Thinking about it, I'd actually like to read an opinion of this game from someone who's never played an Uncharted game. I imagine they probably think its the greatest game ever. The only thing that is majorly wrong with this is that its a copy of another game. Is anyone on here playing it with no experience of the Uncharted games?

No, it becomes daytime later. I cant imagine you will be bored for too long, the game is basically a string of spectacular set pieces punctuated by a surprisingly decent story with a likeable protagonist, its the opposite of boring.
Some of the set pieces are lifted directly from the Uncharted games, or feel very similar anyway, but I imagine if you have never experienced anything like them before you are in for quite a ride, because there are no other games that do these types of moments this well.
Its very good stuff.Last edited by rmoxon; 05-03-2013, 16:10.

I'm bored with the location if anything, I want a bit of variety and colour

Well its not Super Mario galaxy, but the game is a bit more colourful in the daytime. The game doesn't really have variety of locations though (much like the first Uncharted game didn't) because you're stuck on an island. It does make up for it with variety of gameplay and level design though.
I think its better than the first and third Uncharted games, Its not quite as good as the second though.
Then again not much is.Last edited by rmoxon; 05-03-2013, 16:17.

Its really well paced actually... the build up of Lara's character... people have said she turns into a killing machine too quick but I disagree, the situation she's in its either kill or be killed. She's clearly a persistent and capable character, that is shown from the very start of the game. I didn't find the transition jarring at all really, she does what she has too to survive like any intelligent person would. You can't really wrestle with morality issues when people are throwing Molotov cocktails at your head.Last edited by rmoxon; 05-03-2013, 16:32.

fun and games, PC version of TR looks amazing, yet on nvidia cards runs badly - not in performance per-se - but constant crashing - and I mean constant. Literally every 2-3 minutes and its hard crash..
found this supposed fix - but it makes little sense to me - even though I have nvidia inspector...
Tessellation fix for nvidia users.
Download nvidia inspector
Open nvidia inspector
Delete Tomb raider 2013 profile
Find hitman absolution profile
Link tombraider.exe
Change if you want af, aa and so on

Only about 10% in and it's been good so far. Looks lovely, runs smooth and hasn't bored me at all which is a 2013 release first so far. It's very Uncharted but everyone knows that and as has been said it's no bad thing. I can see where the niggles lie with Lara's progression to mass killing goes but I think it's a matter of pacing, in the situation presented she has little choice but I think it would have benefitted from there being a quiet section before she kills again and then ramp it progressively to show her becoming used to popping countless headshots rather than diving straight in to numerous kills, would have had more impact. The only other story niggle for me so far is they've taken a slightly more darker and grounded tone to the series compared to UC but that makes things like her magical fast healing seem a bit more stretched. Very small things though in a game that gets much right, it's Tomb Raider in name only at this point but so far, so good.

As much as I loved the game I'm certainly hoping for a more lighthearted Lara in the sequel. I'm sure what she goes through here will have given her some sociopathic tendencies so in the sequel I'm expecting some classy wise cracks and one liners to go with her killing sprees.Last edited by rmoxon; 05-03-2013, 22:14.

Yep I think her character will continue to build past this game into what we've come to expect...
I've not minded the progression so far in terms of her becoming a killer. I dont think it was that heavy handed or too quick. The fact she really has no choice and then pauses afterwards to reflect is enough for me and I like how she continually has to push herself forwards against her own will because its the only way to survive.

incidentally there are loads of tombs to raid in this. If you include all the optional missions she raids more tombs here than in any other game.
