How many people has Nathan Drake killed? He must be about at Hitler figures now, right? With the Vita one, that probably pushes him up to Stalin levels?

I have to say I enjoyed this game as much, if not more, than Uncharted 2.
edit: musing over the plot removed. I forgot this place isn't about that sort of talk any more and we'd all rather argue about technical issues or which company is best rather than actually discuss the games themselvesLast edited by Spatial; 09-01-2012, 10:06.

Having replayed Uncharted 1-3 last week in anticipation of playing Vita Golden Abyss, I have to say my opinion of this game changed a little with all three fresh in my mind. Although i'd posted earlier in this thread of my opinion on it, i'd now like to say that this is probably my favourite of the lot. All three have their issues, but they don't take away from what a brilliant series they are. If anything, what became clear to me was how rose tinted my memories of 1 & 2 were, but that's not to say they aren't brilliant fun. The fact that i've sold off all of my completed games and now only own 3 PS3 titles, all Uncharted games, shows how highly I regard them. Having the time to play games as much recently with being on holiday has really made it hit home how good we have it gaming wise these days. The sheer scale, beauty, detail and atmosphere of modern day games is truly staggering, the work that goes in when you really look at what you're playing is mind blowing. I for one think we're in some sort of golden era. Though I know few will agree..............

So I guess no one in this thread is having the same problem as me, my game constantly crashes on Chapter 8 and because of that I've not been able to progress. The game works perfectly up until the cutscene, when the cutscene plays the screen turns black and pressing any button will crash the console. I'm 100% certain it's only Uncharted because all of my other games run perfectly; I thought it might be the disk but I can't see any scratches on it.

The ridiculous amount of combat in this game bugs me. Mainly because I really don't find it enjoyable. It frustrates me. I do like the hand to hand combat and, where it can be used without having another guy just standing beside you shooting, it's fun. But the horde waves just aren't my thing. I'm not sure why but, when I die in this, it annoys me more than most other games. Why is that?
Partly because of the odd stupid death maybe. Like the mechanic of throwing a grenade back, for example. In many places Nate just throws it against the very place he's taking cover and it blows up at your feet. That's a frustrating death. Or those times when an enemy just walks up to you and shoots you while hou're busy shooting the bunch of guys in front. That shouldn't annoy. After all, I should have seen him coming, right? But it does annoy.
And it may have something to do with the checkpoints. The checkpoints are really close together, which should minimise frustration. But they go weird sometimes in combat. For example, one section was supposed to be stealthy. I made my way around, taking each man down. Was doing rather well until I made a stupid mistake toward my destination and was gunned down. Then the checkpoint loads and drops me somewhere I don't even recognise with a whole army around me already shooting. Shared no resemblance to the situation I just experienced. That same checkpoint issue has happened a few times now in different chapters.
Just finding the combat annoying. I take no pleasure in it.

UC2 benefited from a lot more down time than UC3.

I have played UC1. The combat annoyed me there too but mostly because of the amount of bullets it took to take anyone down and the amount of waves in any given fight- the battles just got a bit dull. But, if I remember correctly, there were fewer combat sections and I definitely didn't find my deaths anywhere near as frustrating as I do in this. Not sure what's different.
