Looks like I'll have to start up the game on my Japan account and see what happens. I'll get the 25 cars anyway!

Gran Turismo 6 review

I am something of a collector when it comes to Gran Turismo games. I have every PS1 and PS2 Gran Turismo game (including Tourist Trophy) for every region - which amounts to a fair few. GT4 was the worst in that it came in 6 different varieties. The last one released was the Korean version and ended up with a few extra cars over the other versions.
I checked out Amazon UK yesterday and one seller was selling what appeared to be the Asian version. After some thought (2 mile walk to the next town shopping and a walk back) I ordered it. The price was about the same as I paid for my normal UK version (better than importing and getting stung for duty). Being on Prime, it arrived this morning.
After the update to V1.04 (and setting up an HK account which was easy as there was no requirement for post codes or equivalent) the game fired up in English using Miles. I set the account up for a birthday tomorrow for 1971 and am hoping for a Ferrari Daytona. I set up a new Gmail email address for it in advance. I set about unlocking the Seasonals. Golded the B License and gave the Z4 Trial a go. My best so far is about .8 of a second outside Gold. I'll give it another go when I get a better Bonus. I'll have to do the Corvette and VGT RS ones before I get to 200% so that I don't miss them.
I decided my favourite go to car for the early races is a Focus ST '13 with the 6 speed gearbox upgrade (to get around the mess PD made of the stock gearbox). Plus a few upgrades as appropriate.

Not that worried about GT7 Prologue at the moment as I don't have a PS4... yet (next year is most likely).
I started the game with the R3 version (complete with all the updates again as it was on my "old" PS3) on my Japanese account and was very surprised that it happily read my R2 save from yesterday. Needless to say it was none too happy with my DLC cars. I deleted the save and started again afresh with the R3 version. No free cars, so I presume that is probably a Japanese game and Japanese account thing. I can also do the Z4 Trial on the Japanese account.

1:33.398 is currently fastest time on the challenge rankings leaderboard

Gold time with the Z4 GT3 is 1:39 on Racing Softs (I think) and SRF Off.
Just did my HK account to get the Birthday Car. I had these cars come up...
Honda 1300 Coupe '70
Alpine 1600 '72 (the Detailed one)
Dino 246GT '71
Ferrari 365 GTB4 '71 (Daytona)
Honda Z Act '70
Nissan Fairlady 240ZG '71
To be on the safe side I deleted the main save after quitting the game so that on the restart it had to load from the Backup.
The next time the Daytona came up I stopped. At 550,000 credits I figured it was a pretty good Birthday Gift! Make sure you give the game time to do its save after you receive the car and return to the Main Menu screen.
I suspect you may just be able to reload if you quit on the Gift screen as the Save there is presumably just for the Login Bonus... I wasn't taking any chances though!Last edited by Bassman; 21-02-2014, 03:43.

Some of the MR cars can be a little on the twitchy side, even the low powered ones. Using the Stability Management (ASM) usually cures the problem.
Got to 200% Bonus on the Asian version so Golded the Corvette and VGT RS Seasonals and upgraded my Silver on the Z4 Challenge to a Gold (with a 1:38.921). I now have about 1.25 Million credits with a few more races done. Even though the write up mentions Japan for the Z4 Challenge, it is lying!
My next birthday came up (1954). Went with the expensive option again... the VW Type 188 Schwimmwagen at 625,000 credits.

Three new Seasonals. Diablo GT2 at Grand Valley East, Elise Race Car at Brands Hatch and Plymouth Ghia at Willow Springs (if memory serves me correctly).
I decided to do the new Seasonals on my HK account. I have done enough races to enable me to Gold the first four licenses (to get the G37 for the old Seasonal). I eventually managed to Gold all the new Seasonals.
I did the IB Missions to get the Elise Race Car and the second batch of Goodwood events to get the Plymouth. I just reran Like the Wind at Route X to get some money and bought the Diablo as I didn't fancy completing the IB races at the moment, especially the Kart 125 ones.
I went the route of using Ballast after Weight Reduction to improve the weight distribution and allow more power to be used with the Diablo and the Elise. Having initially tried the Elise without Ballast it did speed up the car a bit.
I now have about 3.5 million on that HK account. Used the fully tuned Corvette C7 from the Seasonal fully tuned for Route X. I did see 305mph at one point.
One nice thing about the Asian version is that Torque is in ft-lbs... just as well as I have no idea about the Kgmf that the UK version of the game is blessed with.

Ta, will add you as a friend tomorrow and try the Seasonals.
Real backlash from some people against GT6 over on GTPlanet, talk of boycotting online for a week etc etc. The lack of communication from Polyphony means they don't help themselves.
EDIT: you sure that PSN name is right, the app says it doesn't exist.Last edited by VR46; 27-02-2014, 22:02.
