You know the audio cues that you rely upon to evade **** for the best grades? They were all f**ked or missing entirely, similar to DMC HD Collection.

I think that's why they didn't like it.

I never even knew the DMC games had audio cues to help you avoid things to be honest,. and I've played them all and never found them that difficult... So no wonder I didn't have any problems with DMC4.

DMC3 is one of my all time favorite games, but I kind of liked DMC4 as well. I think I have around 90 hrs on my X360 save file for it. DmC is actually pretty good. I have only played up to around level 12 on Devil Hunter difficulty. The combat is good. The bosses, the few I've encountered, are so-so. Visually cool, but not that much fun to fight.

I do miss the gothic overtones from previous games. Everything feels a little too dirty in this world. There's just too much of the black organic mess that follows Dante as he moves through Limbo.

DMC games are the most fun when you've unlocked everything there is to improve on Dante and this follows that pattern. It doesn't become fun until you've got more tools to use. Bayonetta is the same. To me, that's the main reason DMC1 doesn't really work for me. I can't go back and replay an earlier level but with new weapons and skills.

There are clear tells from most enemies, using both audio and visuals, and they've added a Bayonetta-like dodge-attack which is pretty cool. I would recommend DmC for anybody who liked the earlier games.

Did the two people who gave this a score of one in the poll do so as some kind of joke? Its a fantastic game, what's the point in having a poll if people aren't going to use it correctly?. Its as good as any of the other games in the series IMO. Think I'll give it a ten(even though its more like a nine) just to try and balance things out.

Ninja Theory one of the best developers out there..LOL!

They create stylistic worlds but utterly ****e gameplay mechanics and combat. This is good because Capcom made sure it was good. Which is ironic considering it's Capcom.

Capcom became heavily involved in the combat system to ensure the character's responsive moves and add new air combos never seen before in the franchise. The development team included over ninety members with nearly ten of them being from Capcom. While Capcom's Hideaki Itsuno oversaw the project, Jones and Motohide Eshiro acted as producers. They wanted to aid the Ninja Theory developers in making DmC play more like the previous Devil May Cry games
Just to add, would love to see more things like this. Japanese and western influences mixing. Frankly most combat games developed in the west are junk. Mix brilliant Japanese mechanics with western production values and art styles and it could be a winner.

Mate got me it for my birthday as there was nothing else I fancied. It's fantastic so fluid and easy to play and yep it's better than bayonetta imo(which bores the **** out of me, I prefer a story driven game)

I kinda like the new obnoxious prick Dante he's pretty amusing so far. How long before Ninja Theory become Capcom Cambridge like Blue castle became Capcom Vancouver after DR2?

Wasn't Dante always an amusingly obnoxious prick?

I meant it. I played for two hours and was mashing through getting decent grades. Nothing was touching me.

I'm guessing you weren't arsed about grades, and were just running through normal for for the story? That's completely missing the point, these games are based around the old arcade games going as far back as the likes of Ghouls and Ghosts and the like. It's about getting through the game on a 1cc, or a 1up, or in this case it's taken to the extreme and you should be aiming to get through without getting hit at all (that's why the SS/SSS/Pure Platinum grades are there).

Just whizzing through normal mode is effectively like grinding through Metal Slug 3 with 127 credits, then claiming "That was great! 9/10!!1", then moving on. The core of the game would have gone completely over your head.

Imagine if the next Gradius game ditched its intense gameplay and boss battles to make way for a more engaging story aimed at the typical western audience? There'd be a ****ing outrage, and rightly so.

That's just mindless. If you want a decent story you are searching for it in the wrong genre, mate. You don't turn to a style/combo attack game for a good story. Mind, that's why I don't play FIFA, without all the drama of players shagging around with each other's wives and being racist towards one another it's not quite the same.

This will be forgotten in a couple of weeks, I can't find any gameplay discussion anywhere as it is. Which, is a shame, because I actually want this to be good. It's healthy for competition within the genre.

^ Actually I'm not. I quite like the way Ninja Theory do a story. I'm not playing it to score attack, if I want to play a game where its all about score attack ill play a shooter. In answer to your question it plays like Devil May Cry albeit it seems a little easier and its more jarring in enemy waves to get the higher gradings, you get to S then they seem to disappear and you move on to the next area. I doubt you would enjoy it, its not taking itself seriously for that type of experience (at least not on Nephilim which is the highest difficulty available from the start).

I'm sure that you have already voted at one for this having played it for 2 hours or (admittedly) not knowing anything about the gameplay (as you can't find any discussion on it) already suggests that you pretty obviously don't "want this to be good". No wonder nothing can touch you on this aren't you still playing bayonetta now which is obviously harder than this. Playing through Silvergun after hardcore playing through Cave stuff for a long time is going to give you the same sort of effect, its not really the games fault that you are too capable for it. It needs to find the right balance for everyone otherwise it sells poorly (just like bayonetta) and then has to be saved by becoming an exclusive platform release, jut like bayonetta 2.

Although if you are looking for old devil may cry or bayonetta this certainly isn't it, it has flashes of both but if you are looking at it to score attack I think you will be unsatisfied as at the high end it seems to be a little jarring and the lock on is not quite right which will frustrate the piss out of high level score attack players imo. Taken on its own merits its a great game and enjoyable experience but it old devil may cry players will be best off sticking with bayonetta or dmc3 se.

Since you put it like that, I suppose a one was a little too harsh.

Do you even play their games ?> because one look at your gamer tag seems to point out otherwise .

Ninja Theory are a brilliant developer and the likes of Enslaved , Kung Fu Chaos (so much better than Power Stone its untrue) and DMC just show what a class outfit this team is , Maybe instead of talking games down, this board should play them 1st
That make a nice change to either not playing them or just going off demo's

Finished this yesterday, and enjoyed it in the end. A few rough bits here and there, but some decent boss fights and from the ending it looks to be set up to follow in the original series footsteps a bit closer. Lots of hidden stuff to go back and get, and the son of sparda mode is a big step up from the default selections (insane amount of enemies to deal with in some parts)

Well worth a look in my opinion.

Enslaved was absolute toilet. Kung Fu Chaos was solid if unspectacular. Of course I played them, I'm not rmoxon!

Well your gamer tag says otherwise and how much have you played them ?. People like you have enough to say in Zelda threads ; how you need to play the game, play it through ect. I don't mind people having a pop at games , but when that's going off demo's or people comments it's not really fair (not directly meant for you btw).

This game is really good and Ninja Theory deserver a lot of credit for that along with Capcom
