I'm playing on Hard just over 5 hours in (Chapter 12) and was honestly surprised to see I've killed about 280 people. About 180 of those were with a weapon, the rest with melee combat & stealth kills - I like to think I've only knocked out the other 100 though. It hasn't felt like a wave of 280 enemies. I can't say I've struggled with the aiming either but maybe that's because a) I'm only just past the gunplay-lite first half & b) maybe most of my kills have been at a closer distance and I mix it up with melee. Certainly, when I'm firing across a courtyard & the enemy are darting in and out of cover, it hasn't occurred to me that I'm not killing them sooner because the aiming is off.

and I don't think I've ever seen anything so graphically stunning as this level.
You're saying it gets better!!??
Such drama and immersion, haven't seen that in a game for a while.
Oh, I've made it my mission at work to make everything sound dirty. Sully is the man!!
EDIT: Can people spoiler tag their Chapter / percentage completes please? I don't want to know how long the game is versus where I am. If that makes sense? Ta.

ok - now put a few hours into it
for me, the aiming is broken; it reticule moves in a square motion, instead of a fine circle. Trying to shoot accurately, is a nightmare.
the fast, fluid gunplay of 1 & 2 were amazing, not so with this
What where they thinking?
anyone tried online yet? Is it the same - I dont remember the beta being clunky - really couldnt face it if the aiming is the same.
please bring a patch out and at least give us the option for 'the classic' control lolLast edited by dvdx2; 03-11-2011, 18:13.

I'll have a look tonight and see if I can figure out what you're talking about.
dont go looking for it.....
for me a slight movement of the analogue (in aiming mode) moves the reticule about half an inch across the screen.

I've just seen this video which illustrates the dead zone-related issues I had when attempting to fine-tune my aim.
It wasn't enough to ruin the game, but it was certainly enough to make me dread gun confrontations in the final third. Is it really not like this for most of you guys?
Regarding load times, the very first load was pretty long when I inserted the disc for the first time (presumably it's partially installing data), but continuing from a saved campaign is a shorter load time than it was in the previous two games I found.

Naughty Dog have replied about the issues.
Aiming is identical to Uncharted 2 - we took a look at the values side by side. We did adjust the sensitivity to be MUCH higher in Uncharted 3 to give you a more precise feel. With Uncharted 2 it was pretty much guaranteed you would aim in one of the 8 directions and it was hard to deviate from that (imagine it being almost like a traditional 8-way arcade stick)." According to Richmond, "With Uncharted 3, you can deviate from the straight path from each of the 8 directions much easier and more precisely."
So, contrary to some complaints, sensitivity has gone up. However, enemies also change positions faster now, "which changes the flow of gun combat as well, from what you were used to if you're coming off fresh from Uncharted 2."
"In uncharted 2 the bullets would leave the barrel at a pre-set deviation when you were aimed in," says Naughty Dog. "What this means is that the bullets would not fire straight out of the barrel all the time -- they could come out at an angle. Therefore, you could have a target clearly in the reticle and still miss it by a wide margin." In the sequel, "bullets now fire straight out of the barrel 100% of the time,".
That's not to say they are not looking into it, they have sent invites out to some people to show them Nov 4 at their studio, may get patched soon-ish.Last edited by Family Fry; 04-11-2011, 01:58.
