Thinking about picking this up but does it matter if you haven't played any of the previous games? Can you just jump in without knowing the backdrop of the story?

Going to play multiplayer, or something else 'til they fix the aiming. Hope they do as I currently rate this the worst single player campaign of the 3 titles

I'd say it's possible to play this without having done the other 2 though they're well worth doing. I'm up to Chapter 16 now after some epic bits. Personally, this is on its way to being the best singleplayer of the 3.

You should definitely play the first 2 games first, Nathan Drake is such a great character and this deals with his past quite a bit, so knowing the character makes those scenes all the more enjoyable.

Plus they are both really good games, and uncharted 2 in particular is one of the best games ever made. So I feel the whole series is essential gaming really.

I've dwelled far too much on the aiming controls in this thread really and haven't stressed enough how much I enjoyed the experience outside of the shooting.

All of the trailer moments were fantastic to play through, and I particularly loved the

            desert traversal sequence

            and the visually outstanding

            Indy-inspired horse chase

            in the final third.

I regret watching the trailers in the run-up to this, though, as I knew what to expect from key sequences such as

            the Chateau and aeroplane

. It was still mighty enjoyable to get hands-on with those chapters, though.

Definitely looking forward to my next Drake fix when Golden Abyss is released.

Haha talks about conflicting info haha

got my copy through the post Wednesday but its still in the wrapper with me playing Daytona USA, Battlefield 3 and Gears of War all before MW3 comes out Tuesday so I can trade them in.

I dont want to be diving in and out of Unchartered 3 like I am doing with these games I from playing the previous two, its best to give it your full attention!

Looking forward to it though as I have all next week off to play this when I am bored of MW3.

its not as good as 2 was - add the sh1t aiming and i'm disapointed.

theres way way to much combat in this, i want to explore and stuff, but if you mess up just once about 100 suits appear, its dumb, im cursing it already which is pretty rare for uncharted game, even scripted bits when its me vs 100 guys ****s me off

or maybe its this shooting bug people posted about, either way i dont like it

I think im somewhat with the dissenters on this, the set pieces that don't envolve a million suits(or pirates) running out of closests and the surperb graphics just about keep this on par with 2. I'm up canyon bits now and found myself far to often shouting at the screen for dying multple times (on normal) to what i think are unfair deaths, often a cloest will open behind me and i won't hear them coming over the sound of gunfire only to notice when they shoot me in the back, i do like that there is no safe place for long so you can't just camp but it just happens so often they'll chuck a grenade and it will land just outside the "press triangle" prompt but close enough to blast you out of cover and i feel they've made the melee fighting to long just let me punch them twice at most not go enitre rounds with them while over people shoot at me, as the system feel just right when you get those half scripted single strikes on stairs or near ledges.

I really could do with some autoaim and as it feels way to often i have the sights on the enemy but miss entire clips somehow, and once they start darting between cover i just can't track them on a dual shock crappy sticks. Best comparison is Halo2 in its day, better graphics and set pieces but a step back for gameplay.

Well, great news and I'm glad I stopped playing for now as it looks definite that a patch is coming. Some people from Neogaf were offered invitations to Naughty Dog studios in Santa Monica to test the new aim system. First bunch of feedback is coming out now:

Oh for ****'s sake! They're now bringing back motion blur!

I absolutely HATED motion blur in UC2. I even started a topic here asking if maybe my TV was broken. When I heard UC3 did not have it, I was so relieved, so pleased, so happy...

Now it looks like I either have to suffer with borked controls and crisp graphics, or correct controls and VASELINE all over my eyes.

Christ almight, I didn't ****ing paying ?200 for vision correcting glasses so **** can go all blurry again!!! AARRRGHHH!!!!

Please, if someone here has a GAF account, post there so those cockbags can realise not all of use like being ****ing myopic and some prefer clarity!

At the very least I want an option.

i'm glad i read there is a patch comming , i get no pad lag whatsoever but aiming diagonally is weird as hell , it kinda aims diagonally at small gradients , definatly not how it should be.
played up to chapter 5 but gonna stop now and wait for the patch, fantastic game though, visually unreal on chapter 2 and definatly unmatched in the graphics department.

                            Finished,

at least most of the level didn't feature 4 clip monsters to kill, i was on a downer when those flame headed guys showed up turning it in to a really dire experience just like the ending to the last 2 games, thankfuly that ended soon enough and i only had to deal with alot of quick deaths from unexpected rocket and grenade launchers perched up high often out of sight which had me shouting "fk off" at the screen a couple of times along with the earthquakes throwing aim off and stumbling you out of cover and into rockets...

Well I enjoyed it, these guys do character interaction better than anyone else in the biz, but the balance between combat, puzzle and exploration is biased too much towards the combat for me this time round. Still a very good game, but the second one is better.

Really? Im finding this much less combt orientated than either of the previous two games, theres much more variety this time around IMO.

Even when the combat does happen Im findng it to be delivered in much smaller doses than in previous games, which makes sense becuase I know a few people have complained that the combat goes on a bit too much in previous games, especially the first one.
