Started playing this yesterday. 28% of the way through apparently.

Think I've shot one bullet so far, stealthing it up is kinda fun. However, I am going for clearing rooms right now so that I can loot them too. Be it via strangling people or just punching the crap out of them. Some of the head smashing is brutal too - pretty cool.

Clickers are kinda non threatening if you're careful - reminds me of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park.

This game is incredibly pretty. I'm playing this sat about 2 feet away from a 24" monitor and it's almost as if I'm playing directly from my PC. At times I have to double take because the characters have such a striking resemblance to real life. Movement all seems very natural, although collision seems to be a little iffy. Sounds is awesome too, been playing it with considerable volume and even hearing stuff like Joel scratching his head is great. It makes the clicker sounds quite tense too. Being unable to see you even with the torch on kinda nullifies what may have been a feeling of fear otherwise though. The lack of UI makes you feel more engrossed too compared to other games that I play I feel. Nice touch.

Many people have named the intro of this game as one of the greatest in video gaming. Not too sure I agree with that, it's certainly very good though. I'm a bit of a sop so I felt genuine emotion with the events that befell his daughter.

So yes, enjoying it so far.

Played it through again on new game plus for extra trophies and knocked 6 hours of my last time and finished it just under 13 hours

Still decent fare but won't play it through again

this time around when I walked into the hospital theatre I just killed the one doctor but I guess you always have to and let the others survive

Only got 118 of the 142 collectables though

I finished the regular game last night, and while I loved it I didn't feel motivated to dive back in on ng+. Great game though. Enjoyed battling the humans more than the clickers. Picking them off Manhunt-style was superb fun. And while the clickers were less fun to fight, they were easier to manipulate and the relief after clearing a bunch of them was awesome.

Amazing game to look at too ... The production values are something else. And while i'm not generally a fan of single-player co-op set ups, the relationship between Joel and Ellie works perfectly, so bleak is everything around them.

Just finished this. Brilliant game and very well paced. I like the little breaks in between combat as you walk round while the characters tell the story, although it was a bit too gun heavey towards the end for me.

Stunning looking game but exclusives normally are. I think the graphics would have had the credit it deserved if the game came out 2 or so years ago. It looks next gen.

I loved the relationship between the two characters, if they can make another game I'd like more of the same.

Just started this. Adored the intro. Then it went all Nathan Drake versus pirates. Then it got a bit interesting again. Mostly I like the going for a walk bits.

So with this it seems I have little or no interest in the combat. In one early early section, I felt like I was reliving Hotline Miami all over again. The stealth is a lie. Then in a part not far from that, a room full of tickers, it was so full of stuff , tickers and debris that I spent a ridiculous amount of time going around in circles before eventually finding a ladder out of view that was pretty much where I was sure the level exit was all along.

And therein lies the problem for me - it fancies itself as a continuous journey, a smooth narrative, and yet every enemy section so far has felt like a level. An old fashioned room of enemies. It's like breaking for a game of Pac-man. I remember complaints about the disconnect in Silent Hill Shattered Memories between the exploration sections and chase sections. This isn't all that different to me and, like that, I could do with just having the exploration and would be happy to drop the rest.

I think some games have too much game for their own good.

Well, it is like, a game. And if you don't want gameplay, you might you know, just watch a movie or read a book. Those will offer better stories anyway. The problem with Last of Us is that the gameplay is very mediocre and repetitive, there should be more "game" in there.

It's funny because in many points, it's true.

Also, over 40% of people rating this a "10" just boggles my mind.

I found Uncharted mediocre in terms of gameplay but this was gripping.

I don't understand why most negative videos on youtube try and compare it with Uncharted. Just cause ND made it, its nothing like Uncharted and has it own pace. But i guess the ADHD kids theses days need run around usually saying, your a fag, and ive had your mom, and if they aint pwned 10 bijillion zombies or noobs in 5 minutes then they get easily bored. At first id did find it slow but soon the characters and the story and world draw you in and you dont care if you aint killed a few infected in a wbile. And i think this is one game where you need to see the end just to understand Joel and Ellie ordeal in this crazy world.

This is true. A valid point. I guess my problems are that a) I don't massively enjoy the more contrived and obvious gameplay sections and, probably more importantly, b) I find there to be a huge disconnect between the narrative and those sections. As I did with Uncharted and its combat which, yes, is relevant because it comes from the same dev and, to me, repeats an issue which is that in both the combat feel a bit like padding to me. Now I won't say the gameplay is bad because the truth is that I find fewer and fewer combat games engage me these days and even fewer stealth games so maybe that's just personal taste. The last game I really enjoyed the combat in was probably from the Gears of War series.

But the disconnect, those parts where it just switches from an immersive narrative experience to a game level, I just think that's a problem. Maybe not many games can be strong in narrative and successfully implement immersive gameplay.

That all seems to have become less of an issue where I am now though (having left

the city and more out in the wilds

. I'm enjoying these parts much more and the fewer enemies integrated into the environment feel much more natural and don't cause that narrative disconnect that the indoor sections did earlier. It has become a bit more Half-Life 2 and is the better for it.

Edit: Yeah, you know it's getting better (or I'm getting more into it) so I should just stop moaning and play it more and see how it goes.,.

                          Less typing, more playing.

Except with Typing of the Dead.

Didn't you post that exact same thing like 6 months ago? I'm guessing you really didn't like this
