I did mission 5 or 6 a few times (escape from denver) there is only about 4 encounters but you can easily pull 15k from one good run. There is a cheev for doing it in under 7 minutes too.

The easiest section is R-02 just after the x2 gorillas, when you drop down the hole and face off against some dwarf gekkos. Beat that section with no damage and an average run nets you 5000 BP for around 40 seconds. The double back on yourself to where you dropped and beat the 'humanoid' dwarf gekko, where both sections will give you 5000 BP each. Enter customise screen, then exit out again and repeat battle. Shouldn't last more than a minute.

You are talking complete nonsense, and probably the only person who thinks that. Are you just blocking with towards and X (which even a chimp can do) or are you parrying? (ie: performing the 'block' within five frames of an enemy attack?). If you simply block then you are going to eat hits, unless you evade cancel the animation into possibly a true parry (with quick tap of blade mode)

If you are consistently parrying everything with ease I suggest you stop playing this and start playing fighting games competitively, you will make a lot of money.

The 5-frame parry is required for full gauge finishers and thus, the S ranks, which I'm also calling BS on. Later on you must chain these finishers into Ripper Mode so that you can constantly chain the bigger enemies together for Zandatsus and keep your bar from expiring.

S-ranks are based on time, bp, and no damage.

Try the VR missions. They are like the Alfheims in Bayonetta in that they will outline the finer points of the system.

If DmC is deeper than this then I'm a black man.

[amended first post with videos on how to get various collectables]

Weird that there's no online score leaderboard for this.

It is weird, it's been a requirement of 360 games since day one. The box doesn't even mention them

I've sold this on now, and only lost 6 quid in the transaction. And that's the best thing I can say about it.

I was wondering why the game has been patched twice on the 360 since I got it on Thursday but doesn't have any online component at all.

Re: Same game engine as Vanquish, wasn't that 30fps

Agree with DataDave, NO videogame has a decent story, especially a MGS one. If it did, the script/screenplay would bury it anyway.

Cheers for the vid Dave, my parry timing must be out as I'm eating hits if the enemy uses a combo attack sometimes.

Once down you have to wait till the game scores you before proceeding to the next batch, barring 1-2 cutscenes interupting that. There's no scope for getting that engrossed in being a freeflowing ninja because your often restricted. It's just a very dated experience. There's moments which show this could have been a better game, hopefully if there's a sequel Platinum can make it from scratch.
That is true together with the camera's want to get in the worst position possible for battle, making you have to readjust this mid-fight so you can see your opponent clearly.

It doesn't happen all the time but is an iritation still. Wonder why this was the case here and not an issue in Platinum's previous games?

Yes, perhaps if a sequel gets greenlighted Platinum will be able to iron out these issues so MGR 2 is the flashiest brawler yet.

The best place to practice all of this is the VR rooms. You will get true parries worked out and you will be countering everything.

Remember to try Blade Mode cancelling anything you find counter-productive, such as the hard attacks. A few of those moves have undesirable recovery. You can quickly tap blade mode to get yourself out of **** and lead into anything else. This is most helpful when you are laying into a boss and there is an attack incoming but you are left in attack recovery from spamming your hard attacks during a stun phase.

True parries with a full FC gauge lead into a finisher move, triangle and circle, which give you an easy Zandatsu filling up your bar again. On the later difficulties it's essential that you keep this chain going. On some of the heavier guys a well timed forward or side-ways evade will trigger this condition instead, considering they have a ton of unblockable/unparryable moves instead.

Remember to watch out for the red flashing eyes, that's your cue for a perfect parry which will lead into the finisher. Unblockables are when they guys flash yellow before attacking. You will know a lot of these by now.

RB to lock-on and initiate perfectly fixed camera. Can we put this in the thread title?

I tend to find the lock on to be best avoided most of the time. It restricts view of the environment too much and things and enemies can get in the way.

The lock-on is great when you have just the one enemy to take on, when there are others all around you I tend to not use it like CTN says so I can get a broader view of the surroundings.

Dave - What is the best way of taking on multiple enemies? Is it best to Ninja-Run and weak slash them all first to stop them shooting?

                            Comment

You're best off ninja sliding them off their feet and taking the Zandatsu if you can. You can conservatively round the non ranged types up into a bunch this way then pick them off, or go for group stuns. Remember a perfect parry can stun more than one foe to line up a queue of finishers.

On later difficulties they will parry your weak slashes anyway.
