Finally got to play this. I can see the appeal. Graphics look washed out though and mmo-like. Soon got used to them and quite liked smashing things up. So far I think Sacred 2 is a better game than this though. I may persevere but at the moment I'm left wondering why Blizzard are so revered. I've been getting lag too which as others have already commented, is ridiculous.

Had a bit of trouble before with the act two boss. Killed me several times until I asked for help in general chat.
The guy who came in killed the boss I couldn't beat in 1 hit...

      Just lol.

If that were literally the case then I'd be concerned by who I'd just invited to my game!

Seemed friendly enough and left after the boss while also dropping some nice loot for me.

Blizzard are revered becuase they make genre defining games like Starcraft, World Of Warcraft and Diablo 2. They have made several gaming landmarks, which is more than you can most developers.

                  Corrected the above.

In the end the majority of larger games developers / publishers that are still around have made 'landmark' games in the dozens, what have Blizzard done exactly?

Yes their games for the most part are excellent, but they don't seem to be able to move with the times. I don't see anything in Diablo III that couldn't have been done 15 years ago, apart from the online requirements. Sadly they are becoming like ID Software (and others) stuck in the past with no real new ideas.

you can do it during the log in screen, select options and then account (3rd option). There you should see the server region selection. You can choose americas, europe or asia. If you are in game just press the escape button to get in the game menu and then press options. If you want to switch servers, you have to log out first.

Unfortunately I can't currently slot Diablo III into the the same halls of quality as WoW and Starcraft II occupy (or WoW once occupied, before the Activision merger). Either of which I could play for eternity and not get bored. Starcraft II is essentially the Street Fighter of RTS, there are many people out there that don't play video games, they just play SC/SC2, especially in Korea where the series could be classed as the national sport.

Yep I'm playing on the us servers. No idea why since I'm in Asia.

Diablo 3 is my first experience of a blizzard game, aside from
A brief trial of WoW. I'll leave it for now and see if these issues go away.

It's ok, all the 'Westernised' Asian nations connect to the US, including Australia. When the RMAH goes live we can sell stuff for US$ instead of Chinese RMB.

Anyway, excellent, add me to your list: Headshaker#1717

                              Not really true

Starcraft 2 was a fantastic game and not made too long ago. It added things to the genre and improved on virtually everything that has come before it. Its a brilliant game.

Starcraft 2 is perfection. I'm going right back to that bastard once this is done on Inferno.

I'm just a bronze league clown, but I still love it so much. Even watching replays is massive fun.
