Coming into this late, all I'll say is that they are higher than in the US! I went on a bit of a spending spree there over the last week, and even new, shrinked titles were reduced down below $20 mark or more... I think I got about 9 GC titles (one brand new just out) for no more than $200...

Does anyone know the best method for removing the afformentioned "red ink of death" as it really pisses me off. A beautiful piece of gaming collectability spoilt by some grunt with a felt tip pen.ft:

I overheard a conversation in GAME last week regarding the often paltry difference between the prices of new and used games. The main reason is because of Gamestations (and other similar stores) popping up all over the country, many GAME stores are having to lower new game prices in accordance with there price match policy. This policy does not apply to used game prices which are still set by head office, hence the difference.
Seems bloody stupid to me, surely the best thing to do would be to set the used price as a percentage of the new price, thus it will be consistent.Last edited by phresh; 25-08-2004, 11:40.

pretty much anything alcohol based will get rid of the diseased marker pen syndrome many 2nd hand games have ;p alcoholic wipes are a nice non messy way of doing it
Meh I tried to trade a 3DO in at gamestation (in the sale thread now) and they said not to bother (they know me) as they cud only give me ?3-?5 for it and would sell it for ?70.

Now go to our For Sale thread and see if ANYONE has posted the following "Ninja Gaiden for Sale, ?9 ono"
Actually, dont bother, I can tell you right now, nobody.
Point is, no matter how companies price up their games, whether its the buying-in or sell prices, not everyone is gonna be happy about one aspect or another.
You price it too low and the people trying to sell in their games are gonna be pissed, price it too high and you get threads like this.

a) Hit and Run was rather fun, I thought.
b) We've already established that both
i - individual shops usually have 2nd-hand prices dictated by upper management
i - finding time to reprice all the disordered 2nd hand stuff every time there is a price cut on the new games is a pain in the arse. I've lost count of the number of PS2 titles I've seen at ?30 second-hand on Game shelves even after they have hit Platinum.
So while I don't expect them to sell many ?24 Hit and Runs, its not that shocking.

I know its not shocking because of the reputation of such stores and the staff inside them but its shocking that it happens in the first place.

Originally posted by turqOK, so they set it half the price, how much should they offer someone wanting to sell their game? For them to make any kind of money they will have to offer you a maximum of 60% of what they will be selling it for.

BTW GAME have a new offer starting tomorrow on pre-owned, trade in any 5 games on PS2, Cube or Xbox (excluding football and wrestling games, all must be different) and get any ?40 or less game in exchange.
Not nearly as ace as the 99p offer from a few months back, but still, nit bd if you can get some real cheap **** as trades.
