I've discovered what has happened to me.
It does checkpoint as you go along, but you only get the option for the checkpoint if you pick "GAME START" from the main menu.
If you quit your game and it returns to the map and you choose the level, it doesn't go to your checkpoint, instead starts from the begining.

Game installation for this is a must, the loading times are flipping atrocious, another shining example of Japanese developers being useless with Unreal engine. That and the game looking awful at times.

I got the 7 cheev on the farm....got it 3 times in a row actually using a mob+blue barrel!

Half way through level 4 now and to be honest I am bored so am gonna give it a break for a bit.

The combat feels a bit clunky but I'm enjoying it. How do you guys enable those special finishers that gives you more coins, can't work it out.

Stun 3 zombies or more till they have stars around their heads then use your chainsaw to decapitate them all together & it will bust into sparkle hunter screen, as you buy more combos you can kill them in different ways to get a bit of variety. You can also press your rt trigger when your star gauge is full to activate your special mode where you can get instant sparkle hunter without having to stun first, great to use in a group.

I am finding it all very slow and clunky compared to Bayonetta, I am still enjoying it overall however there are quite a few gameplay/audio bugs but nothing gamebreaking.

I find the A, A, X combo works best for getting the platinum coins. And the special helps too~

I need to get 100 Plat coins so I can unlock all four anime costumes. Might try beating this on Hard before I try Very Hard.

Hard is not much harder other than you only carry 3 lollys...but you get more special zombies so more coins!! beat Dads score on the first 2 levels without really trying!

Unlocked nearly all the combos now so the combat feels less clunky...trying to herd the zombies together to get more sparkle bonus' adds a little depth.

I spent 90 platinum coins on the pink catsuit

I had time yesterday to dot he tutorial stage and the High School, I like the styling and the humour and it's that that carries the game most. If I'm honest, the school felt like it was dragging on by the later end. The biggest shame is that Grasshopper haven't gone far enough with it, the same game with a slightly deeper and more fluid combat system would have been brilliant but it is, as has been said, a little PS2-ey. So far okay but not as good as I'd hoped it would be.

Yep, its just a little too basic still. I find it funny that they are using Unreal because it seems quite buggy considering that it should be relatively stable/easy to dev for. However it may mean I end up firing up Bayonetta again... which is much better on all levels.

Going to play it a bit longer though so I can rinse it.

I'm not sure, but a lot of people seem to struggle with that Unreal Engine.

I'm going to try and focus on dashing through this quick before the inevitable price crash hits, I'm liking the upgraded chainsaws that you're given and seeing what features they bring, it's keeping it fresh though I can't see myself going back once done.

Just because it is Unreal it doesn't mean that you get a bug free, incredible looking game for free. You still need a full team of coders, designers and artists to work with it and I'm going to assume that if Grasshopper had 3 projects on the go at one time (Shadows, Lollipop, Killer is Dead) those teams were small with not much budget.

Fun game, this. Plays like the No More Heroes games without bothering with the silly pretence that there's an explorable gameworld beyond the goon-filled corridors and boss fights. Just pure action, and combat is decent enough. Has the same wait-a-half-second-before-hitting-last-button-of-a-combo mechanic as NMH did, which is annoying until you realize it. Cumbersome clutter of menus, though, and load frequencies are a bit ridiculous: End-fight. Load. 10 second cutscene with in-game engine. Load. Back-to-fight. Etc. Great music and great script. Juliet and Nick are quite innocent and endearing really. As for the outrageous filth and sexploitation: its more 'Happy Days' sprinkled with a bit 'Carry On...' sauciness than anything else. If Sid James and Barbara Windsor don't have cameos by the end I'll be disappointed. It's not going to change my gaming world but it's better than I was expecting.

I still love this, just in the process of beating all the high scores/unlocking everything. Stadium is the worst so far, very difficult to get large scores on, all tough zombie types, and very few opportunities to sparkle hunt inbetween the chainsaw dash sections..!!

After that, have to complete it through at least another 3 times, for Hard, Very Hard and Ranking.

                              Love this game
