Can't believe I have had this hardware nearly 48 hours , and I still haven't actually played anything on it yet, properly anyway. I just haven't had a moment ... and it's starting to annoy me now ... Not to mention I am feeling ill and have a crap load of stuff to do this weekend ...
My Mii Plaza has finally updated itself to show normal games. Some of the artwork that some people are managing to do with the Gamepad is shockingly good, there is one post on the ZombiU one that it just staggering ... Its a lovely idea and its not gimmicky at all, whether I use it alot remains to be seen. But its just there in the background so it will get used without me even realizing it.
I love the little touches the WiiU gives, just not having to turn the PJ on to download stuff is so much better than the 360 or PS3. And it seems perfectly natural to do so. Also the TV button on the Gamepad is a genius idea, it may not seem much but being able to change the TV whilst playing something may not get used much, its still a nice thing to have.
Once you work out where things are it all falls into place really. Its nice to have a 'dashboard' where the emphasis is on the games again (looking at you M$). Since changing my router wireless channel to 1 as well, the network connection is a lot more stable, saying that my laptop was having trouble as well, so I don't think it was the WiiU.
Overall its a nice piece of kit , and has some stuff that really the other companies should be taking note of.

The MiiVerse stuff is top notch, its like having a forum for each game (well it is really) and looking at what people write , and draw is brilliant, so the social aspect is there more than any other machine. Hence why I was saying its bought the focus back on the 'games' rather than adverts all over the place. Very nice.

I have to share the miiverse love. Really a fantastic idea - like it has been said, its all the little touches that make it so special.
It also seems like a really nice, friendly place to hang out. I know this sounds silly, but 98% of my experiences online with my xbox have felt quite sinister. I just dont go online anymore on it. By contrast, while in Miiverse i actually found i didnt want to leave - such an awesomely positive, refreshing atmosphere - love it. Really really cool.
Overall i havent experienced anything that i'm annoyed or not happy about. The initial install took about 45minutes - so had a shower - did the washing, hoovered and BAM, all done. Perfect.
The console itself looks lovely and the controller is feels so right. Transferring imagary from TV to remote is effortless, so seamless - much more so than i had anticipated. And the audio - Wow, the sound quality is amazing! Perhaps im easily pleased, but i was not expecting the audio quality to be anything nearly as good as this - was a real wow moment for me.
Quickly also tried mario - I know Nintendo is a good few years behind in regards to HD, but f*ck me, it is so lovely seeing Mario in HD, nice and cystal clear. Never been a fan of the art style of the New Mario games, like most of us here, but was pleasantly impressed with the visual quality of Mario U. Really nice - and playing games on the pad does look stunning. I'm even more excited about the future Nintendo games now - roll on Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong and future Mario 3D games. Pikmin 3 is going to look stunning on this thing.
- the sad news is it is now put away until Christmas (i wanted to have it all installed and ready for Xmas morning).
First impressions are very positive - In fact so much so all the negativity around the net seems utterly confounding. Awesome piece of kit.
I hope Nintendo improve their marketing and get this bad boy understood :-)
