Thanks for the impressions (bit disappointed to read it's turned out so badly though)

Saur, do you know if the XBox version is region-free?

Nope it's not - tested that too.

It's rubbish - I absolutely HATE to say it but it's true

Hopefully the PS2 version will turn out ok...

Sorry for bringing this thread back just for the sake of bragging - actually no I aint, I reserve full bragging rights cos I've worked damn hard!

Finally dealt with it - it's taken AGES but I've stuck with it, as of last night I can 1 life Psyvariar 2!!!! (twice so far) No pissy chickening out of bosses or skipping Gluon either! I had to cut Gluon a little short cos I get panicky and bomb happy but I still got over 50k buzz out of it.

Cant upload the replay and score to Xbox Live tho - it's fine if you die but if you dont it saves OK but it just wont let you select the replay

Cant wait for the new version! I need more!

              Very nice.

I'm holding out for the PS2 version myself - & hoping there's a ****ing roll button included too; I'm too old for l337 shooter skills now, so need all the help I can get.

Seems like the PS2 version is out - anyone in Japan have it yet? Roll button?

                  Comment

no roll button on JPN Xbox version so don't hold your breath

You're not going to get a roll button again as the control system in Psyvariar 2 has been changed. If you need to roll on an exact spot you hold the direction at the side of the screen and your ship will stay there spinning on the spot until you put the stick back to neutral. When you need to buzz an attack from the point of origin you get a bonus on the Neutrino gauge boosting it faster in relation to proximity regardless of it's colour - so all you need to do is initiate a roll by a quick left-right tap as the attack happens. This ties in perfectly with the enemy and shot routines for the stages, it really pays to learn where to be and stick to a spot for a shield then move through the shots to the next spot.

I managed to get to Gluon on one credit using that stupid Xbox S-pad in Buzz type before I got my Magicbox, the control system is very simple once you learn it, the mission mode in the PS2 version is supposed to take you through and teach you loads of techs as you go.

The stage select is a brilliant edition when i was playing the DC version i would of loved to of had that so i could practise better. Does the xbox version contain it? Btw whats the ranking system like on psyvariar 2 on live, is it a challenge are there alot of people? And how come people have trouble doing the spinning in a spot? I could never understand that it wasn't a problem? Maybe i was just a fast learner or something.

The Xbox Live side of it is really dead man - and there's something off-key going on with regards to uploading your replays. Sometimes it just wont let you upload a certain file even though you followed the rules (played while signed on and in Replay mode) and it still wont let you upload it. I did a 1 life Replay and wanted to put it up but couldnt >_<

You can only upload and download whole game replays which is kind of stupid as per stage score attack is where this game is most addictive, there arent any truly savage players on the board either to learn off.

There's no stage select and Replay mode is only for entire game replays

Maybe that one Japanese guy that owns an Xbox (got it free at a promo event) aint into Psyvariar or maybe he's on holiday
There were good players on it when I was playing in the arcade when I was in Tokyo - learnt some ill stuff on both this and Shikigami no Shiro!
