This is ultimately a shallow experience with no real depth or staying power. Once you get past the whizzbang explosions and set pieces, you're left with a basic shooter with a badly told story with generic characters and no replay value other than a shonky multiplayer.

    IMO of course.

After playing Bioshock Infinite, I cant help but feel it shows this right up. Was fun while it lasted but it isn't a true classic, and probably be forgotten about pretty quickly. Judging by the amount of preowned copies in Asda and Game on the weekend, a lot of people may think the same!

And judging by the scores on here and other places online a lot of people disagree with you.

...and judging by the scores and comments in this thread a lot of people agree with me too.

DMC says hello...you know, that critical rave that everyone has now forgotten about? The same game that did just as well commercially in it's first few weeks?

In about a month or two, my guess is you may be the only one thinking about it.

I doubt DMC says hello, it's a video game. It can't talk.

Incidently that was also a great game that Im still actually playing so I certainly haven't forgotten about it.

Both games will be near the top of my game of the year list come December. I don't doubt that.

That's precisely what I feared after seeing the ****verts for it on TV. Why so many games are modelling themselves on other, more successful games and consequently rather than being an original version of themselves are second rate versions of something else, I don't know. Well, no, I do know. The want for money. But what made Tomb Raider great was the exploring and the puzzling, that's the soul of Tomb Raider right there, not action and set-pieces. Seems everything has to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator these days. It's sad.

I should point out I haven't seen the whole game, I watched my friend playing it for maybe two hours and had a quick blast myself, but that's the impression my time with the game left on me.

I agree with both sides of this argument/debate. Does it really matter though. What it means to each person is clearly different. Sort of.
Yes it is was a great game. Yes it had no re-playability. Notice the past tense. Great but shelved. Bring on Tomb Raider 2 please.

                Just finished.

Brilliant!! Loved it...in the end. Luckily I continued after the first couple of hours.

95% completion. Like hell am I going to look for more random collectibles. Only thing I struggled with was finding enough salvage to fully upgrade all guns. I am not going to grind for "x" hours for that trophy.

Just finished 100% and all achievements (bar the shooting 10 dudes of ropes one), Also got my weapons up to 100% by just playing the game normally. I have to say i enjoyed this more than the last two drake games, the island has some fantastic locations and is a really fun complete experience. The rusting world war two relics mixed with ancient Asia makes for some fantastic memorable sections in this game, and checking out the location artwork in the extras menu just makes you realize how talented the devs that made this game are.

I know I'm gonna get stick for this but drake as amazing as the first two games are always felt like it had some real choke points that would just spam baddies at you in a very formulaic fashion and some really poor on rails turret bit that made my blood boil. I like how this felt more together and less like a "oh here's another one of them shooting gallery bits that are going to take me an age to get through".

It's early on in the year but game of 2013 for me so far and i cant see anything else on the horizon coming close to it.

I've nearly 100% this too, it is a bit of a grind. Some stuff is impossible without looking on Youtube

For me this is as surprising and enjoyable as Drake 1 except this has far better fighting/shooting mechanics. Having said that, part of the frustration of Naughty Dogs series is the amount of enemies and their AI. TR baddies are pretty dumb and there never is really a lot of them until 3/4's in. Once you've mastered dodge/counters then you're invincible bar your own mistakes and doing executions gives you decent XP so you can upgrade in no time at all.

2013 will have The Last of Us which I'm going to bet will grab hold of our emotions far more than TR has managed with its C-Movie supporting cast members and lousy script (seriously, did anyone give a **** when anyone died?). Naughty Dog just have that slightly edge when it comes to spit n polish, overall feel and I think this will be their last swansong for this gen.

Finished the game and got 100% on all areas, but the games main save says 99%. Any ideas?

Almost certain it will be in cliff side bunker (up from shipwreck beach) you can't fast travel there. I was missing one last collectable for 100% and it was from that area

Although the game is flawed it's going to be available for ?20 on the PSN Easter Egg Hunt Sale until 11:59AM on 31st March.

If you have the disc version you may be able to trade it in for more than you pay for this, haven't checked though.

They've thrown in some free DLC with it too:
                            • The Tomb of the Lost Adventurer single player DLC pack, in which you can explore the final resting place of an intrepid adventurer, and solve a puzzle involving a crashed plane to claim your reward.
                            • 3-pack bundle of the weapons Agent 47 uses in Hitman: Absolution?
                            • Shanty Town multiplayer map, which is a ramshackle area that features steep climbs, multiple ziplines for quick escapes, and deadly traps to set for your enemies.

Good adventure yarn this. But why does every water logged object on this storm lashed island burst into flames at the slightest spark? Even objects floating in water under rain. Does it rain pure paraffin or what? Also, Miss Pratchett aint gonna win any awards for scriptwriting: "I can do this!" /grunts with exertion.

Trying to play this but i have an issue with the PS3 version. The game boots ok but there is just no sound of any kind, i thought it may have been a disc issue but i have just exchanged it for another one but im still having the same problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I have tried other games just to make sure its not my PS3 and they are all fine. Any ideas?
