I hate the melee combat. Get close to an enemy and it seem to automatically lock into that mode. Bloody ****ing annoying. It turns the game into one of "stay away from the bad guys" because otherwise you're ****ed. When I see one coming towards me I run away like a scared girl for fear my guns will be replaced with fists. It's like some kind of Benny Hill comedy. On the occasion it does lapse into melee I have to run away until it unlocks and I can use guns again. Utterly retarded. He's trying to upercut me and I'm running in the opposite direction, against the camera which is focused on the enemy, screaming, "give me back my guns give me back my guns!!!"

I REFUSE TO USE THE MELEE (where possible)

Also, very annoyed there's no unlockables in this. There were plenty in UC1 and UC2, which gave me a reason to replay. Here there's sweet FA.

Tell you what is great - the sand footprints. The visual effects in this are pretty remarkable.

Finished this over the weekend and while playing it I found the combat very frustrating, especially the areas that rmoxon as highlighted with swarms and swarms of bad guys running at you from all angles, and the shocking amount of times you have to hit guys like the shotgun men.

However, for some reason I could not bring myself to trade it in. Also, looking at the Japanese packaging there is no number on the box. It's just entitled, "Uncharted-Atlantis of the dessert" which I think is a cooler title than the one used in the Western release. Wonder why there's no number after the title though; guess it could be to sell it as a single release so people who haven’t played the previous games aren't put off? I'm guessing the series never sold that well over here?

Well I just finished. Mostly, it's good with a whole layer of excellent and, for me, a bit of pox. The pox, the combat, is well-covered already. I don't honestly know if there was more or less of it in this than in the previous games but there definitely felt like much more compared with the amount of Tomb Raidery bits.

The excellent - well, the locations are stunning for the most part. They do some amazing desert with fantastic effects. I don't feel they quite got the value out of the final location. It was beautifully made and just taking a moment to look around reveals astounding detail into the distance. But what was going on around it didn't seem to milk that.

More excellent - characters, acting and voices were once again top-notch. To me, they are the standout leaders in that field and manage to tell a story without overwhelming the game, or losing a game entirely. A great mix. A few times early on, I didn't feel like I was really playing some of the more cut scene like moments (a bit Dragon's Lair) but I either got used to that or there was less of it.

Really not quite sure what to make of some of those end sections, and the ending itself. It's like it felt like it should have been leading to bigger or something. I couldn't help feel something was missing. The

fire heads crazy bit was interesting but, oddly, for me it only served to highlight how repetitive the enemies were in the game. And I thought the Sully resolution was rather cheap.

It's hard to give an overall impression because I'm not sure I felt there was an overall. It felt like a game of bits, sections (I felt the same about the second one too). The bits I enjoyed, I really loved. The bits I didn't, well, we've been there. Some fantastic moments though and definitely one with some very impressive polish.

None of the Japanese games have numbers.
              Kept you waiting, huh?

Yeah, which leads me to think that they probably are trying to sell them as single experiences rather than a series. I know the first game didn't sell very well here. Not sure about the second game although i don't see it that often in stores here. Third sold quite well i imagine with all of the promotion the game had although still dont really see it that much in the smaller game shops.

I think UC3 has sold the strongest to date, it's been one of the few single format releases to hold in the UK top 10 over Xmas. According to VGChartz lifetime Euro sales for UC1 stand at 1.49m with UC2 in the lead at 1.80m. Apparently UC3 is at 1.27 after 2 months already. It's not a popular series in Japan though with the average being about 150k per release.

There is a box set of part 1 and 2 in Japan, so they must not be selling them as single experiences. It was released shortly after part 2 came out. Included is "The Best" version of part 1, so it obviously did sell quite well when it first came out. I've never seen a "The Best" version of part 2 however.

I'm actually playing through U2 at the moment which I've borrowed from a friend and it's a 'Best' edition. I still don't see it that much in the smaller shops mind!

Just finished this and have to say besides the combat system, enjoyed it more than UC2 which for me personally had too many frustrating parts. Best graphical game on the PS3 and many moments made me go wow, with some of the effects etc. Especially loved some of the set pieces in UC3. Loved the boss fight at the end which was much better than the final bosses on UC1 and 2 and rounded off the story nicely.

Did not enjoy the flame headed people, although they did not over stay their welcome unlike the Snow beasts in UC2. All in all enjoyed UC3 a lot but wish it still had the cheats in from UC1 and UC2. Can't wait to see what they do with the rest of the series.

I enjoyed it most of all the Uncharted games. What mystifies me is the name "Drakes Deception". I was expecting a gigantic twist in the game to justify the name. Is there something I missed?

No, the sub title is just as rubbish as the combat.

I still think a better name would have been Uncharted 3: Drake Hangs Off Ledges, or Uncharted 3: Drake Runs around Like a Headless Chicken During Gunfights.

Those are the only two things he really ever does in this game.

Just finished this, all the blur kept doing my eyes in. Thought the story was rather bland too, was expecting alot more from it. A couple of standout sequences marred by some poor combat and repetitive long runaway sequences.
