*including expansion packs a la Warcraft.
From what I have seen on the net (and its a little unclear) $500 million may get them 4 'destiny' game over however long it goes on for. Even if that is the case that's still well over $100 million per title .. assuming that's right. There are plenty of new articles where they state this is not known one way or the other...

Regardless its a **** load of money for something that people may be bored of within a couple of years. Destiny is not doing anything new, and anyone who thinks it is, is in for a big shock.

And if it does bomb (which I am sure it wont on the first game anyway) Activision will drop Bungie pretty damn quick.

Whatever the case $500 million is a crap load of money for a new untested IP.

Is it really doing nothing new? It feels like it is to me but I haven't played every fps out there.

Make no mistake about the shooter aspect of the game though. This is Halo. Like actually Halo. Cloaked enemies, same dodging stuff, needler. I'm not complaining, it's a great foundation.

Opening music is pretty much the opening music to star trek too lol.

It kinda reminds me of playing PSO all those years ago.

Halo meets Mass Effect is what it reminds me of most. No bad thing there

            I'd agree with that

Bungie has extended Destiny's alpha testing period on PlayStation 4 to introduce some "dangerous" new experiments.

Ill try it in a bit and see whats going on

They've mapped the Vita controls already too, which is nice. No use of the rear pad :-)
Rather ingeniously sprint has been mapped to down on the dpad so you can tap it without taking your thumb off the left stick!

"dangerous experiments play beyond the beta end at your own risk",

wonder what that means, exploding ps4s????

Just did the first Firestrike thing (lv6 1-3 players, Vs spider mech and orb thingy) and didn't notice anything different from last time. I did notice in the hub town there was a big ball floating about which everyone was trying to headbutt but that could of been there before as I haven't played much.

Cant find sod all. Maybe they are waiting for the US to wake up first.

So, tried this again today finally getting a solid enough connection to make a go of the strike mission. Died four times on the section where you wait for the three stage hack, twice on the Walker mid-boss and no times on the main boss. Turns out... the alien hordes have an allergy for stairs! Worked out well though, my team mates were too gun-ho so died plenty so my more cautious approach kept us alive whilst ensuring I could still get plenty damage in. Ammo is the biggest pain but I have to admit the game came together at last on these bits. I don't think I'll ever prefer it to Borderlands but it's convinced me enough that it's worth a September with. The PvP play is frankly terrible, the exploring and looting is fairly average but the coop missions look to be the best the game offers and seem worth a few weeks attention.

Just completed the strike Team mission on legend.. no laughing matter, elite versions of enemies, lots of dodging, large shields, killer sniper shots, so many near calls with 1 person hanging on for the respawn timers lol, the open gates bit was solid this time, very little room to hide to recharge your shields.

Tried to play this last night and got booted constantly, i know its an alpha but it was very off putting. There's been a few complaints about the voice of the guide thing, its Peter Dinklage Tyrion form game of thrones, seems others are not impressed too. maybe his brief was to play it quite lifeless and emotionless you know like an Ai.

I was alright last night but I've had a lot of connection issues over the weekend which would be the death of the game if still an issue on release. I'm okay with the voice on the companion box but the PvP mode announcer voice is literally the worst ever

Dinklage does sound like he's phoning it in on the Alpha but if you watch the e3 trailer they have clearly processed his voice, in the alpha it is unprocessed. Don't know why so many are complaining.

Sounds far better in the trailer with a robot echo on it, so wouldn't surprise me if he was directed to just speak out the lines with no emotion, as you say since he's a ghost AI cube as well.
We will see how it sounds in the beta soon enough.
