To be honest, I think it's just that my usual tactic (melee) is to block with my big sheild and armour and circle around doesn't really work haha. I will try again tonight as it was getting late. I am sure someone has done it with their hands tied behind their backs blind folded in less than ten seconds though.

So in theory I can unmodify my lightening spear to spear 10+ then use a boss soul on it?
        Yep.

There's the Greatshield of Artorias or the Crystal Ring Shield; the CRS is more of an offensive weapon though, especially if you have a strong right hand weapon.

Had a jolly old time in the Tomb of
last night. I got stuck at the bonfire down there, and took a lot of attempts at either getting further in, or going back the way I came. I eventually managed both, but yeah...it took the non-passable

          orange mist

at the bottom to tell me I went down there too early. Grrr etc.

I've been avoiding Sen's Fortress all this time because of how the game drums its supposed difficulty into you...but I really think that's the next logical place. I made pretty much no progress last night and had to do a bit of farming in the Darkroot Garden to claw a bit of progress.

I still love you though, Dark Souls.

Must say I feel a bit disappointed in the game. The game isn't anywhere near as focused as Demon's Souls was, from level design to the combat, bosses and the NPC's it just seems like a pale copy.Maybe I just played to much Demon's and have become jaded but I can't see myself putting in a fraction of the time into this.As ItsThere said if you like this and haven't played Demon's Souls you owe it to yourself to hunt it down.

But the open world and less 'focused' design is fantastic! The world is huge and the exploration is all the better for it! It really is a great adventure I'm in love with this game

What you got to do is speak to the
sitting by the pillar in Blight Town, and go to modify equipment. It will go back to pyro glove, and from there you can ascend it to +5 and then cap off.

Does pyromancy scale with any stats?

^^^ This for me. I am fairly early into the game but am loving it at the moment.

                      I guess it doesn't

Seems like the flame glove maxes out at +20...

Just got rid of O&S. Hard and annoying, but not quite as tough as I quite expected them to be though it did take me about 15 goes. My tactic:

Beat the slayer first. I just pelted him with fireballs as much as I could. Since I'm fairly levelled and my glove is levelled too, he took just a few direct fireballs to go down. Powered up Ornstein was tough. My successful attempt had me playing as far away as possible and using flame when he charged at me but clearly too far away to hit me. It's obvious why people feel this is an unfair boss fight though. The lock-on can kill you whether it's on or off. When on, it can be on the wrong boss and the other can can you unaware or flank you. With it off, you're running away from the bosses and even with your shield up, you'll be vulnerable to hits from behind. If at any time they corner you, then you may as well give up.

Good luck to people attempting them.

EDIT: Just got the item after fighting them! Woohoo!

O&S were the last berks I did.
                          Found them quite easy.

Mixture of Stone and Havel Armour with Steel Protection and Havel's rings. Pop Iron Flesh before entering then just Great fireball or Orb them if they are at range or Combustion if they are stupid enough to come close.

I did the most stupid think ever last night. Bought Firestorm, equipped it at the bonfire at the Chaos Servant Covenant wench. Decide to try it out and forget I'm standing next to her... completely ****ed over my pyro run.
Tried running over to turn off my 360 but it was too late. ;(

The Pyromancy glove however scales with stats and each upgrade also increase the magic assist. At +11 you get an A and at +15 you get a S in INT scaling, so it's goingo to do quite a lot of damage if your INT is high.

I've read reports that it does not actually scale with INT, only the melee fire glove punch scales with INT. Maybe pyromancy with INT scaling would be ridiculously overpowered?

anyone has a good melee tactic for the prowling demon near the first blacksmith? i have 8 fireballs, 5 potions, shield and longsword at my disposal and already managed to get his health bar down to 80% but eventually and suddenly he jumps at me and i am instantly dead - blocking or not.

also what about the kindling thing? do i need to kindle every single bonfire i come across to get more than 5 estus flasks?
