    ^ good advice Silvergun: tempted to start a simultaneous run-thru. There's a

    locked gate

in the tutorial level as well that I couldn't

find the key for. Think it must link to glowing loot viewable from level below. Gate is behind the only armoured/shielded skeleton in the level...Any ideas? The Thief's Master Key doesn't work, btw.

Later on, you get the ability to travel back to the tutorial area mainly with the purpose of getting items from that bloody bird nest.

I think there could be a key you obtain throughout the main game area that unlocks this gate in tutorial area.

Oooh - forget about the SixAxis gesture system. Wasted about half an hour trying to get them to register properly, gesticulating to myself like a lunatic. I was expecting it to be utterly superfluous but it finally clicked and it works really well.

Purchased a 'shrug' from the Cleric.

ps.: ta Silvergun, was wondering if/how

        Crow would feature again.

The basic enemies sometimes do that frenzied berserker attack which makes me laugh for some reason. Except when they hit me with it of course.
That is NASTY for my health when they do that.

          What's really, really annoying is

those rapier soldiers that you initially spot guarding the Knight's Shield. If they're holding their sword out straight and pointing the tip at you but not attacking, they WILL parry you and riposte.

Because I'm running thief with entirely light armor, it kills me in a SINGLE hit so you really need to be on your ball with when to attack and when not to.

Yes! I hadn't spotted what it was that signalled they were going to do that. need to take my own advice - Stop Being Crap. Patience.

So, for the current boss battle
will I be able to Climb up top, drop attack him, climb back up, rinse and repeat? Or will he tear me off the ladder when I try to climb back up? Only takes a couple of minutes to find out I guess! I think the locking is better in this game than in Demon's.

Oh, I'm not meant to go downstairs yet no? I've been there but those
            are bastards. Also the

            graveyard skellies

            slaughter me pretty quick.

Lastly, I didn't choose the master key as my gift (I chose the crappest sounding gift in the hope that I'd be rewarded for doing so later on) and only picked up 2 other keys. Lots of stuff locked. Will these keys get dropped later on or do I have to get them some other way.

Ah, thanks fella. Also, can I lure a single one with an arrow/bolt (someone dropped a crossbow just before I went to bed last night)? I always seem to pull a pair of them.

Oh, don't understand the humanity thing either. I know I could go to the wiki and look it up but somehow if one of you guys tells me it doesn't feel like cheating but using the wiki does!

Almost. Once you've done it once, run all the way to the other end of the bridge and get him to follow, then dodge past him again and climb up the ladder again. That just ensures there is a nice little gap between you and the boss when you start climbing again, or else he will probably smack you while you're climbing.

RE: Humanity - You earn this piece by piece through killing enemies, so you will probably randomly find that your humanity count has just gone up by one at odd points. You also gain humanity quicker off some enemies than others, and this can also be picked up as a usable item.

Humanity is spent mainly in two ways - To turn yourself into human form at a bonfire, and to kindle a bonfire. Each of these cost one humanity.

Kindling a bonfire gives you 10 estus flasks from this bonfire instead of 5. That's the immediate benefit.

The benefits to being human are an increased drop rate, different NPC reactions (some npcs will talk differently or more favourably to you if you're human) and increased curse resistance. You will also be able to see other players summon signs and bring them in to help you in your world, whereas if you are hollow you can only be summoned.

If you are human and carrying extra humanity, this offers you extra curse resistance and a further increased drop rate as long as you have it.

... I think. This is all based on research from various sources and wikis, I still need to verify it all myself.

Yeah, don't do that. Which is what I did for the first 3 hours before chancing upon the route to the undead burg.

Man, this is one of the only games this year that I've been itching to get back home to play. I literally can't wait until it's dark enough outside to see the screen. Bloody sunlight eh?

Cheers for the tip on spotting foes' parries. They've been a right nightmare so far!

FSW: as far as I can tell at this early stage, Humanity is just the option to get yourself alive at a bonfire and open yourself to real online play (invasions, summons). I'm sure the mechanic will gain in complexity/significance as we go deeper into the adventure, though.

Hehe, knew this would happen. I’ve had the game for over a week now but the vets are onboard and in a day are already finding things I missed! I’m level 39 now and just about to ring the second bell. Really, really getting into it now, cannot wait to get play more!

An hour ago I was considering feigning illness at work to go home and play. It's like Demon's all over again! Can't imagine this kind of discussion over the next Zelda:

                          Q. So, how did you kill the Mega-Gorgon?
                          A. The same way everyone else did

One thing I did do was take a quick look at the weapons available.

                          45 unique swords

                          . Holy crap.

Wow, it's that great Demon's Souls feeling all over again. Just played my first hour and really enjoying it. I have died a few times like.

This is a completely new experience to me. I never played demons souls. But I'm loving this just as much as everyone else is.

I should really be working, not sitting here doing constant Dark Souls research. I'll turn into a walking wiki at this rate!

had a rip on this last night - its pretty much demon souls 2. Very good, but not quite doing it for me as much as demon souls did. Will get get stuck in tonight though -
