Good, I like getting up close. As long as I can block, dodge, parry then I see no reason to need ranged attacks. I did worry when I went up against the

    butterfly

though. I wasn't sure what to do so just dodged for a bit thinking 'oh crap I'm screwed' but then it landed and I was happy.

I used nothing but a bow in Demon's. Yet to start this, but I figure I'll do the same again.
      Kept you waiting, huh?

Aye. Though I'm just soul farming O & S as I cheesed them on my first try. Iron Flesh > survive opening salvo > lighting spear spam Smough, then playing musical chairs with Ornstein around the pillar with the crystal ring shield. SL 45 and willing to help guys get past them if anyones around.

I still think it's quite viable for pulling enemies out. But as a main tour de force, nah.

Have to stop for a minute to say that this game is brilliant.

The sense of adventure, reward, fear, pace (areas being revisited for different reasons), the anger of dying at your own fault, the anger of dying from a "what the fudge?" moment, the sense of mystery of not-clear-to-get items or direction, the one more go factor and the "I'm giving up for now, but I shall return far more determined than ever!" and the rest.

If I think about the things I forgive about this game. I mean, I'd never forgive them in the majority of games out there but here I just gloss over it because I appreciate the ambition and the we-don't-care-what-everyone-else-is-doing attitude. Even when I stop gaming I reckon I'll still play Miyazaki games as long as they carry on in this vein.

I've never really ground souls in my first playthrough and ended up at level 85.
As with NG+ collecting souls was relatively easy, I chose to purchase the Crest of Artorias from Andre and see if the

Darkroot Garden area beyond these gates is really the farming paradise everyone speaks about...

I did kill everyone there during my first run but probably souls weren't enough to justify the cost for the Crest.
On NG+ thigs are very different: getting the souls for the Crest is easy and it's repaid in the first run,

even without killing every human past the gates.
The archer drops 15k souls, a special bow, twin humanities and a hat; the two knights 9k souls each; the thief is worth 9k souls; the cleric and the mage are both worth 6k; the bandit drops 3k. Sadly the archer and the knights don't respawn, but even with just four humans left I was able to get 5 levels within an hour.

I thought the road from INT 9 to INT 20 wouls have been long, and now I stand at INT 15 before killing the

              Moonlight Butterfly

              or the

              Gaping Dragon

              .

Reached the last boss earlier. Lvl 89, 98 hrs.

I'm going to hold off for a few nights to grind out some titanite, max out some quality armour, buy all the spells available and probably lvl to 110-120.

i finished the game finally 110hrs playing very cautiously and a **** load of grinding and my level beginning ng+ is 225
stunning game which im gonna keep on playing til i plat and achieve max stats of 99 across the board.

If it's like Demon's you'll have to play for about 25 years to get everything to 99.

i can't switch targets while using lock-on - is there anything tricky about it or is it broken?

Flick the right analog stick up or down to cycle through targets.

So, rung the bell after doing over (whilst standing behind two other adventurers) the two gargoyles. Thought I would venture down into Londo von Bango (?) where the ghosts reside, but I've no more curse crystal things to use after being sandwich by ghosts. I hear some lady vendor has more, but where is she?

Also, is venturing down to the ghosts a sensible place to go now (lv15), I dont think I have anywhere easier to go do I?

First non-productive night last night. Tried the

                            Wolf boss

. Managed to help 2 others beat it but unable to myself :-( Then went into the depths, did ok for a bit, then

                            got cursed

. Went back to the asylum and took the

                            new knight

down. Then had a dozen goes at

                            Stray Demon

. Got close a couple of times. I reckon I could do it when not
. Oh, I did get the

                            stone armour

but I'm pretty slow in that. I've been taking the
on with no armour and wearing the
                            (?) ring so that I

                            cartwheel

                            instead of
. It's just a matter of not being impatient. Unfortunately it was 2am when I was fighting him so I wanted my bed!

                            I got a bunch of

different titanite by leaving the crow various things e.g. different types of moss, rubbish, my pendant (actually that got me something else). I think I joined another covenant too. Oh I did the gold/bronze golem and now there's a sorcerer I can summon

. Ok, not a total wasted night then.

Would now be a good time to do

                            the ghosts

                            seeing as

                            I'm cursed

                            ?

@hoolak - there's loads more you can do before

                            the ghosts

. If you do the stuff I did then you could venture to the
                            , get
and then you can do the
without worrying about getting any stones? (await responses to my question above!)

                              Come back later

I got all the way through at around your level only to hit a locked gate and didn't find anything memorable, I think I'm finally ready to go back there some 20 hours later and see if I missed a key

Can you spoiler stuff up please mate? I'm playing through with as little internet help as possible (I googled wtf a covenant is, should have been explained in the game imo) but offering help to those who want it. So in response to your boss question,

I killed the wolf in mage kit by staying under his legs, he's got a mad dashing attack but he doesn't hurt you by touching you and misses his sword attacks up close often
