Earliest I can put together a vid will be the weekend, sorry people, and even then it will only be around early 1300, or early 1200 with 100% destruction.

What are your buzz levels after the first few sets of enemies?

I am getting 80 after the first set, 160 after the second, and 380 before the boss.

Once you are on the boss I have used the technique of hurting him as quickly as possible to get to green guage as quick as possible. He will often miss an attack while "dying" and its important he doesnt miss the first double line attack. One thing worth remembering is to get right into that blue attack he does as quickly as possible (dont follow out the red ball ring thing like you should with the others).

I'm getting pretty much the same. If I'm super lucky, I'm on 400 buzz (normally 380) before the boss appears, and finish on 1150 - 1350 buzz (normally around 1250).

For the boss attack my tactics are slightly different. You want to make sure you time your level up so that you can buzz straight into the boss as it spits out those large red orbs. To do this you also need to hold off on your fire at the right moments, or else you'll cancel his red orb attacks.

Getting this just right leads to a 1300 - 1400 buzz, but I don't know how to get more than that.

I'm at about 140-150 after the second set of enemies, and about 280-290 when I reach the boss

Thats a fantastic tip about the red ball shot, I hadnt thought of that, when I get a chance to play again I will give that a go!

I am struggling to get above 300 odd buzz before the boss with 100% destruction though.

took me ages to figure out what to do with the red orbs, still only 50/50 if I get it right too.

not worrying myself about destruction too much for now, on present form it should be easy enough to get level 350 by the end of Area 5. I just need to work on not dying so often. I usually die at the end of Area 1 or 2, even though I've played them loads.

You get tons of points for desctruction though, so it is pretty important. I am not sure if you still get an extra bomb for 100% destrcution, but if you do it is even more important!

you seem to get an extra bomb just for clearing an area.

                  It's harsh!

The only way to get an extra bomb now is on Evolution - 1 bomb per evolution, you dont get anything for destruction apart from the score.

Mark and me had a good Gluon sesh yesterday, when we got munch we put Initial D on "quickly" while we was eating....Initial D is never "quickly" so didnt train up on Gluon as much as we should have.

heh, I've been evolving and not noticed that was the trigger for an extra bomb.

Saurian - do you know any better ways of ringing more buzz from weakboson?

                      Not too much man -

I been doing that bit the same; just get right in there when the red boss comes, get the 3 explosions immediately and make sure you catch the red orbs from origin each time.

Dont know if this is common knowledge here, sorry as I havent been religiously checking this thread, but here is some info on transformations:

                        1st -- level 28
                        2nd -- level 118
                        3rd -- level 288
                        last - level 348

You can tell that you've transformed when the ship rises up towards the the screen in a flash of lightning at the area end. You'll also get an extra bomb when it happens and change in appearance (albeit slight at first).

You must do the transformation one at time. It's not enough to just be over 348 before finishing Area 5. So, let's say you finish Area 4 with 280 levels (no third transform), but then you finish area 5 with 350 (should be enough for the fourth transform). That transformation will count as the third, since you cannot do more than one per area

I've captured an Area 0 run through here (9.5MB XviD):

                          finishing on 1331 buzz.

For irritating technical reasons, I had to capture it at 50Hz instead of 60Hz.

so - where is the extra 200 buzz on this level?

                          Comment

I cant capture at 60hz either >_< (dont understand why tho)

                            Wicked video man!

Right at the start if you were a little lower on the very first attack you would have got a bit more. The bit I felt you lost buzz tho is when the red boss came in, if you have the Neutrino set up to max as he comes in (or use a short bomb if it isnt) you can get the 3 explosions immediately using your shield to hit him and you'll get a bit more out of it. The 2nd time he exploded you missed out on a set of the red heat shots but other than that I dont see how you can rinse the rest any more than you are.

With mine its because my capture card doesn't support Pal60, and I've pal modded my jpn Dreamcast (so 50Hz works). I had to switch to my pal machine to take the capture.

The worst part was having to hook up composite video so that I could play (with s video going to the capture card). It made me feel... dirty. Especially after tated vga

Yeah, managed that last night and finished the first two waves on 180 buzz rather than 160.

Ah cool, first time I tried it I must have done that, buzzing straight in with the shield getting nearly 1400 Buzz, but I couldn't remember what I did after

Having the Neutrino bar just right on boss attacks is what I'm trying to get the hang of at the moment.

Thats a great video, I was being a right idiot and not killing the final boss all 3 times either.

Also, how are you spinning while staying stationary at the start of the vid (on the first two sets of enemies)?

Are you using a stick or the dc dpad?
