Not meaning to be patronising, but you know you can go back into the earlier dungeons and reuse those flowers don't you?

I spent a day just going back into the first dungeon again and again reusing the black flowers, and when I went in for about the fourth time they weren't there.
Will they come back? Also, which dungeon is the best for growing black or white pikmin? I'm talking about the least risk and the most flowers.

It's only the first few Violet & Ivory Candypops that have limited uses (to stop players getting overpowered at the start of the game)
Best place to get them is 'Subterranean Complex', the Cave behind the poison wall in Area 1, Valley of Repose. You can get 20 whites (5 on level 3, 15 on level 4 IIRC) and 15 purples (level 8 ) on each visit.
You'll NEED lots of purples at one point so it's worth remembering this. Or you could (shameless plug) just look at my walkthrough on gamefaqs...

Ive been playing this quite a bit recently. Absolutely loving it still?
Im not ashamed to say it, but im still fairly keen on the old N64/NGC Magazine team and their reviews. As console specific reviews go? they are probably the least biased imo. Anyhoo? Im one of those strange people who prefers to read reviews after ive actually bought and played a game? and found their review in their latest issue quite enjoyable to read.
Personally, it?s probably the best review ive read for the game. From a completely selfish perspective, unlike the ntsc-uk review, I relate entirely to what is being said.
Anyhoo?
I was wondering whether you guys wanted to share your stats - might as well eh? Okay, here goes:
Main game time: 30Hours 52Mins
Money collected: 15035
Items collected: 155
Day: 48
Red Pikmin: 463
Yellow: 139
Blue: 598
White: 23
Purple: 5 (!!!)
Total: 1228
Pikmin Killed by enemies: 878
Total killed in action: 1240 (poor little guys)
heh, there we go. A few statistics there. Any of you wonderful people like to share yours? Plus others if ya want?
Off now to re-gain my Purple Pikmin. Damn that silent hill type transparent monster dude! I took him down, but many purple?s paid for it. lol
edit: Just read through the gamefaqs 8 day challange and its incredible Mr. A massive well done for that.Last edited by Adam Stone; 25-06-2004, 21:07.

Ah, sorry Mr. But previously you mentioned you've already seen the credits... which made me assume you must have seen that foe by now.
Also i've mentioned him before... anyhoo, i apologize. Didnt mean to spoil anything...
Ive now increased my 5 purples to a more respectable 63. Only have the dungeons on the final stage to complete now (hurrah).

Currently I just finished the first dungeon on the second areaJust got the tiny white pikmin. Taking my time over this game for some reason, I just seem to play it ever now and again but I enjoy it when I play. Usually I just play the same game until its complete. I will post some stats later on.

Cheers Adam, glad some people are finding it useful
I was inspired to write it after experiencing the misery of painstakingly doing a speed no-death run, and trying to complete area 1 on day 6 instead of completing area 3. You get too many pokos this way, and get pulled out to the 10,000 credits halfway through the day ruining everything! No-one else should have to taste that pain...
You may have spotted the screenshots mentioned in the faq still say 9 days; I haven't had a chance to update this yet but the 8 day run is well and truly completed!
Well, at least I can post some smug stats now:
Main game time: 18Hours 30Mins
Money collected: 28,256
Items collected: 201
Days: 8
Red Pikmin: 109
Yellow: 102
Blue: 110
White: 85
Purple: 105
Total: 511
Pikmin Killed by enemies: 0
Total killed in action: 0
NB Game time can be done much, much quicker especially if you allow a few deaths. Probably closer to 10 hrs, if not below.
edit: that link to the faq won't work, gamefaqs won't let you link directly to faqs. You have to do it from here instead.Last edited by bigbadwolf; 26-06-2004, 12:31.

I picked this title up yesterday. This is actually my first time playing a Pikmin title, I heard about the sequel having all this extra stuff in it, so held of buying the 1st. Not sure if I'm regretting waiting so long to play a Pikmin game or not because I love the game soooooooo much! Its very refreshing to play a game like this from Nintendo really, anyway not much I can add to this thread, English text adds a fair bit to the game though, some nice humour in it & enemies/items have descriptions in the logs. Nice touch those logs too, you can zoom in and pan around a group of enemies, the effect comes off like watching a wildlife show. Great.

Just got the US version to fill in the missing gaps in the story and the profile section. Very disappointed to see the e-reader section of the game has been dropped from the US version, I'm going to have to keep both versions now.
With this and the criminal dropping of Tetras Trackers from Four Swords it seems if you want all the features and a story you can follow you'll have to own two versions of the same game. Damn.

This is the first game I've bought in many months, and I must say it's another Miyamoto masterpiece that manages to surpass the brilliance of the original.
After reading NTSC-UK's review I was concerned the game would be another Nintendo let-down but I think it's one of the best releases this year. Unlike NTSC-UK, I feel the cavern sections gel well with the above-ground sections and introduce a much needed change in pace, tactics and environment.
I've more or less completed it now, I have around 20 or so treasures to collect, and have adored every minute of it. The environments are rich, warm and organic, every creature make perfect sense, from the way they move, to the way they attack, to their vunerabilities. The folky music fits perfectly and is quite reminiscent of Tim Follin's early work adding yet more charm to an already charming game.
It's a welcome reminder that Nintendo produce the best games in the world.
Pure genius.
