Yeah, it's probably the most complicated of them all. I've completed OOT countless times but I still got stuck a few times on the Water Temple on my recent 3DS play through

I'm about to enter the Water Temple. Since the Fire Temple, I've been doing mini-games and side-quests, but this is now my only way forward. A guy at work tells me that it is the most difficult part of the game too.
The water temple is the most confusing dungeon in the original game. However I think it has been made easier in the remake. I'm not sure it is the hardest one in this version. I didn't have problems with it like I remember having on the N64 version anyway.

I think some colour coding was added to the temple in the 3DS version. Being honest, I barely remember my original N64 experience with it but my perception is that it felt much smoother with the added help for 3DS.

I just went through the water temple with little difficulty. The shadow temple seems more difficult IMO.
          Kept you waiting, huh?

I have never understood the troubles with the water temple.

I remember as ten years old, playing through that - perfectly happy thinking: "wow, that was cool!"

Never once was I confused or left uncertain what to do next unfairly... It just require a bit of thought. And I was ten!

So recently playing through on the 3DS reminded that I still do not understand how people get stuck or confused. And i honestly do not mean that in any sense of arrogance, purely wish to understand.

Is it because the temple makes the player explore multiple levels in various orders? Is it too easy to lose sight of your next goal? Is the sense of exploration to find the path too ambitious? Unclear?

Sometimes it's just odd design. Take the second tower of the Fire Temple 5F- when I played the N64 version I spent quite a while trying to get to it before giving up and moving on, only to find out that you need the Scarecrow's song to progress. Didn't stop Navi from flitting up to an otherwise inaccessible platform though, which was confusing at the time.

I must admit I never got stuck on any of the temples.

The real problem with the Water Temple is that you constantly have to put on/off eavy boots and oher objects, requiring to access way too many times the same menu

Is that much easier on the 3DS too? I think it is. I seem to remember being able to switch with a button press.

The Water Temple is much better on the 3DS as you can change boots without using the menu.

Just finished this. Glorious dungeons. Fairly pointless overworld/economy (rupees almost permanently maxed out), which I'm sure was h'amaze for its time. Thing is, Skyward Sword is not much better in this regard. I still cling to my dream of a linear Zelda game, just 10 or so dungeons strung end to end. It would be called Zelda: Dungeons and would be the best thing ever.

Same thing as in the Uncharted 2 thread Dog, for it's time nothing could touch it, and IMHO it's still THE BEST GAME EVER.

Well, I was playing Metal Gear Solid the year this came out, and that game can certainly 'touch' it.

I got bored of this and gave up on it shortly before the final dungeon. I really liked it at first, but I found it very repetitive. I much prefer LTTP. I should have just bought MGS3 in the first place.
