Once you know about enemy positioning for each particular scenario (two replays, tops) you are able to manually control the camera to suit the situation at hand. If you don't have the brain capacity to work that out, or expect it to hold your hand through the whole experience then that defines a terrible gamer to me.

    ---

The staff is great for wide hits and stuns groups of foes. Excellent for crowd control.

    Some moves:

    Floor spin (controlled CC): YXY(repeat)
    Windmills: YYXY(repeat)
    Whiplashes: YYYXY(repeat)

All of these and more are under the help panel when you press the back button. That's where the command list is at.

The Sai is a grapple hook, along with a charged taser stun (leave it for six seconds) built in, this acts almost like the Kulshedra whip from Bayo (only no where near as diverse). Good for taking out the helicopters (Hammerheads) and winged men (Sliders). Even on Revengeance mode you can perma-stun the GRADs using this, also alright for CC.

The twin blades are the heavy slashers, I've not found a use for them yet.

The camera is terrible in this, as it is with most games of this type. The only real issue I had was that it was too fast and made me feel ill, I dropped it to 4 on the sensitivity slider and I have been OK since health-wise, but the camera is still its weakest bit. Along with the script and story.

Been a little constrained in terms of appropriate time to play this, but I started last night and I bloody love it. I'm not even through with the first 'proper' mission and I already have some nitpicking I could do, but this is only on the back of very high expectations (blame Bayonetta) - in contrast to how much fun I had, and how many stupid grins it had me pulling, I can cope.

Now if you'll excuse me, I am off to change my name to "Mr Lightning Bolt" by deed poll.

See now you're just contradicting yourself.

Having to play a level 4 times in order to work out how to avoid the awkward camera placement proves the game does not require skill, but trial and error. If it was a skill based game a really good gamer(as you seem to think you are) could play well the first time through a level. But that's impossible here in certain instances because the camera is unpredictable and enemies often attack you when they aren't on screen. Having said all that. The game still isn't hard, its just crap.

Youre just making excuses for the crap camera and getting personal and insulting people on here won't change that fact.

Being a skill-based game does not necessarily mean a skilled player should perfect it on their first try.

Look at shooters; the top players may scrape a clear quite quickly after starting a new game, but you've still got to learn patterns, explore the scoring system, improve your routes and so on before the game truly opens up.

I'm not saying the camera is without fault (it's one of my initial complaints), but even if not optimal it is at least functional.

It's not playing five times to avoid awkward camera placement, it's playing five times in order to get the perfect positioning for the specific encounter and how to dispose of the threats efficiently.

You're used to games that require no thought at all. You can just run in and face roll to victory.

The game isn't hard, okay then, go for Revengeance Mode S rank clearance and prove it.

No thanks, one play through is enough.

And this a game where you just face roll to victory, it's boring. I'm use to deeper games than this.

Id be interested to know what a deeper game is, not to derail the thread to much.

Most games are deeper than this.

This has no real depth whatsoever, it's a shallow game with pretensions of depth that are so obviously false, plus it plays like garbage. The game is an embarrassment.

Its lucky it has the Metal Gear name, because that's all some people need to enjoy a game. Unfortunately for me I prefer good gameplay over a good name.

That doesn't answer the question. As for the name, that's just stupid if people are enjoying it for that reason. Maybe the world it's set in would be a better thing to say?

This game has more depth than any God of War game, which is a good thing.

I don't find it deeper than god of war, they are both shallow as far as combat goes. When looking at game design as a whole though, unlike this mess God of War actually plays well, it has good controls and has a camera that works, so it's certainly more fun. Plus God of War has other elements, that series of games has amazing set pieces, and variety of level design. This game has none of that, it's just a series of fights.

By your own admission you've played the game once, and rather than even acknowledge someone on the subject of depth (who has clearly demonstrated through videos and technical discussion an understanding of the term), you instead fling around vague accusations of people liking the game purely because of its name. Stay classy.
