Finished James in pretty much one sitting.

Bit because I'm enjoying it but because I want it over with so it can go for xcom on the weekend!

I enjoyed the campaign. It gets quite daft in places and there are some retarded flaws, but having played 90% of it co-op, on the whole it was quite good. Having a co-op partner to laugh at the silly stuff,

such as Leon's inability to be in any vehicle of any sort without a calamity occuring

      , is definitely a bonus.

Just tucking back into Mercs now, hit my first 150 kills with 40 secs to spare on the Steel Map last night, dropped the chain at around 135 kills though Sherry's costume 2 while ludicrous actually has decent weapons that pretty much clean up, combined with the Item Drop Increase there's no issue killing enemies. Just need to get that time down and keep the combo up.

Do you mean Jake? Or is that a spoiler?

          Jake sorry. Stupid iPhone autocorrect

Anyway, sold this game on now. On the whole I thought it was very poor. There's a good game in there somewhere trying to get out, but you have to look hard and long past all the tripe to get to it.

          Disappointed

I'm having a blast with Mercs but its lame that there are only 3 levels if you didn't pre order. I unlocked everything and its starting to wear thin. The RE6 gameplay is rather solid once you tackle it but RE5 mercs was expansive.

I'm surprised those maps weren't available day 1, hopefully they're not to far off as the mode is much smaller without them. Completed my first 150 kill streak in duo last night breaking 1mil on the Urban map with 4 mins on the clock. And there are still 2000 players above me! Need to increase that time left on the clock somehow.

The key is making the hidden boss appear and kill it as your 150th enemy. That would probably propel your score to the top of the list.

Its just a matter of performing 15 counters on Urban Chaos, its rather easy (with power counter skill its a ohko everytime. The hard part is making him your final kill.

Cheers for the tip, I'd heard of the hidden bosses but didn't know how to trigger them. Will have to look up each stage. Normally manage a handful of counters each game, guess I'll have to go out of my way to use them. Do they have to kill or does it count if you just pull off the counter?

Has to be a Kill, with Power Counter this is no issue. I train it all the time lately. Its not that hard once you get the timing down and gets you +10 seconds. So you don't lose that much time if you are decent at it. I also managed to trigger a boss enemy at the mines, but I don't know how I did it.

At first they said it has to be 15 in a row but I made some regular kills inbetween too.

EDIT: Steel beast requirement is 25 Coup de Grace. Don't exactly know how to pull that off.

Eplanation says: Coup de grace can be done via Quick shot stun, then slide into enemy from the front, then hit R1 when they're on their knees. So its a double stun before you melee finish. I sometimes did that I think, Elbow works for that. Mining the depth is 70 kills within 10 minutes, so no wonder it popped up.

It seems that the top players use Limit Breaker and Time Bonus +. The one who destroys the crystals has TB+ obviously.

                      TRAIN WRECK!

Has to be the best way to describe the absolute nosedive in quality throughout the middle section of this game. Completed Leon 4, Chris 4 and Jake 3 so far and after the first two of each being great, it has been a shocker. Some terrible execution with the worst camera in recent times. The cover system is a mess and some of the design choices are bordering on hilarity.

When you put it like that, a 3/10 doesn't sound so wrong to me.

It gets even worse later on, completed all 5 of Leon and Chris now with just the last of Jake to go. Some utterly brilliant moments for Resident Evil fans but this actually is a bad game. I was utterly wrong with my earlier thoughts it seems.
That said, when it is being Resident Evil it is still very good in places. Overall i'm thinking it is a 5 or 6 maximum.

I'd agree with that verdict. The game seems to flit between being Resi and some other type of game altogether and as a result ends up feeling either really great or really flimsy which is a shame.

Let's hope something amazing happens with the inevitable Resident Evil 7 when that is released in 3 years' time...

The camera is a huge issue, one of the worst in gaming. Also it just tries to be spectacular all of the time and it is just annoying. There is no time to build any tension. Resident Evil 4, and even 5 have enough downtime from the spectacular to make each moment feel exciting. When you look back and Resi 4 you still appreciate the incredible moments it has. In RE6, there are so many things happening and so many Hollywood moments so they all blend together and become forgettable.

Then we regard the scoring system very differently. To me, a game that scores half - or just above - of the total amount of points is considered average - or just above - against other games out there. But it sounds like this game is well below an average game.
