    what are the gamepad features?

In CoD the second screen can either be idle, your map, options/loadout screen, a second players screen for split screen gaming or you can play the whole game on the controller. COD in bed is where its at lol

Basically you pretty much have access to formations, substitutions etc but all on the fly. What is a total surprise to me is just how useful things like this are. Not having to pause the game every five mins to change things, i think i very much underestimated this use before i wanted a Wii U. One feature i do like, and ok it may be minor but before kick-off you can use the Gamepad and pan round the whole stadium, brilliant i think

Can't believe I have had this hardware nearly 48 hours , and I still haven't actually played anything on it yet, properly anyway. I just haven't had a moment ... and it's starting to annoy me now ... Not to mention I am feeling ill and have a crap load of stuff to do this weekend ...

My Mii Plaza has finally updated itself to show normal games. Some of the artwork that some people are managing to do with the Gamepad is shockingly good, there is one post on the ZombiU one that it just staggering ... Its a lovely idea and its not gimmicky at all, whether I use it alot remains to be seen. But its just there in the background so it will get used without me even realizing it.

I love the little touches the WiiU gives, just not having to turn the PJ on to download stuff is so much better than the 360 or PS3. And it seems perfectly natural to do so. Also the TV button on the Gamepad is a genius idea, it may not seem much but being able to change the TV whilst playing something may not get used much, its still a nice thing to have.

Once you work out where things are it all falls into place really. Its nice to have a 'dashboard' where the emphasis is on the games again (looking at you M$). Since changing my router wireless channel to 1 as well, the network connection is a lot more stable, saying that my laptop was having trouble as well, so I don't think it was the WiiU.

Overall its a nice piece of kit , and has some stuff that really the other companies should be taking note of.

FSW .. Its just the way its put together really .. As I said little touches like actually being able to do stuff (like download, check friends online status) with the console without having to turn the TV on, it may not sound like much but it does make a difference.

The MiiVerse stuff is top notch, its like having a forum for each game (well it is really) and looking at what people write , and draw is brilliant, so the social aspect is there more than any other machine. Hence why I was saying its bought the focus back on the 'games' rather than adverts all over the place. Very nice.

Re: Nintendo Wii U - review

Miiverse sounds pretty cool. No need to turn tv on is good. I do same thing with vita and remote play. Very handy.

I have to say Miiverse is really good, what is nice like Originalbadboy says its like having a forum for each game but its so pleasant to read and post. A lot like on this forum really

LOL ... Just realized that after 48 hours that my WiiU was still set to Stereo sound ... That's a lot better ... The Mii's in the Plaza are no running around in 5.1 ... much better!

Some of the comments are pretty funny ... some are more obvious, but as I said before some of the drawings people are doing are pretty special ... Some again are pretty predictable ... Some of best ones are in ZombiU and Blops2

yeah the drawings are pretty detailed. I have to say that before i used miiverse i was very dubious about it but now after using miiverse its just such a brilliant feature.

It's just a shame the only surround is LCPM. That's no good to me using a headset with a Turtle Beach DSS decoder.

My setup is Wii U -> HDMI -> TV -> Optical -> DSS decoder -> Headset.

And I can only get stereo sound?! WTF?!

                            Comment

That's because most TVs don't pass the signal through, they convert the input and output it as stereo which is all a TV broadcast will generally output.

I have to share the miiverse love. Really a fantastic idea - like it has been said, its all the little touches that make it so special.

It also seems like a really nice, friendly place to hang out. I know this sounds silly, but 98% of my experiences online with my xbox have felt quite sinister. I just dont go online anymore on it. By contrast, while in Miiverse i actually found i didnt want to leave - such an awesomely positive, refreshing atmosphere - love it. Really really cool.

Overall i havent experienced anything that i'm annoyed or not happy about. The initial install took about 45minutes - so had a shower - did the washing, hoovered and BAM, all done. Perfect.

The console itself looks lovely and the controller is feels so right. Transferring imagary from TV to remote is effortless, so seamless - much more so than i had anticipated. And the audio - Wow, the sound quality is amazing! Perhaps im easily pleased, but i was not expecting the audio quality to be anything nearly as good as this - was a real wow moment for me.

Quickly also tried mario - I know Nintendo is a good few years behind in regards to HD, but f*ck me, it is so lovely seeing Mario in HD, nice and cystal clear. Never been a fan of the art style of the New Mario games, like most of us here, but was pleasantly impressed with the visual quality of Mario U. Really nice - and playing games on the pad does look stunning. I'm even more excited about the future Nintendo games now - roll on Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong and future Mario 3D games. Pikmin 3 is going to look stunning on this thing.

                                - the sad news is it is now put away until Christmas (i wanted to have it all installed and ready for Xmas morning).

First impressions are very positive - In fact so much so all the negativity around the net seems utterly confounding. Awesome piece of kit.

I hope Nintendo improve their marketing and get this bad boy understood :-)
