There's no killskanking on this game though, PG! It makes a Pebble strop 32% less likely.
Why do I think I'm going to be reminded of that every time I go online?

Still if anyone want a practice battle I'm more than happy to school them one on one.

Anyone got a PS3 clan I can join?

Ended up buying this after I vacantly overwrote my peachiest Yakuza Dead Souls save file...

It's my first AC and I kind of love it so far, but I also expect I won't get the most out of it I could just because it's so in depth...and confusing.

There's been some amazing little moments so far though - Some of the missions and level layouts are really smartly designed, and I love the contrast between rooftop sniping and claustrophobic, up-close fights in tight spaces.

      Good stuff.

Ah, shame. Scanning the thread, it seems 360 is very much the version of choice.

Will try and get some games with you though Bubbs!

Owing to my Chrome Hounds commander heritage, I am pre-emptively claiming the spot of Drunken Masters premier operator.

I'll hopefully be on this tonight, ready to point at things and lead to VICTORY.

Prepare to be bletched and cussed to the rank of sub-private. You must earn your stripes, serdadu!

I was commanding teams before your HOUND was even a concept in your mummy's assembly hanger, boy!

                Or something.

Serious note, very fun memories of the NTSC-uk team launch on that. Still got the pics and everything. Melenko and his Hello Kitty logo that I stole for my pink radar beast.

A shame I didn't get to enjoy it so much towards the later half of its life but whatever, hello ACV.

This game is a very different beast in MP - in some respects. It feels so different that may try to play it differently. Due to the speed and maneouverability of the mechs there's a temptation to rush off headfirst and grab the glory, which is foolhardy. You'll get nailed for such actions on tougher levels! There's no stats on who killed what (beyond the replays, but those stats aren't retained), which makes it pointless to killskank someone. So, team play is the way to go.

But the actual gameplay is way different - it encourages swift, on-the-fly teamwork. When four of us took on 2 human players, we all survived comfortably and gained huge paypackets due to the fact that we stuck together and focused fire on one enemy at a time. They didn't know what hit them! Obviously, 4-on-2 is a huge mismatch, but if we'd all skanked off in different directions, some of us would have met our doom in 2-on-1 engagements.

I really miss the slow, methodical stomping around of CH, the weighty feel of the mechs, the true feel that you had built this mech from the base up, that it was your personal design and you felt an attachment to it. However, this isn't CH so it's pointless to expect that sensation to come back. At its best, this game in squad MP is fast and frantic.

I can't help but think if I've not got this by the Easter Weekend, there'll be nobody left to play this with...

Are the amount of players dwindling fast?

@Prinny - Oh aye. I'm expecting something completely different to come out of this.

Unfortunately, I never got to play much AC4 and AC:FA online, but I did get a brief few games online with AC:FA that worked blindingly well by spamming shoulder mounted homing missile arrays endlessly.

I've been watching a few player made tutorial videos on YouTube with great interest though, there's one which is about 40 minutes long that goes into full explanation on control setup, using your recon unit thingies, weapon performance growth, operator mode, weapon/damage types and weaknesses, etc.

I just love the idea/concept of the operator mode for sure. I believe there was even an FPS mod that did it (Natural Selection wasn't it? Is that still going?) and it looks like a superb idea, combining player recon units with your own radar and being able to spot single enemies for the team to focus. Can't wait to give it a try.

Bought the PS3 release today, and the servers weren't on! Anyone else have this? I bought the French release, which has English in it, but I can't connect on either my UK PSN or my French PSN. Disc serial: BLES-01440.

Anyway, might try again later. Who else is on PS3 for this and what's the deal? My net connection is rubbish, so I might not be on for too long before it cuts out.

I've got a USB Headset, should I bring it?

Quality Chump - the number of Drunken Masters is GROWING. You're missing out.

Operator mode is weird - I've only done it once. I just sent recon units to scan areas then marked enemy guns for my team to see. No doubt there's much more to it than that, though.

From what I understand according to the tutorial I watched, the operator can spot any enemy they can see on the map, for all players in your team to see. Not only this, but they also have full information on their weaknesses and health IE: Whether you should use KE or not etc.

The ACs on the ground and their recon units will also show up enemies to the operator, so you use these in conjunction with your own recon to spot the enemies almost anywhere on the map, show them up to your teammates on their HUDs, and inform on what best to attack them with.

Sketz - Servers were down for maintenance today on 360 so i assume the PS3 was the same. QC - Get on it, need more midlanders to bring some sanity to proceedings. I was operator during the 4 on 2 slaughter and its pretty good, would have helped if any of you clowns had shot some recon drones out tho but watching the battle cam and pulling the strings like a drunken metal puppetmaster is fun. My only complaint with the multiplayer is everything is so brief. Kost battles last seconds so you struggle to get into it before its over.
