Trying to get it to this again. Its completely impenetrable to me... is it just one long pointless grind or is there a real RPG under it or am I completely missing the point? I want to like it but it just seems so meh

There's not actually much grinding if you just want to complete the quests, the grinding only comes into play through wanting to complete armour sets and get weapons (though like any RPG grinding can make the game easier too).

The series does take a while to get into because you have to work a lot out on your own, but once you are into it you are hooked.

I couldn't get into it at first, but I soldiered on. Now I'm at G Rank, I'm enjoying it even more than I previously did. You have to stick with it. It'll click, and then you'll wonder what took you so long.
        Kept you waiting, huh?

Is there a story or is it just quest after quest, I will persevere I guess for a bit see what happens

            There's a story.

There isn't really much of a story beyond whats clear from the start, the clue is in the title. You're a monster hunter, the idea is to become really good at hunting monsters, it's no more complex than that really.

Its not a story driven game, or particularly linear, and to be honest I'm all about story driven and linear games, yet I love it. I think that says how good a game it is really.

Cheers. Will give it a go providing I can drag myself away from AC

It gets better the more you play. Once G Rank is unlocked it gets great, like 9/10 or whatever. Once you work out your hunting style, and you can properly help a team take down a monster in ten minutes flat, you won't be able to put it down. There's the single player side too. Both go hand in hand, and require lengthy playtime to get any real enjoyment out of the game.

It's easily my GOTY, by a long way indeed.

Completely impenetrable to be I'm afraid. Been trying all day. It seems to be very good and what's there is all nice and that but its just not for me. Shame

Just remember it took them 14 months for 3 Ultimate to make its way over here with translation. So I hope you've got time to kill until the end of 2014, possibly 2015.
Also add to the fact that not all the JPN weapons from licensed quests won't make it unscathed. Even though Capcom and the guys in charge of the Capcom-unity repeatedly stated that all DLC content would make it over (re-skins) were blantantly lying.

It kind of diluted my enjoyment of 3 Ultimate somewhat.

I'm definitely going for MH4 Japanese release this time as it looks like a decent change to the formula.

I need to do my HR6 Urgent. I had a room open all day yesterday, but I only got three players together who seemed to like standing around doing nothing. Trying to solo two Brachy's is difficult LOL. I did find a Legendary Talisman, which has given me FastCharge +5 though, so I'm halfway towards Focus without eving trying, but I need to fight Jhen Mohran to forge the required jewels, and I can't even fight him yet. I'll be on from about 4pm, if anybody is up for it.

I'll be on when I get home from work, also I now have a 4 day weekend so Monday and Tuesday are all about MH

Make your room Brachy/Looking to raise HR in G Rank and hopefully someone will join us.

I need G rank Brachy parts to finish levelling my Demolition Bow.

Sounds good to me. I need to farm some Tru Armor Spheres too. Five Nibelsnarf hunts will do it.

Easiest way to get those is armour stone+flutterfly or meldspar ore.
The old woman by the armoury at the marina sells armour stones for 1500z each at times. Keep checking back with her every other quest or so.
I bought 200 off her so have enough to last a LOOOOOOONG time.

In other news, I only need a Zin Skymerald to finish my Stygian set

I've got loads of Flutterfly's too. I'll hit her up then.

I need to upgrade my bows too. I've only got a Bolt Sender, Brazencord and a Heartshot II. That'll be my next port of call.
