remains such, certainly better then Skyward Sword! Wind Waker was always my fave though - can't wait for the HD release!!

I find it amusing that people are complaining about there not being much going on in hyrule field. Its a field. It's basically just a hub to the rest of the world. If you're finding the field a chore to traverse then I would deffinitley not recommend playing latter zelda games. As Dogg Thang has already alluded too, latter games had a world map that were much more boring to traverse. Spend hours seemingly going no where in the boat in windwaker and you will see what I mean.

Also in agreement with Dogg Thang about links Awakening. Incredible game, especially considering the system it's on. My favorite Zelda game.
I've played other Zelda games. And it's not that Hyrule Field is a chore to travel across, but more that it no longer elicits that sense of wonder and possibility that it did in 1998.

Well, it did when I played through it again on the N64!

Like I said, it's still a good game and I do enjoy playing it, but after doing so now I'll no longer think of it as being one of the greatest I've ever played. I didn't get the same feeling after I re-played LTTP or Link's Awakening though.

Link's Awakening is better though, stunning game. Also 2D with good control doesn't age. A lot of impossibly hard 8bit stuff has but more sophisticated stuff from the 90's is timeless.

Playing through the game myself at the moment, and I do have to agree with this statement. I much prefer Majora's smaller, denser overworld to OOT's field. Having said that, the dungeon design in Ocarina is simply superb (bar Jabu Jabu which is the worst dungeon in the entire history of Zelda games).

Far from the best game in the series, but certainly the one that had the biggest impact upon release.

Hmmm...I quite enjoyed squelching around in Jabu Jabu's belly. Some tricky new baddies in there too. I've never played Link's Awakening, though, so I might have to get that next (Color version on 3DS shop for ?3.50).

?3.50 eh? If I could only get my 3DS to link to my Club Nintendo account, I could use that ?5 credit I have to get it. :/
                    Kept you waiting, huh?

An absolute bargain. I have the GB cart, but I think I'll grab this on the 3DS as well for convenience sake.

If you've never played LA, you're in for a treat. Of course it's impossible to know what it's like to play it for the first time now, but I think it's the most charming Zelda and I find its overworld the most interesting and, for me, the dungeons are fantastic. It doesn't take itself too seriously and it doesn't outstay its welcome (LttP, I'm looking in your direction).

Link's Awakening is my favourite Zelda and has IMO certainly never been bettered as a portable Zelda. Koholint Island is a magical place where bananas can be traded for dog food and shopkeepers can be robbed.

Sorry, I made a mistake. It's ?5.39 not ?3.50. ?3.50 for something else I was looking at (Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins).

I'm quite liking this title. I don't like it as much as LTTP though.

I'm about to enter the Water Temple. Since the Fire Temple, I've been doing mini-games and side-quests, but this is now my only way forward. A guy at work tells me that it is the most difficult part of the game too.
