They all look fine to me. I plan on ditching:

GT3 (useless now I have the utterly superior 4)
Mobile Light Force 2 (AKA Shiki)
      Wreckless
      Rayman M

In return, I'm hoping for Jungle Beat (not likely), RE4 or Mercenaries.

so the offer's still running then? i don't want to make a wasted trip into town! and, seriously, they take ANYTHING? i've got 2 absolute pieces of crap in mission impossible and terminator 3 that i got free with my ps2, could i really trade these in?

Given they were happy to take my Super Bust A Move last weekend, turning down M:I would be somewhat churlish...

Can you hand in Platinum games?

They were really picky with me on disc quality. They didn't see that I had a few spare in my bag just incase. Oh I love Gamestation.

You can trade any game so long as it has the manual and the disc is in reasonable condition.

well i just got back from town a pretty happy man! out of my life forever are terminator 3, M:I, rallisport challenge and amped, all 4 of which i never play, and got in return a brand spanking new copy of Gran Turismo 4. from my own collection i'll now purge:
                  SSB Melee
                  XIII
                  Jak II
                  DOAXBV
                  DOA3
                  super monkey ball jr
                  Gran Turismo 3
                  Resident Evil 0

that makes 8. any suggestions on what i should get? btw, they refused my first choice of mario 64 DS on the grounds that it's not a chart game, which was a bit of a pisser. i'm thinking resident evil 4 and possibly mercenaries, although i'm sure there are others. what's that brothers in arms like, anyone know?

If it's Jr you've got, that's the GBA one; the offer is PS2, XBox or GC only.

How about Metal Gear Solid 3?

GS would probably give ?10 trade in for SMB jr.

how good is it? i didn't much like the second one, despite the graphics. although you've given me an idea: splinter cell was always my favourite, and the new one's out soon isn't it?

it is the gba one. oh well, you can add rocky to the list, then. i'll sell monkey ball on ebay, you usually get a good price on there.

by the way, i'm definitely decided on getting mercenaries for one of the choices now. tbh, i want resi 4 a lot, but i'm not too keen on the series in general- someone persuade me i heard that the game runs in widescreen to save the frame rate, is it true? i've got a 16:9 tv with zoom function, but doesn't that detract from the picture quality?

I'm probably looking into this far too hard, but a clarification would be nice for myself. ta, chief.
Nothing official as such, it's just that say a copy of GTA San An with the exact same mark as say Oni, the GTA wouldprobably be allowed but not the Oni. Obviously disc wrecking marks won't be allowed any, but small blemishes are more acceptable on a newer, more saleable game.

Well they've changed the till process (again) today. All games now trade in for ?4.75. We basically have to discount new stock by ?10 or ?15. This means they are making no profit on selling the new stuff, but will make lots on the P/O. There's a good chance that GAME have a special deal with the distributors that allow them the new games for slightly cheaper.
This kind of practice certainly happens. Look at PS2 packs when the slimline came out. All games were EA or Sony on offer. GAME had paid a pittance for these titles, but EA and Sony were happy as every console went through with one of their titles.

As for helping out Gamestation, well there's two schools of thought. Will Gamestation sell more, the same or less new titles compared to GAME? I'd say Gamestation sell less than they normally would because people are swapping at GAME instead.
However, Gamestation are getting extra money from crappy, dead stock, which is your point.

Maybe it's all about snaring new customers that will stay loyal. Chuck in the special offers rammed down the customers throats that will make the company huge profits if they sell, and GAME are doing alright.

Remember that the number of people that clearly take the piss is small. It's obvious when people come in with utter crap that they've paid peanuts for. The vast majority of people are genuinely bringing in stuff they've bought as new, played and finished, which obviously reduces the dross traded in that would harm GAME.

ON another, yet related, note. GameStation are having a sale on preowned stuff starting friday. Splinter Cell for xbox down to 2.99 and there are approx 200 copies of that in each store throughout the UK. Prolly be some other common stuff going cheap aswell. Haven't bothered looking
