There are constant explosions... hence Michael Bay.

The previous games built up to big moments, this just keeps throwing them at you, I imagine I might feel a bit numb after playing this game for 8 hours, like what would happen if I watched all three transformers films back to back,

Oh, and must mention the deaths!! Rethink Visceral had too much fun coming up with ways to kill Isaac.

Is it me but its easier and harder at the same time. I'm up to chapter 9 on Hard but haven't really died yet but the ammo seems ultra tight on this and I'm really stingy with it, almost feels like its pushing me to spend on scrap metal.

Really? I've never ran out of ammo once. Also on hard, and I'm not being stingy with it at all. I actually think there's far too much health packs/ ammo most of the time, apart from

The part where you go inside the Necromorph. That bit was awful. You can't see the things, there's nowhere you can go where you're not getting attacked from behind and if you have hardly any health packs it's quite hard.

I died around 4-5x on that part, and was ready to quit. First part of the game I've thought to myself WTF were they thinking... but they do it all too often now. Wave after wave of enemies, just feels like they're throwing too much of you at once, and at times, it just isn't fun.

Aside from that however, I'm now 11 and a half hours in, and just started the 14th chapter, and I'm still loving it overall. Even the Planet side stuff is pretty good compared to how it was in the demo since quite a lot of it is in interiors similar to the spaceships of old anyway.

I haven't ran out of ammo on hard but I've started to die quite a lot. This game has what I call Uncharted 3 syndrome where the developers have just seem to have taken elements that people like from the previous games and thrown them together without actually understanding why they worked as well as they did. Like uncharted 3 it also suffers from some dodgy level design, enemies will occasionally run at you from all angles and trap Isaac so you end up dead. It's a step down from the challenging yet fair second game.

Im also not a fan of the new ammo system, all weapons use the same ammo, so I don't even feel the need to swap weapons anymore, not that I would want too most of the time anyway, most of the weapons I have tried so far have been terrible, why does the new line gun fire about one bullet every 20 seconds?

Also... Why does a Dead Space game have side missions? What happened to the tightly woven storyand claustrophobic atmosphere of previous games? Why am I setting off on a bloody fetch quest every 20 minutes?

I only ran out later on, because of them thinking throwing wave after wave of enemies at you from all angles is good game design. It's not, and it ruins the better parts of the game for me a little.

I like the new ammo system overall tbh, but like you said the new Line Gun is really poor, I made one as soon as I could, used it once then disassembled it. What a piece of trash.

Just finished this about 30 minutes ago. Final playtime 18 hours 38 minutes. Overall a good game, largely feels like dead space but some parts don't. At some point I felt like I was playing Mass Effect (and that's without the armour on :|)

Just started this and first impressions are distinctly meh. Feels like Visceral have a distinct lack of understanding as to why people took to the original so keenly, now we're getting more watered down with each entry. Production values are great and some locations are very nice without it resorting to the design cut and paste DS2 did however the Bench system is awful and the games response to nearly every action is an enemy wave. Still not a single attempt to scare the player yet either.

I didn't find the original any more scary than the second game and for me the second was more atmospheric becuase it had a better plot, and more stand out creepy parts (like the Nursery).

This game does not bother to build an atmospher though, you're pushed from place to place and feel like you're simply going through the motions rather than making the kind of grim and shocking discoveries that populated previous games.

Dead Space 2 also perfected the gameplay of the first game, it was a big step forward in that regard, this does not match a single aspect from Dead Space 2. Instead of everything just feels worse.

Enemy placement is moronic, every room has them dropping from ducts at every corner of the room all at once so the order of the day is to run around in circles for five minutes until you have them all lined up in front of you and then you can mow them down in a stright line while you hold to move backwards on the stick. The bench is atrocious, Dead Space 2's bench was more or less perfect, they have just completely cocked this up. Even the auto saving system is stupid and half the time I don't feel like I can turn the game off because Im not sure when it last saved, as it only seems to do it about once every half an hour and its easy to miss it happening if you're not constantly taking notice.

Despite all that its a decent and often fun game, but from what I've played so far it's simply not up to the standards of the series, nowhere near in fact.

Yeah I agree with most points. The save system is stupid, I don't like the bench at all (loved the original bench ), they throw enemies at you all the time from random places and pretty much all the weapons feel weak now.

Despite of all that though, I still really enjoyed it, it's still really atmospheric, the graphics are some of the best on the 360 and the snow planet part is actually very well done when I was quite worried about it, reminds me of the thing or something.

Well pretty much done, last 2 chapters to go. It's decent but not as good as the first 2. It feels to Uncharted randomly. I ended up with a ridiculous plasma cutter it pretty much ripped through anything in 1 shot, 2 max needed it for the crazy waves of enemies like

Only done about 40 percent of this but I feel its getting worse and I'm slowly losing interest in it. It's just not very good. Haven't been this disappointed in a game for a while.
