This or Ikaruga? Tricky. I generally like the gameplay of RS more but Ikaruga really got me obsessive over trying to perfect the levels while RS doesn't so much.

I love shooters but this is rubbish. What a ****e game, i don't think I've ever been so let down by a game! I hated bangio, but this is worse. Another god awful trial. They expect that to entice new players? Dream on.

Didn't like it very much when I owned it for my Saturn, but this time It's a lot more fun. Mainly playing story mode. Also tried the Ikaruga chaining mode and that works pretty well. It's a little too hard for its own good though.

I've been playing way too much RSG since release. Grinded out very hard story mode whilst leveling so Normal is a romp now (until later on). LVL 33 weapons make you death incarnate. >

          Info so far about unlocks.

Arcade, you unlock a credit every hour up to the seventh when you unlock freeplay.

Story, you unlock a life/ship every hour (highest I've seen so far was 33 hours and he hadn't unlocked any continues).
They don't appear to have kept the saturn unlock system.

I've had mine powered on for over 50 hours now and still nothing else unlocked. Seems odd to have kept the power-on time counter if it doesn't actually unlock anything anymore.

Yeah I noticed that too Story mode is messed up the life system is totally broken in two player mode as you share the same lives and when you lose your last life both players instantly die.

Guess Microsoft and Treasure can't be trusted to not **** something up, real shame as it means the story mode is just totally broken at the start in two players.

Been playing the Saturn version as well and notice that there is slightly less slow down, 360 version of RS is also running slightly faster a bit too fast in some section same problem with Ikaruga, DC version is also sharper.

Even with my weapons at level 33 I still can't beat Story mode on very easy, and reckon I need around 20 lives which is looking like too much of an investment in time and too much of a chore.

Having beaten Arcade, I must say I was disappointed to discover levels 5 and 6 are bosses and nothing else because after levels 2 and 4 my imagination was alight and I was expecting all sorts of crazyness. So that was a let down. Good final boss though, reminded me of Rez. And still a great game overall.

Anyone here confident of unlocking the 1CC achievement?

You'll need more than that. You have to do 2 and 4 and their are five more bosses in story.
If you fancy melting you 360 you can just leave it paused in a story game and the time will still count, or just watch a youtube run through.

Handy you can pause it and stack up time/lives that way. May have to resort to that.

I can get to Stage 5 in Story Mode with my current 10 lives and my weapons at level 33 but the last 2 bosses are plain silly. Indeed I've yet to better either, even in Arcade mode they self destruct before I can kill them.

It's just plain bizzarre that they changed accumulation of continues (in the Saturn mode) to accumulation of lives in Story mode.

Anyone know which weapons are the most effective against the Stage 5 and 6 bosses? Despite having 18 lives now thanks to the pause trick I still can't stop bleeding lives when I hit Stage 5.

If you are just playing for survival, and on V.Easy.

5A, use Vulcan and dodge the homing yellow shots.
When you enter the fallopian tube use Vulcan to shoot the egg until it gets hectic then switch to Homing (sway side to side to catch the side crawlers that evade your shots). Once you pass the egg use the back-shot when you can and Homing when it's hectic.
Just always try to stay in the middle in between the recesses.

                          SBS-33K.
Homing and move up and down to hit all of the ships.
Once the laser blow stay towards the bottom and try and avoid the shots. If you get hit just ghost into the safe space at the top.
Then just Vulcan and avoid. When it's firing the reflecting laser stick to one side and pay attention to the angles.

Not sure if you've seen all of the level 6 bosses so I'll spoiler.

                          6A -W(--)W - Vulcan

6A - Varas - Homing or Spread depending on position.

6A - Bechew - Vulcan then spread when you have to kill the turrets.
Then switch to the best when spinning or use homing. Then back to Vulcan.

                          6A - Ohtrigen - Vulcan.

                          6A - Xiga -
Form 1, running man - Spread.
Form 2, upside down - Vulcan then spread if he more to the side.
Form 3, spinning - Vulcan or homing if you get out of position. You can also use spread from the side.
Form 4, falling shards - Vulcan.

That was great advice, Bort, and helped me get to the penultimate running man form on the same number of lives. I really wasn't expecting any extra bosses after beating Stage 5 so they came as a surprise and cost me a few lives. Strange how they aren't in Arcade mode.

Im kinda of getting into this and kinda of not as the same time its a strange one for me i have one question i see you can acumulate points by grazing bullets and walls does this level up your weapons or is it just for a score bonus .
