Haha, that is also ridiculous. I never owned WE7I so I was unaware of that. Truly outrageous.

Well, i played it quite a lot last night. Initial impressions are a little bit mixed.

The slowdown is worse than i thought it would be - ive turned the commentary and the crowd both down to one star and experimented with a few of the stadiums but still cant seem to reduce it significantly. Also, the screen seeems to go into meltdown at times, whereby the picture looks like it is splitting slightly. Hoping that some more play tonight in some of the other stadiums will provide something of a solution though. Anyone recommend some stadiums that seem ok? Old Trafford is frankly shocking for slowdown in and around the box.

Thankfully though the gameplay seems very polished It always takes me a while to get into the new versions of Winning Eleven, but i can see that this one will end up being quality. The players do use the outside of the boot too often, but when executing overhead through balls this looks sublime. And the through balls are so much more intelligent now. They tend to play it round the defenders and into space a lot more frequently than in past iterations of the series. The longer normal pass seems good too, and the crossing is more venemous, although i have been put of a from using this a little due to the slowdown that results from crosses and corners.

Tackling is awesome, in regards to both the sliding animations and the player being tackled/fouled. Some of the falls and dives etc are just so life like. I love the way they stick their arm in the air to claim free kicks for instance, and pound the ground with both hands whilst on their knees when a decision doesnt go their way. Oh, and the shooting seems better. More power can be applied now without the ball feeling quite as floaty. The new 'bobble physics' really help make the ball feel like a more solid object that is truly affected by its surroundings.

Dissapointingly, i didnt see any real new skills in my session last night, but a bit of searching around on the net today has wielded some info on the new moves and how to do execute them, so ill be sure to have a go tonight.

Had a few games with Real Madrid though and was amazed at how lifelike Ronaldo was - when he gets the ball and starts running it really looks like the man himself. He looks chunkier on this version and has the ability to brush defenders aside and get in a powerful strike. Shevchenko seemed pretty handy too, as did Henry who seemed to run most games he was in, shrugging defenders off with his strength and bamboozling them with bursts of pace and lightning quick feet.

So overall, im pretty impressed by the gameplay, but somewhat appalled that they let the slowdown issue slip through whatever testing procedures they employed. Would love to have the menus in English as well, but this will probably be the first version i wont be able to get a patch of as i dont have access to any burning facilities anymore.

                Aha, good man!

Had some more games last night, experimenting with different stadiums and settings. Found that Haze Hills helped with the slowdown, but the screen still seems to go into meltdown far too often.

Managed to get some skills going in training as well, although most of them are rock hard to pull off in a match situation. I do like the fake cross though, and if i can score a goal with the Rabona move (thats what they are calling it on Evo Web anyway - its where the player puts one leg behind and round the other to strike the ball) i will probably run around the room, shirt over head

I was playing last-night and the slow-down was horrendous, any flow the game had was marred by frequent slow-down. It was even occurring in the middle of the park and wasn't just restricted to either penalty box.

I'm hoping that the HD Loader will go some way to curing this.

All this slowdown talk is definitely putting me off - I think I may wait for Pro Evo 4 and then go for the inevitable WE8 International release in a few months.

It doesn't i'm afraid but it does speed up loading. Thing is i was told that if you install the game to HDD it gets rid of it.

I played my mates copy on Friday night and the slowdown was quite evident.....i received my copy on Monday and i've yet to see any major occurences of slowdown......weird!

Ive had the odd touch of slowdown in the box but thats it. Ive had packed boxes too (uh-oh ) and ive never had more than a slightly annoying touch of slowdown.Sometimes ive had packed corners and zero slowdown. Its a bit weird. Loading it onto the hdd wont work since its not disc access thats causing the slowdown. I think it was said earlier that getting rid of the crowds, the radar and players names get shut of it if your having a problem.

Best way of testing mate is to set a game up in the San Siro (AC vs Inter will usually default to this) and see if you get any slow-down on the "Wide" camera setting.

Can't say I've had slowdown in the middle of the pitch, only at corners.... even then though it feels like I've gone all neo and bullet timing my way into the box...

The L1 - R1 whilst slowing kick forward thing, anyone managed that, I've done it once, probably by accident, any hints?

Sticking with default cam is fine for me. Odd touch of slowdown but nothing overly noticeable and ive banged a few (uh-oh ) into the 6 yard box. Id imagine there would be slowdown on other camera angles but i dont use them .
I spotted the ai do a new trick yesterday. trapping the ball under their right foot then hopping back on their left whilst dragging the ball back as they hop. Anyone know how to do that?
